Call it a mini megapost I suppose!

Frogslegs: I suppose looking at my living room right now TV's Slayer could be taken literally. But it was on its last legs anyway, so lets just say I gently eased it into the big Sanyo afterlife. But in actuality my name is a referrence to a television personality, like when some washed up third stringer from love boat shows up on some infomercial at four in the morning hawking nipple salve, they are usually introduced as 'TV's Whomever', because no one would know who they were otherwise. Plus its also a bit of a refference to that classic show MST3K. And the Slayer part comes from the fact that I've always fancied Slayer as my 'cool nickname' since I was eight years old, and it has nothing to do with the band, I just always thought Slayer sounded cool. Boy was i wrong in hindsight. God I need to think about what i'm gonna say before I say it to cut down on this needless banter... and about the unrelated stuff: I was just saying that to be saying that, I like staying on topic too, I'm just doing my civic duty here by challenging authority. Whoo! I'm a rebel!

TripleArrowhead: I'm pretty sure Audacity is free, at least thats what everyone else has been saying, but then I've never used it.

And hey, Sunday the 15th will be my official 2 month anniversary in outsourced voice acting! How exciting that first month was, at least maybe it just seemed more exciting cause I really haven't done anything this last month. Now hows this for going off topic? Er, anyway, With the last two roles I got accepted on this last week that puts my total up to a solid 30 roles, with an astounding 18 of those cancelled! But yet I slog on, reaching for that... whatever I'm reaching for. Its not like going professional is any consideration. Maybe I just need to find something better to do with my idle time. Like not posting random bs on an unrelated forum. I need a home...

Ooo, and if you want more unrelated chatter, that new Black Eyed Peas song is awesome, or maybe its that I just think that chick in the video is hot.

Omahdon: FINALLY, someone said something about this. It will include the dates of the chats 'n stuff, as well as be the storage place for all the recordings. Also, it may be home to VAC gatherings at conventions, too. That is, if we ever plan on participating in something like that. Y'know, like the VAA. Probably not likely, but maybe. Maybe.. (I sure wouldn't mind doing stuff like that with you all, anyway.)

Frogs: It may be a good time for the SECRET PROJECT *although is not entirely sure*. Oh, and Krazy Karl's! Eeek. I've had the clips for this project for a LONG time now. Aren't I reliable? *Sigh*

I got another question. I don't quite understand the uploading/downloading process. Can someone explain it? Again, if you find this annoying, I'm new at the whole VA thing, and I also like to have details on what too do so I don't look like a dumbass. Thanks in advance.

Well the fact that you're still here is a good sign... so here's an overview:

1) record lines on you computer
2) save as mp3 (MUCH smaller than .wav files) Audacity can do this when you save.
3) upload to a 3rd party server. Elliair has compiled a list in the roster.
4) email or post replies to animators seeking actors saying "interested, listen to my samples"
5) wait to get a role

The VAC Roster page has all these steps in WAY more detail. I recommend going there (link in my sig) and reading it thoroughly. It will walk you thru everything nice and slow, has links where you need them, and answers almost any other question you still might have. After that it's just about practice practice til you get better.

That helped one of my problems. I think stuff like age range, specialties, etc. are up to me to figure out. Again, thanks. I'm hoping to be ready to record a demo soon. What exactly needs to be on the demo, though? I need stuff that could show I can do the voices I mentioned, that much I know. While I try to get what I need, I'm going to spend my time practicing. And asking questions.

I did it!

Tonight I hit AND PASSED my goal of one hundred roles. I'm so thrilled! When I look back at my range when I started this gig, I'm amazed at how far I've come. I've gone from only doing middle range females to working with elderly ladies, british girls, even a boy role!

Guess I have to get around to making that better demo, now don't I? =P

Le megapost. She return. From the deep. The merciless, bottomless deep. Sacre bleu!

Revenge_Is_Fun: Aw pfoo. I can't get the image to the right size for the NG BBS sig without completely distorting the image and making the text unreadable. Bugger. But thanks for the link, anyway! I'm sure I could use it for other purposes. @_@

Dragonias: Hey, sarcasm in, sarcasm out, buddy. And you'll need to raise the volume after recording using the "amplify" option in your chosen sound editor. There's also an option to add a 20dB gain to your recordings which is somewhere in the advanced options of your mic sensitivity/volume settings.

kiwi_banger: I think the main reason why you haven't gotten any auditions yet is because you haven't really given any kind of info on your project. I mean, give us a bit of an incentive to try out for your production. What's the story all about? What are the personalities of the characters you need voiced? Can you give some example lines for us to try out? Is it a large project or a small project? How many fingers am I holding up? So many questions, so little time.... In any case, D-Mac_Double has the right idea, if you're having trouble with people coming to you, then you need to go to them using the roster info. 'Tis what it's there for.

Frogs: He's not the messiah! He's a very naughty boy!

Shock_Dingo: NI! Oh dear, this could turn into an avalanche of spectacularly unfunny attempts at quoting the Monty Python crew. I think I should stop now.

Elliair: You mean, having gatherings at conventions like the several the VAA has planned? What happens if those of us who are both at the VAA and NGVAC go to a convention where there is a gathering of both groups at the very same time? It'll be pandemonium, people! PANDEMONIUM! Like one of those movies with the Olsen Twins in it where they switch identities and confuse everyone with their antics. Oh how incredibly amusing they are! Ohohohohohoho! I want their sweet flesh. @_@ Anyway, I'll be turning up to the chat if I can.... 11:30AM on Sunday my time, right?

KitsuneSqueak: Like I said, I haven't been able to access the files on the freewebs server at all. O.o I think they've been eaten up, or something. Use ripway, I seem to have better luck with downloading from there. And resubmit your entire profile again when you reapply, sil vous plait.

Daeleo: Errrrr.... It looks like the first and the third link for your examples are the same? Not to mention the links currently appear to be broken.

Isca: Congratulations on hitting the 100 role mark! Banzai! Banzai!

And one profile review thingy.

Sakura-shino (141)
PROS: The quality of your samples are definitely much improved from before. Background noise is kept to a minimum and your voice comes through as clean and clear. You definitely have a gift for speaking quickly and for playing angry that SOUNDS angry.
CONS: The clips are kinda bit on the short side. A lot on the short side, really. And pretty limited in scope. You also forgot to list "Specialities" for your profile, but I'm going to assume "anime type voices" would be one of them.
VERDICT: Overall, I think you'd be a nice addition to the roster, you just need to work on a longer sample that shows off more of the emotions/voice types you can do. In any case, under those provisions: Welcome aboard! Your profile will be added shortly.

Rylord: Welcome to the VAC! Thanks for having some samples. I can see that you're really in the medium-low to low range. Cool! We need a lot more deep, "manly" voices to add to the roster. Not that no other guy here sounds manly. It's just that..that..er.. nevermind. >.>;

Omahdon: If we were actually going to attend conventions and stuff like the VAA does, we would probably have to attend conventions that the VAA isn't going to attend. That, OR- we could hook up with the VAA and engage in one huge VA gathering and have a wild orgy and uh...nevermind. >.>;;;

Oh, yeah, and I believe the chat is11:30am Sunday your time.

Speaking of chat, the VAC Chat is TODAY! w00t, w00t, and all that. Get Yahoo Messenger, and add Elliair_Lel. On Family, bitches.

I have a question what does the demon need to sound like?

Just..a deep 'scary' voice, they put a lot of effects on his voice in the actual show so you know, I can edit it and stuff. If you want, I can send you a voice sample thru email.

Oh yeah, I made a demo of some young boy voices last night, I think it still sounds kinda girly though, so I won't post it yet. :3
