Cajun thief. Ripway is ace and easy to use. Just make sure you signed up for free file sharing and not a website. MAke sure that when you record a sound byte You export it in the file menu from audacity as an MP3 I noticed in one of your earlier post that it was a .bak file... WTF mate whered you grab that file? Those are apart of a combination of files that make up adaucity project files which you can open up and edit, with out importing them like a sound file. On ripway just sign up and make sure you bookmark your file page, and make sure ripway remembers your name and password and its easy to use. Its never given me any of the troubles of which you seem to be havin. Once youve played and test your sound file for quality, Which all good voice actors should do, Upload it onto your files page on ripway then click the continue link. After that it should provide you with two seperate url's that will link to the sound bite and the sound bite should play in a sperate window if you click that url. It should be an Mp3 and nothin else. Test the link yourself before you post it as apart of your profile, simply paste the url into your browser and see what happens. If it dosent play your soundbyte like it should its verry unlikely that it will play for us. I hope this helps and dosent confuse you worse -_-'
I hvae fnaly got a voice demo up. I'm kinduv an amature at making voice demos, so I couldn't slash in music, so I played music in the background. If it sucks and someone has already said it, don't say it again. Once is enough.

Well you should take a look at any of the girls demos, Elliars Toplekas and Kagomes ofcourse. They have what seem to be to me very professional souding demos. Mainly because they show case the wide variety of voices they can do with a music bed. Often times its amirriad of clips from stuff they've already done. What you did was a verry funny short Radio play and it showcased 4 or 5 of the voices you could do and this could indeed serve you as a demo reel. BUT! if you wanted to kick it up a notch you could try to model a different demo reel similar to the ones of the above peoples that I mentioned. I tried to model my demo reels after there format. even though mine still need a little work on levels or music bed.
When seeing if your lines sound right dose any one else here listen to something they've just recoreded with their eyes closed? Some times when A line sounds righ but something might be off I always close my eyes and listen to it a second time, and thats usually the final test for me. I dunno maybe im crazy-_-'
Well, I don't realy feel like making another ne just yet. That last one took me 2 hours to make, with bloopers and stuff. Then it took me another 3 hours to get it hosted. I'll work on another one....later....ya later.

Actually, that might be it. And if you have Audacity, definetely save your file as an MP3. And then write your url similar to Kerreck-Resputin's demo.
Kerreck-Resputin That was good, but not great. It was funny, the impressions were decent but they all sorta sounded the same, except for slightly changed accents and stuff. And, in my opinion, (and this might be totally wrong so unless someone else says the same thing don't even listen to me) you should keep your demos politics free. Mainly because some people might disagree with your views and choose not to cast you...I don't know, that would be stupid but there are people who might do that. You also don't want people telling you that your views are incorrect saying crap like, "Bush isn't bombing Iraq for the sake of bombing Iraq! Let's fill the thread with a usless political debate!" and stuff. I don't know, I just think that a voice demo should server that purpose and only that purpose, to be a demonstration of your voice and not of your politics. I could be totally wrong and people will most likely tell me that is a dumb and pointless thing for me to say...oh well. Nice job overall, but it needs work.
Well, unfortunetly its to late to delete it. I just did it because I can't do anything else. I can't copy any character si've heared in movies or video games......knwo that I think about it, I shouldn't even have thought I had a ghosts chance of getting inot this club. I cna't do any dcent impressions. I'm an actor, not a voice actor. My work shoyuld be on the stage not on the mic. I cna't be a voice actor.Plz disregard any wantings of me to be in this club.

Hey, I don't do a lot of impressions very well, I do some but not everyone can. Voice acting isn't all impressions, you know. But, if you just want to give up on joining, whatever. And I don't think anyone said you weren't in the club, though. Just because you can't do Bush's voice doesn't mean you can't act or vocie act. But again, if you want to give up no one can stop you. Practice and you'll get better. If you can act people will cast you, you don't have to be able to do impressions. You said you are an actor, right? So show people you can act!
All people want know-a-days are voices for parodys, and I cna't do any voices from those. All I can do is sing and fake accents. No one needs a singer in flash, or fake accents.
or if it says a whole bunch of words like mine does,
Kerrick, Think of something you love or feel pationately about, lines from your favorite play, Movie, Tv Show, HBO special anything. And preform it verbally. You dont have to do crazy voices to get a job VAing for flash you just need to be able to show people you can give life to characters through your voice if you can act youve one more than half the battle. Ive heard demo reels of people doing nothing but looney toons voice but no acting, those arent balanced reels. Think os something you saw in a play a movie or a tv show. Something that moved you something you thought was verry funny, scared you or mad you really feel what the characters were feeling. Find that and youve got a perfect line to voice act. make your reel of those. .AUp files are project files you need to convert it into a MP3 Cajunthief
Please everyone just SHUT UP. WTF is going on in this thread? We've gone pages and pages with nothing but non-VA related crap. Technical problems are ok to post here once and a while, but y'all have really over stayed your welcome as far as I'm concerned.
Kerreck-Resputin: K, you've had your fun. I couldn't even get to your file so I don't know what it even sounds like. But seriously, you're cluttering up this thread, and I'm getting pissed about it. You are welcome to come here, post a serious (***SERIOUS***) profile if you like. You're welcome to engage in meaningful VA related conversation. But FFS just stop this pointless banter. If you have any questions or problems, you can email ME or some of the other more experienced mainstays in the VAC roster.
cajunthief: You too buddy, please shut up. As far as I'm concerned, people get 3 chances to get it right. You have struck out my friend. Take a month away from this board and practice VAing, saving as mp3, and uploading files we can all link to. Come back and repost your profile once you can do it on your own. If you have questions, ask ME please or someone else in EMAIL or IM/MSN/Yahoo. Stop cluttering the thread. Flashists will never cast you in a role if they have to hold your hand thru a recording process like we are doing now. Learning to do it yourself is good for you.
TESM: I'm glad your artwork is improving. I'm glad that your artwork is improving everyday. I'm sick of your constant daily updates though. This is a VA thread, not an artwork thread. You're WAY off topic. It started out nice enough, you were drawing everyone in the VAC, or you were working on a flash series that we were gonna VA in. But maybe you should just keep your drawings off this board until you're done with something. It's been like 2-3 months you've been talking about this all with nothing in final form. I'm bored and I don't think anyone else cares anymore either. Finish something, then post it so we can all be interested again.
Also, TESM you're sorta pissing me off with your seemingly "I own the VAC" attitude. I'm not looking to start a fight here, but you haven't heeded my previous posts. Klepto_Bysmal is right. You alone won't decide people's fate here. You are not a mod. Stop thinking you are one.
To my friends who have left the VAC: I miss you guys. This is in fact what I was afraid would happen if y'all left. I would hate to leave the VAC myself, but I can only stick around for so long. As it is I (as Omahdon has) have been checking here less and less. I will stick it thru for a while, but if the VAC goes the way of every other lame thread on the NG BBS I too will eventually bow out.
To the newcomers: The VAC has been a wonderful place. Tucked away in between thousands of pointless idiotic threads, it was a place I looked forward to visiting everyday. The people were so much more REAL than anywhere else online, and the conversation was intelligent and meaningful. I encourage everyone to put in a little effort to keep it that way. All good things come to an end, but that end doesn't have to come prematurely.
Ok, my last post was a lot darker/depressing/pistoff sounding than I meant it to be. So I will *DOUBLE-POST* it and add some possitives.
TripleArrow: Your patience is admirable. I appreciate your willing attitude to help out people, whether it be technical issues or sticking-with-this-first-post-every-page-e
ven-if-no-one-reads-it. Keep up the good work in the VAC, it doesn't go unnoticed.
D-Mac: You too. You along with Kagome are the only first pagers we have still (it's been a while since we saw Foxphere). Loyalty like that also does not go unnoticed.
Fenix_Onslaught: Another helpful person showing patience and caring towards our n00bs.
Kagome: I'm glad you've been able to keep your head up thru all the mess of the last week or two. Despite what some people say I don't think you act like you own this thread. You may say things like "technically I'm the leader..." but you never head-trip about it.
AudioTransmitter7000: Hey, I'm glad you seem to be sticking to the VAC so far. You will get respect if you earn it, and that takes time and patience. Keep a possitive attitude, audition for roles, and participate in VA related conversation here and you will be a mainstay in good time. I'm not saying this because I decide anything, or because I think I'm a mod here, but because I've been in the VAC for a while and I see how things tend to work. How some people come and go quickly, and how others stick it thru. We need a few more of the latter.
Frogs - Agreed, this club is somewhat...going to shit.
Omahdon - I'd appreciate it if you'd remove the long paragraph you wrote about me on the FAQ page of the roster, especially since--and sorry to bring up old issues but---the producer even said he never gave someone else the role-which was quite obvious all along. If you could please delete the "anonymous" reference to me on there, that would be appreciated. You are welcome to discuss this further thru email or IM if you are interested.

Hey guys.. since we have nothing better to do today.. I have a poll for ya.. just too bad like.. you can't make one but here goes:
Who has a better VA Voice?
Kagome
Topleka
Elliair
(This would be the HARDEST choice.. what do you think?)
BTW: Every girl does great but out of these three cause' I didn't want to get too complexed with many females.. ooh my head would hurt.. tell me what you'd think of that as a poll.. as I said.. I think it is hard..

That poll is a REALLY bad idea -_-;; I vote for Topleka but...still..that's not the kinda thing we want in this club.

Well I was EXTREMELY bored.. so... I'm just special.. :(
uh Kagome-San I still need the voice sample for the kid. And doesen't anyone in here know hwo to do the voice for Agent Smith?
Gah I seem not be be able to do some of the voices I usually do as easy... Does anyone know anything that can help with VA-ing? I think I heard something like water and honey works; I'm not sure.

*de lurk*
I can't remember who it was but there was a Matrix flash a bit back and someone was Smith, sorry I can't help *re lurk*
A hobo stick with a can of beans and a pocket full of dreams.. lol
Oro. Polls that like normally lead to pain. ^_^;; I'm definitely flattered that you like my voice, and those girls are excellent actresses as well, but it's really not fair to pick a certain AVA as the one with the best voice. I will honestly admit that my high-pitched girl voice is definitely worse than Kagome's or Elliair's. My forte has always been tomboys, goth girls, and boys.
Although for Edywn-dono, I'll play anyone. ^_-

I'm not even going to vote, mostly since I really don't know who I prefer. But this poll cna only lead to silent pain, this is a bad poll.
I asked what you thought of it.. I didn't say vo.. well I did say vote if you wanted but I said the decision is IMPOSSIBLE! I say it would end in a "no contest".
Ne..it's okay. People here already compete for roles, so I just didn't think the poll thing was such a good idea. *hugs* It doesn't make a difference to me if people do vote, because as Topleka said, we all have our individual strengths/weaknesses in voice acting, which is why it's hard to compare.
I'll try to send that kid line tonight.

Egads! Can it be! Hot on the heel of one megapost comes! Another megapost the page after! WHAT CRAZINESS WILL HAPPEN NEXT?
cajunthief: Well, I actually had an answer for your problems in the FAQ section, but here: a tutorial for Audacity. Have a listen to Shuko and that --KennethMichaels-- fella as well, since they seem to have the goods on how to use Audacity. But seriously, if you're not getting after this point, you might just want to do what Frogs suggested and just step AWAY from here and experiment for a while. Experiment for a LONG while. Try and get the basics down yourself before coming back. I mean, we're here to help and we'd be glad to offer advice when you ask for it, that's certainly true. We're not a completely heartless bunch. But we also don't believe in step-by-step handholding and we especially don't believe in spamming up the thread with constant cries for assistance and posting links which don't work (that you SHOULD have tested before posting in the first place. If they don't work for you, they're probably not gonna work for anyone else). Get in contact with us privately or try to do a little more legwork of your own before posting back here. And if you actually have been reading properly you'd notice someone said way back when that an AUP file is Audacity's work-in-progress file and not the actual voice sample itself. It's like the difference between a book, filled with pages and words, and a dustcover. What you're uploading now is the equivalent of a dustcover. Stop making that same mistake.
Shuko: Actually, to be completely honest, I've only seen about 5 episodes of Darkwing Duck all the way through at the very most. And that's because I am a very, very bad man who doesn't appreciate his Saturday Morning Disney cartoons as he should. :-( But that speech was quite the hillarity and stuck in my mind because it parodies its older cousin The Shadow so well. Godbless that Orson Welles! Anyway, in regards to the distortion that occurs when the volume gets too high: Well, if you were using Cool Edit Pro, I'd recommend you use some amplitude effects called "Dynamics Processing", "Normalize" or "Hard Limiting" in order to up that volume. With Audacity however, I really haven't a clue, sorry! Unless, of course, you're talking about the background hum that comes with every recording, in which case you can use the noise reduction feature on Audacity to help you out.
And yes! You can modify your profile when it's up by adding clips, changing your email address, modifying your screenname, switching your gender.... Errrr.... and so forth. Just be sure to flag me down with an "ATTN: Omahdon-daisenseisamadono" and I may (just may!) grace your post with an incurious glance.... Before scurrying off and updating the roster with the speed of a lazy sloth.
AudioTransmitter7000: Errrrr.... No, seriously. I'm not saying that I need a profile and clips submission from you to be mean, nasty and/or elitist.... Well, mostly. I'm saying that I need a profile and clips submission from you in order to add you to the roster PERIOD (either the Temp or the Mainstay). It's kinda hard to add you to the Temp roster when all I've got is a name. Gimme your email address (plus other contact info you want up) as well as what clips you want up as examples of your voice. And your poll is a really, really, REALLY bad idea. That's an explosion waiting to happen right there. I mean sure, if you said which MALE NGVAC voice actor was the best there would be no contest whatsoever. For as everyone knows, the best male NGVAC voice actor, and therefore the most superior as a human being, who is also very handsome, charming and totally ON with the ladies, is-- *gets drowned in a deluge of flame posts*
-Steven-: You might have better luck getting a Gir voice on the Voice Acting Alliance. Just be sure to read the rules first before posting a request. They kinda come down hard on people who post something along the lines of "need gir voice, k plz? ur mom". Still, if you're desperate for a Gir voice, here's me acting out a Zim and Gir scene from one of my favourite Invader Zim episodes (that I submitted to that IZ Fan-Animated Series board, but was ultimately rejected for being too stinky. Or so they said): "Germs"
Kerreck-Resputin: What Frogs said. Only possibly with a smidgen less negativity. Actually no, about the same amount and with more sarcasm. What I said in reply to cajunthief applies to you as well: We're here to help and we'd be glad to offer advice when you ask for it, that's certainly true. We're not a completely heartless bunch. But we also don't believe in step-by-step handholding and we especially don't believe in spamming up the thread with constant cries for assistance. Get in contact with us privately or try to do a little more legwork of your own before posting back here. Though it seems that everybody here and their grandmother are tossing suggestions at you on what to do, anyway. And your immediate assumption that voice acting is just imitating other well-established characters or real-life personas troubles me.
Frogs: Angry. Angry young man. A lot braver and honest about matters here than I could ever be. Yeah, sticking around the NGVAC isn't quite as fun as it used to be now that a lot of the regulars seem to have become reticient or just plain disappeared off the face of the earth. I have to admit, I'm doing it mainly out of a sense of obligation to update that roster every so often now. The roster, once my creation, has become my master. Frightening stuff there.
KagomeHigurashi: All righty, will modify next update.
Shock_Dingo: Hot tea with honey apparently works wonders on the throat, clearing up excess mucus and cleansing the palate. Avoiding milk is also a good practice, though you can make some really weird noises with a lot of muculage (which can help with certain voices, I guess). You'll just be clearing your throat a lot. And the person who did that Smith voice woulda be me-a. Yarr.
topleka: *shakes sailor moon outfit at you with weird eye sparkle* @_@
And now I rest five measures.
well frogs, i'm sorry i couldn't make you feel better, i try very hard to please just you anyways. oh well, impress as you must for me to change. you can have the VAC, you say things very curtly, and i do as well in my own manner. so if i pissed you off, let me send you a card.
this is a VA thread, and over time i've been weeding out the hard working trusted VAs from the lesser ones. Who knows how i've been doing this and who knows where i'll probe next. it's all very elaborate, so i don't expect anyone else to understand my methods.
i guess i'll just stop posting my stuff in your thread.
sorry.
i'm simply on the lookout, everything said and done matters very much.
