The other option is for them to use clock voices, or not have any voices, or just get their friends to do it who have horrible recording quality and use Sound Recorder and breathe heavily in every other word they say.

That is very true, there is so many projects on the portal that get blammed as a result of DARTH VADER screechy voiceacting. And strangly enough there are animations that are considered "simple" but get high scores due to excellent voice acting an audio work.

TESM -I voice act as a hobby right now, because I haven't landed a Pro gig. I plan to have pro work someday. Also I just LOVE doing it!!! I don't take a project if I don't think it'll be fun or push me forward in my abilities...For these flash works, I try to do my best so that I can share it with my friends. Just becasue your goal is not to be the next Spike Spegal, Kurogane, or Vash the Stampeed... Doesn't mean your letting anyone down. My first radioplay, was done on a Radio Shack $10 mic...but because I did my best, and listened to others ideas on recording, No one knew any different. The goal is to do your best to make the work your doing NOW sound great.
The future is just what it is...The Future...It's unwritten..but it takes shape within the hear and now..(Woah...I must be sleepy...that was WAY to philisphical just now.)

No more VAs Needed,
I'd like to thank the VAC for helping me come in contact with such talented and helpful VAs.
If it wasn't for this thread who knows if I would have found anyone to help me at all.
Thank you.

Don't get me wrong, when it comes to the movies I have voices, I'm no slouch. But I really have no desire to go pro, and probably couldn't, I may be too critical of my own voice, but I feel I'm hardly up to par with people who do want to go pro.

However, my philosophy is to try to be as good as tho I 'was' aspiring to be pro, without actually doing it. So far I'm told I do good work, yet I do not truly belive I'm good enough as people (right now) who wana go pro.

Good though, I'm glad to get the input on it. I feel content now. Only more work will cement how I feel about it... like I said, it's always my goal to do my best, I'll have to be the one who decides... however unclear right now...

I've just got one small request here (although none of you will probably listen to them, I'm not surprised). Please stop talking about what pro work you've done or going to do, it makes me feel inferior, in fact that's what got me worked up when I was on the VAA

Well maybe to other people then yes it can be. The problem with me is that I've got a very sensitive ego

Now I should point out that I have no objections to anyone wanting to go pro, if they want to, then do it. But when I read about someone here or on the VAA who has got pro work, that makes me want to achieve that even more and I often cause trouble because of it (like what happened on the VAA with Cristina)

However I think that was a stupid thing to ask anyway

First off, I must be behind things! There must have been like a whole page I missed, since I didn't even know Kagome was back. Oh well.

I'll never not read rules again...

Hey, no problem. Just fill out our little thing we have people fill out, and be sure to make a voice sample and you might be in, don't worry about not following the rules, you would not believe the incredible amount of people who don't.

And TESM I do voice acting as a hobby too, dude! I don't intend for it to be a future career option or anything really, as of right now it's just a hobby. I still try hard and I know the experience and things I learn can only help me in the future. But no, I don't think it's hollow.

Gee, that is not a small request by any means, my friend. And I find it sorta selfish.
If a member of this club or the VAA gets pro work then I'm going to be happy for them, rather than jealous, and I'm sure many others will feel the same way.

I haven't been able to land any pro roles yet (I've been called to 4 cartoon auditions and 1 commercial), but the success of others doesn't detract from my abilites or confidence at all, nor should it.

Cristina and Kagome both have a lot going for them and some great talent, which is why I'm glad to see all the time they've spent and work they've done is begininning to pay off. I hope to soon hear of the same happening to many other online VAs I've met.

I know, but like I said I want to go pro as soon as possible, and the fact the Kagome is only 2 years younger than me concerns me.

But I guess I'd better stop all this before I get disliked here

Sorry to hear how stressed you are. ^^;;
i've had the same exact problem with you. (only in my case, it was doing manga comics or singing professionally.)
i'd get so frustrated and jealous when i see/hear new people come out; i'd get even more jealous if the person wasn't all that good. *lol*

Heck, i used to get jealous when i couldn't get roles here on New Grounds or on the VAA! XD

But don't worry! VOICE ACTING JOBS WON'T RUN AWAY JUST BECAUSE ANOTHER PERSON'S LANDED A PRO GIG! >.>;;;
Okay, so if it was a certain character that you wanted to do that got taken, that's too bad.

Look. i'm 25 years old. *lol*
i'm more than 10 years older than you. (i think)
i just now started putting together clips.
Like Elliair said, Tony the Tiger didn't get his break until he was 37.

i read your posts from the VAA.
(i was actually lurking around, just not posting)
Take it easy! >.>;;; Please!
Learn to make more demos, do more amateur auditions!
i promise you, you'll start to feel less stressful once you do more.

This may be a far out example, but do you know 2pac Shakur, the rapper? He made so many demos and rough versions while he was alive, that the record company kept putting out "new" songs even after 2pac was shot and killed!! XD
Talk about dedication!

i see you already have an LJ. You can use that to rant and complain if you need to. (which you already seem to be doing. That's a good start.) i really don't think it's a good idea to tell people to stop announcing thier great news. >.>;;;
Would you like it if someone said for you to not annouce that you've landed your very first role, just because it hurts their feelings?

Okay, don't know how much of this (if at all) you read, but i hope you understand.

WE'RE NOT PUTTING YOU DOWN!
YOU AREN'T INFERIOR BY ANY MEANS!
YOU AREN'T THE ONLY ONE THAT HASN'T GONE PRO!
MOST OF US ARE OLDER THAN YOU AND HAVEN'T GONE PRO!
IT'S OKAY! WE'RE HERE TO PUMP EACH OTHER UP!

i think those summarize what i was trying to say. >.>;;;
Wow, my first mega post. *lol*

She's been pursuing voice acting a lot longer than you have, and is more experienced and sounds closer to a professional level than you are as a result.

Oh, and I'm not digging this whole "as soon as possible" thing, unless you've already paid for the plane ticket from Scotland to ADV studios in Texas, and the plane leaves in 20 minutes, and you've already made plans to live in the garage of a retired Houston man, who insists upon you referring to him as "Captain Rudy".

Please take some time to listen to advice you've received, and work on developing your range, projection, and getting deeper into character, before diving into the potential "Shark Tank" that is professional voice acting.

You've shown that you've got some potential, but if you really wanna make it in this, it's going to take time.

Hey don't feel bad. The work I will most likely doing is nothing like anime dubs; just local radio + possibly TV commercials for stores and events here in Alaska (which isn't exactly a huge populated area...lol) The fact is no one can really get into anime dubs unless they live near the studio, and for me that will be probably 4+ years from now so no rush.

Here's a tip, I know you don't like how hated you became over at the VAA. But telling us what we can and can't talk about will only get you hated over here too. This isn't your thread. It isn't anyone's. We talk about what we want, and unless it's ignorant/flaming/hateful, anything is fair game.

Well maybe to other people then yes it can be. The problem with me is that I've got a very sensitive ego

Well, sorry to tell you this buddy, but you'll probably have to grow thicker skin if you want to do any VA work, pro or amateur. It's 95% rejection and criticism.

I want to go pro as soon as possible, and the fact that Kagome is only 2 years younger than me concerns me.

Duder, she is 6 years younger than me, 8 or 9 years younger than Omahdon/Edwyn, etc... and it seems you've only just recently decided to do AVA. Just settle down, there's no huge rush, Voice Acting will still be around tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. You are not ready to go pro, you have no training, no real practical experience, and these things don't happen in a few weeks. It takes TIME.

I also want to clear something up before it gets out of hand since you're new here. The thread is for public VA related conversation, and a place for flasists to post available roles. It is not an Instant Messaging service. If you are privately addressing only one person (I realize I'm only talking to you right now, but I want everyone to read this too) then send an email or IM. For example, your little back and forth with Mypuddle could have been an IM. It would have been quicker and kept our thread cleaner. This is one of our rules, so just keep that in mind.

I know you came over from the VAA after having some bad experiences there. Maybe you hope that NG will be different. Just from hearing what you have to say, and reading some posts elsewhere, it seems pretty clear to me that maybe you expect other people to change how they act to your liking. I would like for you to have a good experience here at the VAC and have the opportunity to grow as an AVA. But you will only find yourself in the same situation here if you don't realize that perhaps it's YOU that has to change. Only time will tell of course, but it's possible that the VAC will piss you off just as much as the VAA. If so, I recommend you take a long hard look at yourself and ask if this really is everyone else's fault... or perhaps just yours.
