Happy 300th page people! Boy, that's quite a bit. Man, 100 pages ago... I was still actively posting and creating huge megaposts that nobody read but amused myself with its sarcastic content and passable wit. Man, when did I get the time to sit down and do those, anyway?

Anyway, here's to 300 pages and many more to come!

Anyways I'm really happy to see so many familiar people still staying strong with there posting, as for hobbes ... its been quite dificult to contact you so I hope you see this and try and contact me. I recently got the yahoo messenger cause I heard you use that so put Vegeta1940 on your list and if that doesn't work email me at Vegetasan1940@aol.com, btw are the online chat/meetings still going on these days? if so when and what time? later everyone.

Cool. 300. That's a pretty big number.
Though I've always been a bit "low-profile", I've been reading everything since the first page, and I don't plan to stop anytime soon. =D

(Just wanted to say something just for the heck of it before the next page starts. =P )

it will probably be a little late for page 300, but tommorow I plan on recording a song (or maybe two if I'm in the mood) and posting it.

Yes, yes I know *listens to all the groans* I'm not that great, but I figured I'd show you guys my singing talent. If I was to rate it... subpar. But I'm harsh on myself. Anyways, we'll see what you guys think.

I have been singing in my high school choir till I graduated and I was in some elementary choirs too. So it's not like I haven't had any training XD.

I put this audition in the other VA forum but I'll put this here too

The Flash is called A Theft of Funny and is a Tiny Toons Fan fiction. You can view it here http://www.deviantart.com/view/14340602/ its 90% complete. I am almost done with this but I require another voice! Well 2 actually. 1 person can probably pull it off. I would do it myself but I feel that having more variety is better. The lines are from an outtake reel that will be included at the end of the Flash and the lines are spoken by real people not cartoons.
Requirement is that you have no pops or clicks or static when you do the lines.
Deadline is, oh I dunno how bout Sunday Sept 18.
Email me at ringostar51@msn.com with a line from one or both characters.
------------------------------------------
-----------------------------
Character: Production crew member that does the takes
Voice type: Normal but apathetic voice, Male. Age range around late 20s to mid 30s

Lines

Line 1: Tiny Toons, a theft of funny. Scene 1 take 3.
Line 2: Tiny Toons, a theft of funny. Scene 4 take 27.
Line 3: Scene 6 take 5
Line 4: Scene 5 take 7

------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
-------------
Character: Production director
Voice type: Male, stereotyped evil director thats loud and abusive with a gruff grainy voice, emphasis on loud.

Lines

Line 1: And ACTION!
Line 2: CUT! (mutters to himself)-> Aw crap we better not get sued.
Line 3: Cut! Set supervisor!? Wheres the set supervisor?! Someone get the set supervisor!
Line 4: Queue Hamton! Wheres Hampton?!

Right, Kai Ren was kind enough to play the role of the hacker for my up-coming animation. But he says he'd feel selfish to take up anymore. So, does anyone else wanna contribute their talents to a voice of Raven? I'm looking for a voice that's sort of regretful, like someone who's suffered, and is reminded always of it.

Well today has been an interesting day. I receive 2 Ryo-Okies(Tenchi Muyo) delivered to my apartment with no explantation. The NG VAC Thread Reaches 300 pages(20% Flame war... Just Kidding). I got to Coversating with a fellow NGVAC (Kagome) via the phone, (And she guessed my age and my ethinicity wrong (heh heh)...But I get that all the time anyway:) )BTW Kagome:Cheese on a Subway isn't so bad...But a BLT/CLUB with MEATBALLs as the addition would be an insane condiment.

Also I found a fand dub clip I did a WHILE back finally got posted to the net. Unfortunaly I think they forgot to bring my audio levels down but anyway I got to play a "Big Lug" character from Ah My Godess TV. The clip is .avi and 3 meg(.zip) Download. But it was fun to do...Comments and Crits welcome (And I know there will be plenty of Criticisms) Anywho...I'm VAing the black haired mustached Fellow "Tamiya"

VAC, I have a question about Audacity. Right now, when I export files as mp3s, they are at 128 kbps. How do I change it? I want to boost it to 190 or something. Can someone tell me how to do that?

It's never too late to join the VAC, but you have to give us some samples of your work and all that. I only joined a little over a week ago myself.

Not at all. Just fill out the required profile:

Name: (can be your real name or your screen name; however you prefer to be credited.)
Gender:
Age Range: (Not how old you actually are, but what ages you can believably play.)
Specialties: (what kind of voices you do best)
Example(s) of your voice: (Please note that you MUST have some kind of mp3 of your voice available on the Internet in order to join the VAC. It doesn't have to be some professionally mixed demo with sound effects and music and all, but animators need to know what you sound like.)
Resume: (optional)
Ways to contact you:
Any other information:

(remember that the example is required)

Click the "File Formats" tab.

The bit rate selection box will appear near the bottom. =)

hey guys, I know I promised you a song today but it'll have to wait a bit. I'm just not at my full potential today. I'm not sure why, but today's a bit of an off day for me today. But you'll see it when I'm back to normal again.

Hiya, I'm workin on one of my coolest flashes yet, Earthbound Fairy Tales.

I take classic fairy tales, one being Jack and the Beanstalk and retell them with humor and Earthbound sprites / characters.

I have spots available for the parts of:

Ness: (a male child, not too young, about 15-16-ish in my story)
The Creepy Man: (average male voice needed for the man who sells beans to Ness)
Widow: (Ness' mother, she would need to sound middle aged)
Tall Woman: (The wife of the giant man who lives in the clouds, she would need to sound middle aged as well)
Tall Man: (The giant man who lives in the clouds and eats kids, he needs to have sort of a deep voice)

I have a script already written and awaiting roles. If you're interested in a part, let me know or contact me on AIM at DungeonMastah or MSN at kakashi_otaku@hotmail.com

which I do not like.

it's the bored, monotonous, unfunny, sarcastic one.

Alright, couple more quick questions about Audacity and I'll be able to actually get in some samples.

1. I'm having some trouble overlapping sounds. For instance, recording something and then recording over it to add in, say, a whisper over my normal tone. Is there an actual button specifically for overlapping, or am I just not doing it right?

2. Is there anyway of compressing all the audio tracks into one? Currently for a sample that I'm doing called ' Insomnia ', I have 3 audio tracks in the same audacity file. Is this a problem?

3. I saved one of my projects, but it told me that most programs can't run .aud or whatever the audacity file tag is. How do I change the format to like a .wav or something so other people can actually open it easily and listen to it?

4. When I finally complete my samples, does anyone have a good site that I can upload them on?

Sorry if my questions have already been answered, but I don't have alot of time to read. ;x Easier to ask.

Thanks in advance. <3

I shall answer your Qs!

because homework is boring at the moment. :/
1. I'm having some trouble overlapping sounds. For instance, recording something and then recording over it to add in, say, a whisper over my normal tone. Is there an actual button specifically for overlapping, or am I just not doing it right?

Record your first track. Then, record your second track you wish to overlap the first with. Both tracks should be aligned (first track ontop; second on bottom). Highlight both (Edit: Select All). Goto: Project > Quickmix.

2. Is there anyway of compressing all the audio tracks into one? Currently for a sample that I'm doing called ' Insomnia ', I have 3 audio tracks in the same audacity file. Is this a problem?

Make sure your tracks are placed the way you want if not already. (Use the time shift tool to do this.) Then, highlight everything. (Edit: Select All.) Then Project > Quickmix.

3. I saved one of my projects, but it told me that most programs can't run .aud or whatever the audacity file tag is. How do I change the format to like a .wav or something so other people can actually open it easily and listen to it?

You want a .mp3. You don't want .wavs; they can get way too big. You must download this. Then, you can either 1) mix your tracks down together then save as mp3. -OR- 2) highlight everything and save as mp3. It'll ask you to locate the 'lame_enc.dll'. You'll only have to do this once, then you'll be able to save files as .mp3. Forever.

unless you delete the lame_enc.dll...
4. When I finally complete my samples, does anyone have a good site that I can upload them on?

Ripway, 250free, XTHost, Groupnetwork, etc. I sometimes host clips for people too. So if you want me to host something for ya, just contact me via e-mail and send me whatever it is you want me to host. I don't mind.

Sorry if my questions have already been answered, but I don't have alot of time to read. ;x Easier to ask.

No one wants to read over 300 pages. :)

Thanks in advance. <3

No problem!

Thanks alot for your help. ;x I've just got one more quick question about the MP3 thing.

I mixed the audio file that I wanted to save, clicked on file/save as, but it doesn't give me the option of saving my project as an MP3. Do I do this outside of audacity, or did I simply download the MP3 file into the wrong place?

Thanks again.

Actually, I made a small mistake. Click "Export As Mp3", not save project as. That should be it, and should ask for you to locate the lame_enc.dll on your machine. Afterwards, you should be able to Save/Export your audio as a .mp3.
