Living at home huh. Well good luck to ya! I know I couldn't wait to get out on my own. My parents are cool and all (a big whatWHAT to Chuck and Alice!) but I just needed out. Alaska to Texas... big change. Hotter, more annoying accents, more Republicans. Not really my kinda place.

And now for something COMPLETELY different: Chips & Pete is now up on the portal. It features my original music (my first real chance to score a movie on NG) as well as the voices of our own Elliair, D-mac and Topleka. Go, watch, vote! Good job everyone, and B-group esspecially for a great animation.

Just thought I'd let anyone who was interested know I'll be missing for a few days as I'll be moving.

It's great, I feel all warm and fuzzy. I didn't know we were moving untill I was told tonight that I'd need to wake up early tomarrow and start haulin'. :D

Anyways, I just figured I'd let anyone who wants to audition for any of the roles for Purgatory know: Obviously, my inbox still works, and I'll catch up and respond to them all when I return, if there are any. :o

I am getting a job, I just got a call from the head office or whatever and they want me to start tuesday. It's just a little hardware store here in town, they are starting me at $6.50 per hour. That's kept me busy, that and trying to write a good script for my upcoming flash. There are like 3 or 4 directions I could go with it but I don't know which is the right way to go. It really is going to be awesome and the plot is SWEET, I just need to write a good script. Since I consider myself a good writer I didn't want to ask for help...curses on my foolish pride. But maybe I need help, who knows.

Here is my original post:

At 5/26/05 11:05 PM, Zinger2099 wrote: I'm looking for a number of voice actors for a major flash motion picture. The movie will be split into a 10 part mini-series that is schedualed to arrive at newgrounds winter 2005. There are plenty of parts to go around, both female and male. Most of them are teenage parts, with a couple of adult parts in there. I'll come out with a full list of all the available parts in the near future, until then if you are interested please contact me.

email: zinger2099@hotmail.com
msn: same as email
AIM: zinger2099

This is a serious movie/drama, there is little to no comedy in it and I'm looking for good actors who can play their parts well. Also, there is a number of parts for Jerk type characters (bullies, mean jocks, and the like.) so if you can do one of those, great!

There is more male parts then female parts, and one part (the role of a teacher) can be either male or female.

If you have any more questions regarding this, please contact me.

I am already impressed with the response I got. A number of people responded quickly. The problem with that was there is limited female parts and I got a lot of actresses who wanted to audition. I may not have a part for you all, but I will try and add some smaller parts into the last 3 episodes to give everyone a place to be in my movie. However if you are a girl and would still like to audition, don't let the knowledge that lots already have stop you from doing so. The more the better.

As for the male responses, I got two. Which is not enough. So if you're an actor and are thinking about getting a part, by all means contact me. The lack of other actors gives you a very high chance of getting a part.

And now, as promised, a list of all the characters so far. There are some new characters that I will add to this list in the near future, as parts 7 through 10 are still being scripted. Also, these are just the roles that have not already been taken, as the 3 lead roles are going to be played by myself, a close friend of mine and the very talented KagomeHigurashi of NGBBS.

Male Roles:

Nathan: The main Antagonist in the story. This guy is the lead jerk. A prime example of a bully in today's society, he and his lackies (Every head jerk has them.) make their way through highschool by preying on the weak. This role requires foul language, so if you are uncomfortable with saying certain things it's probably best you don't go for this role.

Kyle: Another antagonist so to speak. This guy is a jerk but on a lesser degree. He is more of a Jock type of jerk, he doesn't really go around bullying people but he isn't exactly nice to them either.

Mike: Another jock type of character. He isn't a jerk but he'll laugh at the expense of others if given the chance. I wouldn't call him an antagonist as he doesn't oppose the lead character in any way, but he isn't exactly fond of the lead character either.

Wayne: This guy is an anoying know-it-all nerd/jerk. Every class has at least one of them. They've got a really high IQ and they think they're better then everyone else because of it. They usually have little to no friends and get perscuted by all jerks alike, but somehow they still manage to think they are god's gift to earth. This guy opposes the lead character every chance he gets, so he is another antagonist to add to the ever growing list.

Jerk1 - Jerk2 - Jerk3: These guys are Nathan's goons. Typical jerks who take immense joy out of the suffering of others. Jerk1 is an extensive part while jerks 2 and 3 are smaller parts. All three require foul language, so again, if you are not willing to say certain words then playing these characters is not for you.

There will deffinatly be a couple more male parts added to this list in the future, as a few more new roles are going to show up in episodes 7 to 10.

And now the Female Parts:

Sarah: This girl is like your typical girl on PMS. Except she's like that all the time. She's got a serious attitude and isn't affraid to show it. If she doesn't like you, you'll know it for sure. This role requires extensive swearing. She likes the word fuck, what can I say? *chuckles*

Josh's Mom: The mother of the lead role. She has a raspy harsh cranky voice that sounds like what most people sound like when they wake up in the morning on the wrong side of the bed. Except she's like that 24/7. She's a bitch-extraordinaire and doesn't miss an oppourtunity to jump at telling her least favorite son how much of a screw up he is. I'm looking for a specific voice for this role. Also this voice does require a lot of yelling/nagging.

There is at least 2 more female roles that will be added in the last 3 episodes. I'll post their descriptions later.

These roles can be played by a male or a female actor:

Teacher: One of the less entertaining teachers to have at the front of the class. This teacher doesn't tollerate malconduct of any kind. Late for school? You can bet you're on this person's bad-side. Don't do homework? You get the picture.

Cop1 and Cop2: Two police officers. They sound and act like, well, normal police officers. What can I say? They aren't really that specific of characters, so really just about any voice will do for these.

There may be more characters added to this list in the future.

Well that's the list of characters so far. If you are interested in a specific one please let me know. Also, the role of Nathan might already be taken as there is one person I am highly concidering for that role.

If you have any more questions regarding these characters, or anything else regarding the movie, you're free to contact me, or post in this topic, and I will get back to you.

Thanks to anyone who wishes to participate.

Wow, this place has been kinda slow lately. Looks like things are going well, though. I've been busy mainly with my own projects as a fandubber, but I definitely haven't forgotten about this place. Congrats to Kagome on graduating. College will definitely be fun. But even though classes take less time I found myself with a lot less time to record than when I was in high school. At least you don't have to worry about scaring your roommate XD (not like I ever did >.> BLATANT LIE).

It's nice to see Chips & Pete up. I think the voices were pretty good, although Tony's mic quality sounded like it was peaking quite a bit.

Zinger: About how soon are you wanting some audition files? I ask since there's a few (okay, well, most of the male roles) I'd be interesting in trying out for, but some obligations this weekend won't let me record until monday-tuesday...

t0ast: The sooner the better, naturally, as the roles you want to play may be taken by tuesday. However there is no set time. I will gladly accept your audtion files whenever you can give them at your earliest convenience. Right now I have one male actor who is guaranteed either the role of Nathan or Kyle. Which one is yet uncertain. So by tuesday one of those will probably be gone, however that's not stopping you from auditioning for the other roles. The list that is up is not complete either, as some roles are going to be added in the last 3 episodes (which have not yet been scripted.)

Also, regaurding the roles, I should let everyone know that despite the fact that Jerk1 does not have a name, don't think of him as a minor role. He has a lot of lines and apears in at least 4 episodes, which is more then can be said for Nathan who suffers an accident in episode 3. (But Nathan is still an important role.)

I like ice cream.

Okay, so maybe I do have a subject. I gots zee influenza at the moment! Stupid shifting temperatures! I worked all of 2 days this week, spent the rest in a state of delusion. Got to order a large pepperpni stuffed cruct pizza through the use of complex hand motions and wild flailing, that was an experience. And as comes with the sickness, I have lost my voice. Completely. And there was much rejoicing. Yay. Thus my voice acting career goes careening off the road in a firey blaze like a bad James Dean metaphor.

Eh, this has been the longest the flu has ever lasted.... I've been sick for a damn week... So, if'n I don't get any better, I'm going to the hospital tomorrow! So if you never hear from me again I'm eithier dead or I found something better to do.

I should also say stuff.

Hobbes_The_Prints: Well, there goes some heavy competition. Er, I mean, we'll miss you buddy!

Kagomabeline: Whoo! I remeber when I graduated... Would you believe I didn't even bother showing up for graduation? And I use my deploma for a doorstop? And college is a total waste of time? Okay... yeah, you probably should ignore that.

Damn, I missed out on the monkey thing... sigh...

And absolutely no one actually listened to radio randoms 3, but that ain't gonna stop me from doing another one! So, anyone up for radio randoms 4? No? Hey, I just answered my own question.

D'oh, I'm losing it, I'd better act like a moron for a couple lines to keep the flow going.

Ah, I'll do it tomorrow.

*Sigh* Tony is I...and I have to say the quality really sucked on my part. I'm not sure why, though. I'm guessing it just didn't get compressed well with the flash movie, or something.

And..yes..the VAC has been very slow these days. I guess it's just that everyone's really busy with stuff. Summer is coming up though, so hopefully people will find more time to stay active and keep auditioning for roles here.

I'm still around, but I have been posting a lot less than I have been before, since the flaming with Sinar erupted, and because of all the off-topic stuff that's being posted a lot these days. Gah... I've also missed several first page posts.

As for school...I'm moving on up to my Junior year of highschool in Fall. Yay. Oh, Congrats to Kagome on graduating. I wonder what your GPA is. :)

And that's all from me!

Actually, no. It isn't. This post wouldn't be complete without me whoring around the VAC Karaoke Album #2 and reminding you of the VAC Chat tomorrow, 6pm PST on Yahoo!

Now, I'm done.

I've been just busy with recording lines and stuff. Trying to get them done and take a little break. I've been getting alot of people asking me on MSN to do a voice for them that I didn't audition for, and when I do, they say, "ok ... can you do it lower?" or "can you do it (blank) sort of way?" Sadly I miss the times when I auditioned, 'cause they KNEW the voice they wanted, and if it was me, then great. I think that kinda put me off as well, making me think I can't cut it. It can get quite frustrating when someone asks you to do something that they heard in your demo, and then say, "well, change it." Kinda defeats the whole purpose doesn't it?

Anyone else have that sort of thing?

The second role I ever diddid was a bunch of voices from my first voice demo. Actually the flash author didn't say anything about how he wanted it to go, he just made all the characters in the flash take on the voices in the demo exactly. Mercifully that project died with a whimper.

And did everyone stop talking to each other in here?

And just as I typed that, the author in question logged onto MSN to talk to me... odd... I better go lie down before the irony of that kills me.

You mean, outside of this thread?

If so, no. I keep in touch with a lot of the people here outside the thread. Including you (probably not as of late, though). I seem to be having a lot more communication with Isca though, than anyone else here. She's just so fun to talk to.

And Hobbes, I think I feel you on this one. It's really frustrating when you can't quite get your voice to the way said producer wants it, especially if they're just SO damned picky.

My problem is, I don't always know what i want but I know what I don't want, so the person will do the thing and I'll be like "No, that's not it." And if they want to try again with something different I'll let them, but I wont tell them "ok, now do it this way." unless they ask me how I want it done. But I see how that can get anoying for the actor.

Constantly. I get told to do the voice a certain way, and then to change it...usually it doesn't bother me, but it does in the case where I do 30+ lines and THEN they decide they want a different voice.

I've got a surprise for you all.....I was doing this for my friend as a joke when he called me today, but he thought it was funny xD

Ow... well I'm back from my insane 2 day hike... the pain =(

I'm going to get right on that e-mail jazz once I curl up on the floor and pass out. I quickly read through the 2 pages I was absent for and I gots to say, YOU GUYS NEED ME!... Purely for the annoying posts every 5 mins, of course =D

-Frogs-: As I've just said, I've been absent, which may explain the whole "slowness" here. But now that I'm back things will be A-ok! *thumbs up*
Oh, and about those lines I got you to record a while ago. I'm still working on that flash, no worries about that, but I'm finishing this Star Wars one I have going right now.
Also, now that I think about it, Omahdon hasn't been here in a while to spread his wonderful holiday cheer... despite the fact that it's never the holiday season. Silly Omahdon =D

secret_toad: Hey if you're still looking for a VA then count me in! I'm going on a recording spree tomorrow mostly because the my throat is the only thing that doesn't hurt, but also because I'm in a voice recording mood!

EvilSqueegee: Aww... Just when I get back, you're moving... Hope the whole moving ordeal goes over swimmingly!

Kagome: Even though I've already congradulated you on graduating, I'm going to do it again. Because it's fun! Congrats on graduating! Weeee! You're plans of moving to Texas sound quite fascinating, I hope all goes well for ya! I've only been to Houston once, but I found it to be a nice place... On a weird side note, I've actually met a girl who talks like stereotypical anime girls and it was how she naturally speaks... It was like I was in an anime, which was kind of fun =D

A thousand apologies for being away for so long. I was held back from postage by a dastardly combination of Baten Kaitos for the Gamecube (So. Much. F***KING. Micro. Management. Of. Decks. But. Can't. Look. Away!) and the crunch time for a group-based project (due in less than a week and not everybody has handed their stuff in to me to collate it. argh). I apologise to all the applicants between this and my last post who were probably waiting for that beloved ACCEPTED or hated REJECTED or confusing YO MAMA.

.... Nobody missed me, did they? ;_; SHUNNED! *sobs sobs* *recovers* But anyway there's a silver cloud on every lining and a penny saved is two birds in the bush! ONWARDS! I shall now leap into the fray and try and tackle 15+ pages worth of missed messages. Oy. Maybe I'll just reply to stuff from the last 5 pages or so.

Except for the following stuff that stand out for me:

TVs_Slayer: I'm starting top doubt the validity of the NGVAC roster as well. I mean, it LOOKS pirdy and all (in a.... highly plain black-n-white sorta way) but I seriously doubt it gets the use it's supposed to since most producers just post here asking for help and people leap unto them like a rabid pack of dogs. So.... I guess the only reason it still exists is because I maintain it. Hmmm.

Isca: My condolences on the situation you're currently in (well, when you posted a week ago), and hope you can find a job and perhaps another acting class to enroll into somewhere else. Good luck!

And it looks like we got ourselves another pariah dog in the form of Sinar on page 154! I wanna flame people making eyebrow-raising demands followed by incoherent threats, too! I'll be the k3wl357 guy on the interweb! WOO! But now it's all over and I missed out on all the excitement. It makes me unhappy on the inside. ;_; Oh well. There'll always be Paris. They like Jerry Lewis, you know. That's gotta be breaking some kind of law, somewhere.

Anyway, let's start replying to stuff from p155, since there's greater likelihood that people' remember that far back. Maybe. Probably not.

EvilSqueegee: Dude, your writing looks keen and it looks like you've really worked things out with an eye towards detail. I'd love to audition for your stuff. In fact, I will do so, right now!

Revenge_Is_Fun: And since I popped zombie sounds in EvilSqueegee's inbox, I've popped some in yours too! ZOMBIES FOR EVERYONE!

Hobbes_The_Prince: Yup, I've had that sort of problem before. Super picky producers who want EXACTLY a certain actors voice and want no other. It's pretty frustrating, especially when you know you can't do it, but you're hoping against hope that another one of your voices will do the job. But it doesn't. Wasting all that time you took to audition. Rats.

KagomeHigurashi: Congrats on graduating high school! That was the easy part. Now the pain begins. @_@

I haven't seen it yet, but congrats to everyone who was Chips & Pete!! It's riding on a nicely high score right now!

And now for the happiness that is reviewing the applicants for the....

THE NEWGROUNDS' VOICE ACTING CLUB ROSTER!!!!

Let's start with the first application I can find after page 145 of this thread!

lil_philip (147)
PROS: Nothing
CONS: Everything
VERDICT: If you want to join the club, check out the How to Join? section of the Newgrounds' Voice Acting Club Roster. It'll provide the details for how to join, as well as help on how to fill the requirements. PLEASE DO NOT POST A PROFILE WITHOUT A SAMPLER UPLOADED SOMEWHERE FOR DOWNLOAD. DO NOT SAY "I'LL MAKE ONE LATER" OR "I'll GET A MICROPHONE IN THREE MONTHS" OR "EMAIL ME FOR SAMPLES PLZ, K?". GET A SAMPLER, HAVE IT UPLOADED AND LINK IT BEFORE POSTING YOUR PROFILE. THIS IS NOT A NEGOTIABLE POINT. THIS MESSAGE IS IN ALL-CAPS AND BOLDED FOR A REASON. SORRY IF IT SEEMS REPETITIVE, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THIS POINT WAS CONVEYED PROPERLY. Finally, this is a VOICE ACTING club. It is not a I CAN DO ALL THESE VOICES THAT I DON'T HAVE TO PROVE I CAN DO BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A MIC club. Don't try and join if you don't have a working microphone. That's just plain stupid.

.... Urgh. Moving on.

Twinx0r (149)
PROS: Very nice and practical demonstration of the kind of voices you can do and your acting ability. Clear samples with no background noise.
CONS: It's a little soft until it gets SUPER LOUD WITH EFFECTS at the end, but apart from that, it's all peachy.
VERDICT: Welcome aboard! Your profile will be added to the roster shortly.

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE gap of no applications. Works for me. UNTIL!
