My mic broke and I was wondering, could someone do a short sound recording of someone going 'wheeee'?

Done. Just e-mail me at julieabubo@msn.com and I'll send you my recording. ^.^ I wasn't sure where to send it....

I rarely do that nowadays, and maybe it's not so nice to record a simple Whee versus the directors that requested for my work. Yet, scripts vesus a whee, well....

How has everyone been? Natrually, I'm still on my holiday away from VAing. Getting school and whatnot out of the way and not really being involved w/ other VAing communites other than the VAAO. I'd probably accumulate more members if I was active, but again, life gets in the way. Seeking an agent and whatnot here, whoo!

It's the summer. Maybe I'll give some auditioning a shot. Although, those directors... yeah, they get priority. They should. xD

What about Bestbuy? Well, if you don't have a Radio shack, don't go looking for my mic, because radioshack made it. I suggest just looking around stores for a good microphone. Bestbuy has good ones, I just don't live close to one. If you don't have one, then yea, ebay would be best

And YEA! A voice actor from the VAC other than me is here. Oh joy! Now it feels like one big happy family!

I started a new flash, wich requires my character to have a voice.
His name is Albird, and he's the black guy in the movie. I don't exactly know what voice he could use, because it's hard to think of a voice for your own character.

Check out my submissions "Keep on eating" and "Keep on fighting" for more information.
http://www.sheezyart.com/view/818035/ This one is the flash where he talks.

Certainly

First, download Audacity at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/. It's free to download and easy to use.

OK, so you have your Audacity, and you have your microphone. I suggest fooling around with audacity first, just to get the hang of it. Get to know all of the effects it offers. Mostly, noise reduction and normalize. Those help immensely. Normalize makes everything one, very good volume, and noise reduction, obviously, reduces noise.

Now onto the demo: The demo should be 30 seconds at the least, 2 minutes at the most. It should display a wide range of your voices, as well as some of your impressions. My demo I have currently in my sig is rushed so I could show off my new mic quality. I didn't use a huge range of voice, but I'm working on that.

It should also include backround music. I suggest the ambience section of music in the audio portal of newgrounds, or look for backround music of your favorite anime, just make sure it changes throughout.

Remember: This is not a monolouge. Don't try to be funny or overly long, just show your voice. Producers don't want to sit through 2 minutes of one voice talking.

Make sure to record you lines seperately. It may take 3 or 4 tries (or even more) to get one line right. Don't get frustrated. Just make sure the voices go through fairly fast.

This is most important, don't make the whole thing in one sitting. Don't sit down and change your voice for 1 and 1/2 minutes. It's easy to to tell and is very unprofessional.

If you need any help mixing the demo or looking for/ puting in music, just ask me at Moose1015@AOL.com. Good luck.

Great, that makes this alot easier.

Ok, so you got your stuff, now you have to make a demo to join. This demo should be at least 30 seconds long, and no longer than 2 minutes. It should give a good example to producers what your voice sounds like. It should contain a broad range of voices, and if you can, try to put in some sort of music in the backround. If you have any problems figuring audacity out, just contact me and I'll help.

After you finish your demo, then you can officially join. Here is the template.

Name: Not your real name, but your alias or aliases
Gender: (NEW!) I decided to add this to make things easier. It's pretty self explanitory.
Age: Again, not your real age, but ages you can voice.
Specialties: What basic voice types you are best at voicing. Popular characters you can sound like. Impersinations. Accents. All that goes here. Make sure you don't say "I can do any voice" because, unless you are the Jesus of Voice Acting, you can't.
Demo: Put the demo on Putfile and then you can put it up here.
Resume: If you have your own website and have done work before, but a link to a resume here. Just look at mine to answer your questions.
Contact: Email, Yahoo, and/or AIM go here.

Here is mine for example:

Name: Moose1015/ Moose
Gender: Male
Age: 13-70
Specialties: Cocky guys, business type, surfer, Beavis and Butthead, Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama, Miroku from Inuyasha.
Demo: My Demo
Resume: My Resume
Contacts: Email: Moose1015@AOL.com AIM: Moose1015 Yahoo: Moose1015Moose

Well there you go. Now get to work and contact me if you need help

Well that's the fun part. No one knows what voices they can do at first. I suggest doing voices from your favorite cartoons, movies, or video games. It really helps you to explore your vocal range.

oh and showR studios I think you should use sound effects for perfect chaos, also about the prototype lizard... are you having it talk or just roaring? coz if roaring sound effects again... but if talking you could have it talking telepathically or something

Wow, people are still posting in this thread? That's pretty frickin' unbelievable thar!

Anyway, for people posting for help or wanting to join where the club has actually migrated to now, you might want to post on the VAC boards over here:

http://voiceacting.p..ards62.com/index.cgi

There's also another place called the Voice Acting Alliance:

http://voiceactingal...com/board/index.php

Seriously, if you're stuck for voice actors and want to be able to go through a larger talent pool than what's left on the vestiges of this thread, go to either of those two sites. And for people who are "joining up" on this thread, go to either of those sites to do it instead.

Thanks Omahadon, I was just about to post that link once we hit page 410, you saved me the work of writing up the links. I just post here mostly to help new people and eventually link to the VAC and VAA.

Yea but Omahadon is right, the VAC and VAA are much better resources for voice actors. People fairly serious about voice acting should join there, whether they are producers looking for VA's, or VAers looking for work.

Oh, and Moose, when's your auditions coming in, I'm just gettin' a bit anxious because I'll be gone for a month on Thursday, so I'd like to hear it :P Plus, there's barely any Kevin or Orpheus auds, and they're like the two main characters! Lol, and you're trying out for both :P

Hmm.....good auds Moose. The voice you used was very rough and grating, not what I need for Kevin or Nathan, but something I definitely need for other characters, one of them a main supporting guy. I'll try to get up a sample line or something soon, but the character isn't much developed yet.
