Here is the email that inspired it all so thanks to this guy for caring enough to half tell me off half stick up for VA's like himself
I would advise you to at least leave your auditions open for 24 hours for ALL the charatcers. I'm at work right now and won't be able to get you any auditions for about 6 hours. At the rate you're giving out parts they'll all be full. I'm not the only one either, there are a number of extremely talented VA's who are in different time zones around the world. I suggest you give everyone the 24 hours so you get the RIGHT voice for each. One day of waiting is no big deal, the flash will take you months anyways, whats one more day? You'd feel like a jackass if you got a better audition for a cast role and you had to either A) recast the role and piss off the original actor or B) settle for who you picked and live with the voice you don't like. Just some friendly advice.
-Frogs
Anyways yeah so all ositions are permatly open

XwaynecoltX: Thanks for looking out. We are always looking to raise our profile. And do you mean the voice acting process takes a long time? In my opinion the 2-3 days it usually takes to get all the lines in from all the actors is much shorter than the 2-3 months it often takes for a flash to be completed (if at all).
AT7K: I'm glad you feel so compassionately about the hurricane victims. However you still are off-topic. Let me spell it out for you (VAC 'ers, please correct me if I'm worng): We all feel compassion towards victims of tragedy. We all have shitty days. We all like to talk about these things with our friends. BUT NOT HERE!!!!!!!!!!
This thread is for VA related business ONLY . Period. No exceptions. I encourage you to talk about you life with others, and express your sympathies to the less fortunate, and to declare your thankfulness that you have a better life than some. But I repeat: NOT HERE!!!!!!! Please go start a new general forym thread, or a blog. Put a link to it in your NG sig and tell everyone to go a read it.
The NGVAC is not your blog. I have 2 myself, Elli has one, Gwen has one (and I'm sure a lot more of us too). We all vent our frustrations, and discuss serious issues, or just keep our distant friends in the loop. BUT NOT HERE!!!!!!!!! The VAC is where we:
A) post/audition for roles.
B) post/comment on completed flash/fandubs/radioplays/~secret projects~
C) ask/answer questions/advice about VAing to collectively help eachother out.
And that's it. I can't explain it more clearly. This is not a hangout/lounge for you after school. Kagome has set up her own website for the VAC with general chat forums where a number of the VAC DO hang out. I'm not saying no chatting should happen here, but it NEEDS to be on topic. VAING TOPIC.
So stop.
Now.
Ted: Similar thing kinda goes for TVS. He is often random and off topic. We generally ignore him because he won't stop anyways. However, he is a nice kid. You are a jackass. He DOES post on topic, sometimes comes to our chats and has fun, and has VA'd in flash before. All you do is bitch about how you hate him and us. Even though I can't stop anyone (You, AT7K, TVS, myself, anyone else) from posting randomly, I will always publically ask any offenders to stop. Politely even (sometimes).
VAC: And now for some ON TOPIC-NESS FROM FROGS. And you thought this would just be ranting...
I have been auditioning a lot lately. Been cast a lot too. But nothing is coming out it seems. It's been months since I had a movie out (Skittles & Bits series excepted) and it's getting a little annoying. Is anyone else having a slump too? Gwen, don't even say anything because I could name 7-8 movies you've been in this month and i WILL name them here if need be =P
Also, I see more of us doing our own rants/radiopays/economic-anylysis popdcasts lately (Elli, Shock, Backlash, etc...). Perhaps we could setup a webpage featuring these, like a VAC "gallery" of sorts. I know a lot of us host these on our personal sites, but traffic to those are low I'm guessing. I dunno, just an idea.
And finally, speaking of a VAC "gallery" for these selfmade audio showcases; would anyone be interested in doing one of those "VAC challenges" that were talked about like 4-5 months ago? For those who missed this, the idea was to issue a challenge like "in 72 hours, write and record a skit with at least 3 characters, at least one the opposite sex as you. At least 2 minutes long, no more than 5." that kinda thing. And see what we all come up with, laugh are asses off, etc. We never actually did one, but maybe now is a good time? Thoughts, questions, life changing epiphanies?
Wow, this sorta turned into a mini-mega-post.
HA! ***DP-warning***... that's DP for Double Post (sickos)
Well Ninja Chicken I didn't mean for the email to be public (hence an email and not a post). But hey, whatever. Glad you're keeping the auditions open. It woulda been ok I think to keep the ones you had cast already, didn't wanna make you break your word.
I'll send in some demos after I get outta work.
then you can't stop my posts, so jusdt stsay out of my way and shut up.

Anyyyyways, that was awesome Cz! I laughed like crazy. Who could have thought that censorship could be made to be funny. I don't know how to do stuff like that myself...
And Frogs, I wouldn't mind doing something like that with the 2-5 minute thing. My female voice isn't that great but it's better than some. I think I'd have some fun doing it.
I've been thinking of making a Radio Play of my own... but I would need to be able to figure how to do sound effects like gun shots and swords clanging, etc.
That Radio Play would have quite a few characters that I would need voices for and maybe in the future, I would have the skills to animate it.
It sounds like you dont like tvs_slayer much, so whats the point? Stop defending him
Hey, what's up guys. I'm up for voice acting too, so...

Hey a Frogs nice somewhat mega post. It's oddly the opposite for me; iIt seems that more roles are starting to come out for me. At first I had one thing, then ever since MGS:FRS came out, it seems that things are either coming out are getting closer to coming out.
I love the idea of a VAC gallery dude it'd be totally fun and awesome. Also the challenge idea sounds awesome, I'd like to try it since I've been having crap loads of free time these days

Amen, Frogs. That's exactly what I try to tell people, but you said it perfectly. :D
Speaking of on topic/off topic, I still encourage everyone to check out the VAC Forums where there are even sections devoted to places where you can be spammy.
And I would TOTALLY be up for a VA challenge. :P I'd especially love to try voicing some boy characters...I got all inspired after watching Card Captor Sakura this afternoon. The dub wasn't bad (sadly, there was no option on the DVD to switch to Japanese audio) but some people sounded a bit too old for their characters, and like half the names were pronounced wrong. Other than that it was fairly well done ^^;
As far as stuff coming out, it's weird because I havne't been recording much lately yet a few projects have been released. Such as "The Dudette Next Door", which is on the front page with 100,000+ views, yay! I guess all those months of recording for nothing are finally starting to pay off, ne? (I was also supposed to be in S&B 3 but I was recast for being "too slow" with lines...hm...never knew 2 days was too slow, but okay. Seriously, people should tell their actors if they need something really quickly and maybe send an email.)
Some of you should be expecting something in the mail within a few days. ^_^;

Kagome: Ah! I'm sorry, I haven't been able to phone you about the "secret flash" (lol that reminds me of the good old days), but I'm still working on it. I still have some things to draw out, but the animating is going to be really easy once that's done. I'll e-mail you when I get some more flash work done and call you as soon as I'm not busy with real work and a somewhat hectic life.
Frogs: You're aboslutely right about people posting about what they ate for breakfast and stuff totally off topic. But the key problem with these people is that we really don't have a way of stopping them. Ahhh to be back in the days of spring :P
I was the one who mentioned the breakfast thing. Frogs just expanded on the thought.
Lmao... "So Frogs, how are you?" my lord.
Umms, well, -Frogs- i think that would be a totall awesome thing... the VA challenges or whatever. We ought to all post when we might have the time, though. However, i dunno even about myself. I get pretty busy. And the time zones... you know.
Alright, so how about this...
Announcing The 1st Official VAC Challenge!!!!!!!111111!1!!!!11OMG!!!!!11@#
%$^
Rules:
2 - 5 minute skit
at least 3 characters (distinct voices)
one must be opposite gender as you
(optional) BG music and SFX... makes it nicer, ya know
Can be comedy, drama, whatever as long as it's fiction
Should be completed by next Saturday Oct 1st. That will hopefully give everyone plenty of time to write/record/edit. Plus anyone who needs to learn how to put something like this together can ask questions here and those of us who know can help out.
DO NOT post yours before the 1st even if you finish early. I want us all to hear these at the same time roughly. If you finish late, still post since it's not like its a competition (or is it...?) No collabs this time people, I'll come up with a teamup option for future challenges if this one goes well.
okaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy
GO!

Sounds awesome. Can someone direct me to a good sound effects site? And I'm not entirely sure how to input sound effects into it, and I only slightly know how to use BGM's. Guess it's time I learned.

Oh, well in that case, you too are absolutely right. Have a cookie! *tosses pickle to Kai* ha ha! I tricked you, it was actually a pickle XD
Frogs: At first I wasn't considering in taking part in this, but now it seems like there are actually people giving it a try. I think it's a good idea that we have the "deadline" on Oct 1st. That's more than enough time for people to write and record something at least 2 minutes long. I'll just have to come up with something so clever, that you'll all over look my horrid attempt at a female voice... My one true weakness! How did you know!?
VAC: Hey, I just gave the VAC another shameless plug... wait, why is it shameless?... Uhhh, anyway, just looking out for you guys by spreading the holy word of the VAC! *goes back to handing out pamphlets door to door*

Reminds me of one of those Time Trials those flashists have on occassion in the Flash section. But yeah, awesome. I'll def partake in this, despite having enough time to record anything for anyone. Guess I'll just have to find some time... somehow.
Oh yeah, just a suggestion. For the next challenge we have (if we do have another), it'd be cool to have a theme/scenario/situation of some sort to work off of. Kinda hard for me to think of something really cool and original at the moment. I'm lame like that. :( But I realize this is our first challenge so maybe you've probably already thought of doing this in the future and I typed this all down for nothing instead of finishing my homework. Oh well.

It's where I get all my sound effects! ^.^
Anyways guys, what do you think of this screen shot of my game? It's what the battels will look like.
looking very cool. Most definately! keep up with that art. it'll be tricky to program, methinks.
however, many of you still seem to dwell in the past of the 'good ol' days'.
well, i guess that's a human invention and concept but it does little. The few members who blatantly abuse this forum are better left unnoticed and ignored, it just takes a little thing called perserverance (maybe fortitude too) to just look at it and go right by.
as for myself and VAing.. i've gotten a few roles...but i haven't been out for em lately.
I've done more art, planning in my books how I'm going to split up the now massive movie, and written more.
As far as the challenge goes...it seems vague to me now, I can't say if I'll do it or not. eh... I don't think so, but I'm welcome to see what out brightest young amazing-talents (one word) can do...

You can also get sounds from www.sounddogs.com and www.flashkit.com in case you don't find what you want at findsounds.
Oh and the screen for your game looks great. Are you doing all the scripting and animating by yourself? I was just wondering because action scripting is hardcore... for me at least.
Elliair: I like the idea of a theme for these. Something to give people a starting point for voices like a bank heist on the moon, or even a boy band finding the cure for cancer through song. Both of these ideas are stupid of course, but so am I :P

full recording abilities and sound editing software.
Kai Ren: findsounds.com (cred to elli for refering me here) is a good one. Just a hint, be sure to select 16bit only in your serches. Those 8bit ones are static-y.
MCH: Excellent! I am looking forward to whatever everyone comes up with. I know the whole opposite gender voice might be tough, but it is called a challenge. The idea is for us to stretch beyond what we normally do, and also to laugh our asses off when it ends up rediculous. BTW, whenever I call you MCH it's because it sounds like MCA from the Beastie Boys.
Elli: I may have been originally inspired by the time trial idea, I can't remember. I did think about themes, but that might turn people away from doing it at all "oh no, I'd never do THAT kind of skit..." But perhaps some suggestions would be a good starting point--->
***these are just ideas, do whatever you want***
Funny skits:
- two 8 year old boys/girls find a magic talking manatee in their swimming pool when moms not home...
- former hippie parents talk with their harvard bound, by-the-book high school senior son/daughter about taking a year off to go back pack thru europe. They say "smoking some grass and banging foreign chicks/dudes" will "really let him/her get to know himself/herself"...
- Micheal Jackson. Any skit about Jacko is automatically funny.
Serious skits:
- A muslim, a jew, and a born again christian get stuck in an elevator with no power for several hours...
- An old man/woman is minutes from death and his/her wife/husband and grown son/daughter are by his/her side to say goodbye.
- Michael Jackson.
we need some samples, preferably a demo proving that you can do what you just said. Because it seems very unlikely.
Might be Double Posting here.
I've already got the idea for my script. Normally serious is more my speciality, but I'm going for Comedy this time.
Imagine this: An autustic child who is obssessed with Nintendo, Zelos Wilder, the ladies man from Tales of Symphonia and my very own Kat Prowler, the seductive ninja.
I'm still working on the script but it should be good. Oh, and thanks for the sfx sites!
Hey Frogs, can we use existing characters as long as we wrote the script?

Yes, you can use any characters BUT you may only use one character from any source. IE: you could be Kagome, but then no other Inuyasha characters as well. I would like to make this original and unpredictable, not just fan fiction for something.
The only possible exception to this rule is if someone were to make a Mario/Zelda "Swingers" crossover. Like Mario and Link swap princesses for one night to keep things kinky after meeting on craigslist. But that is the ONLY exception.
VAC: Don't feel like you need to tell us what you're writing. I think it'd be more fun if we all just suprise eachother. I myself have a few ideas already, but need to work them out more in my head and narrow it down to the best one. Either way I'll be sure to leave you rolling in stitches or bawling like little bitches!
word.
Ah, this talk of a VAC VA-related competition typesque thing kinda reminds me of the VA Jam we had recently over on the Voice Acting Alliance:
http://www.voiceacti..howthread.php?t=8174
And man.... I thought we escaped from all the drama and now it's back again in full force. Ah, internet drama. When shall we escape from your expansive bosom? I've absolutely mellowed out ever since I stopped posting megaposts too. So mellooooooooooow....
In other news, I'd say I've been in a bit of a slump voice acting wise, too. Except I can't say that now, because I've just appeared in two flashes in quick succession recently:
PALADIN episode 3
Detective Hearst Case 01
Nothing for a month and then BOOM! Two at once. Strange. O.o
