3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsWell, under my definition of pro, *I'm* a pro, so it probably isn't a very good definition. Anyway, like I said, great demo. The competition amongst the women of the NGVAC just went up a notch for sure.
Naoki_san: Decent voices, but stop using Sound Recorder. All that fuzzy scractchy static comes from recording in 8bit WAVs. To kill that quantization noise, record at 16bit 44.1k. You can find the Audacity program somewhere on the roster page I think. It's free and pretty easy to use.
DarkKnightDamsel: Indeed... the competition for the female roles has just gone up a notch. Assuming you stick around anyways. Some of your lower voices are a little muddy sounding, maybe back off the mic a bit (proximity effect, bass tip-up for you brits) or boost between 2.5k and 6k with a subtle parametric EQ (depending on what software you use). Anyways great job, glad to see more people joining who get the ACTING part of voice acting.
Yeah the second demo especially is the "low-quality" version because a) the original was reaallly big. and b) I can't FIND the high quality version.
The second one was also made a little before the first, so that explains some of the noob-like mistakes (mic pop anyone?) but it had some voices that weren't in the first, so I thought it was important to post it too. ^_^ Thanks for the compliments.
Oh, and I'm not british. I just use my friend's webspace because he's awesome and lets me use it for free. I'm actually from Chicago. LoL

Okay, did you make words up to sound smart, or...Just, what is this parametric EQ thingy? Is it in my cheap freeware licensed under the GNU GPL or whatever Audacity uses?
I'm working on a Flash movie related to Chrono Trigger (No... not a sprite movie). It’s far from done though.
Anyway, is there anyone here that can voice act as an old wise man (perhaps British accent)?
To see a demo of the movie, check it out on my site:
Chrono Chronicles
In the future I would need more Voice Actors for characters such as Magus, Marle etc.

No, he's a really smart guy when it comes to audio. He's just giving tips on how to get everything to sound perfect basically. He knows all the tricks to getting some good quality audio, as long as you are willing to put in effort into making it sound good yourself and not record something poopy and expect those tips to absolutely fix everything. I find it damn near impossible to get rid of those PFFT noises when I say the letter "P" too close to the microphone, so I just kinda talk sideways from the mic, towards the monitor.

No, I didn't make any words up, at least not in that last plarking gnumtric. The parametric EQ is the best for voice because it has the least Phase distortion of all the filter. I know this is maybe gibberish to you... basically it doesn't fuck with the recording as much as the other EQ's. The FFT filter in CEP is very popular here at the NGVAC, not sure why... it is extremely destructive. Not sure if Audacity has a parametric EQ, maybe just a graphic EQ? anyways...

This is sound advice(HA! get it SOUND advice), listen to your doctor... "turn your head and cough". It's all about taking your time and listening carefully. Your ears are amazing tools, you just have to practice the steps between what you hear when you play back your recordings, and the clean natural sound of real life. By playing with dynamic control (compressors, limiters) the filters (EQ: treble, mid, bass balance) and noise reduction (noise gates and intelligent auto noise reduction) you will eventually learn how all these effects sound. Again, practice and patience....
ahh well then zodiac it seems we have a bit of a misunderstanding, your asumming that the stuff on that website is current, which it is not. I have improved even more since the completion of those attempts, but thanks for pointing that at to me, i was thinking of redoing them anyways. but... lets not let the suspense get to anyone else.

Special Notes: I don't do any girl or little children voices... My voice just isn't capable =P
I'm guessing that we're gonna have little voice battles or something? I didn't really see anything about that, just assuming of course. Kinda seems that VA's will get alienated though, and everyone will watch these little fake fights to see who wins ... leaving the person who didn't do as well feeling upset or bitter that they couldn't quite pull off what some other VA did.
You can count me out. I think we all have an individual talent and voice. Even though it's for fun, I'm scared to see if it gets dirty :P
Besides, how much longer will it take until people are doing impressions of Omahdon or Elliar? :)
-Hobbes
I'm excited for summer. I'm going to spend some of it sending my voice around to studios and such in the area.
Me too. That, and I like putting vinegar on Sour Cream and Onion Ruffles. They're good.
-Hobbes
Hobbes: Someone trying to do an impression of me? *Laughs* I'll stab you with a pencil before that ever happens. >:(
Oh, and I agree about the VA challenges and what not. These are quite entertaining, but for the sake of one's feelings, instead of making the challenge a "Oh, well I bet I can do a better voice than you can!" challenge, try making it an activity that would benefit all VAs participating. Like one where VAs can receive feedback and tips from others on how to improve. Sort of like that activity Frogs proposed on one of the 80's pages, but was never actually done (The Jury Deliberation scene, I think it was called).
Isca: Sounds like a good plan. <3 On my summer, I plan to do as much voice acting as possible (here, of course) and try to work on some flash animations, even.
LOL, I totally agree with you Elliair. I'm not the one who went to someone's website and based his opinion on stuff that the other person threw in there for fun ;), I'm just playing though, I have no real beef with the_zodiac in fact im glad to see someone else who enjoys doing vegeta voices. If you ever wanna chat just message me msn:Vegetasan1940@aol.com. anyways .... yeah..... (insert witty comment)
MC_Huggies: Welcome to the VAC, again. Actually, we've got about 40 or so male VAs in here (I'd say about only 5 or so of them are active, though), heh. Anyway. Thanks for having a demo of your voice. Since I'm supposed to grade you on your demo before I actually let you on aboard (or at least that's what I think I'm supposed to do), I suppose tell you what I think about it, just so you can improve and such:
Actually, I wasn't able to look at it. Dead link and such. :( But I guess since I'm nice, I'll let you in the VAC for right now. And when it's viewable, either myself or someone else can grade you on it. Welcome aboard!
Tetsu-kun: You both have awesome Vegeta voices. And The_Zodiak is actually very nice, indeed. Oh, and you have MSN now, eh? *Adds you to contact list*
Summer will probably be so busy for all of us. I just cannot wait for it. Of course, after this week, it IS my summer. Yay for university time! ^_^
ATTENTION ALL VA's:
I was talking to an animator (Guy who did Tim's World Series) and he wants to team up with me to write some episodes for a series. My mouse is complete crap, but he told me he would animate, which would be awesome 'cause then I can focus on writing the jokes and voice acting as well.
Here's my point.
I'm gonna try to flesh out everything and make sure it's iron-clad before I go asking for people for certain roles ... but ... I definately would like people in this forum to do voices on it. I'm trying to think of a way to perhaps make it a neighbourhood type thing like the Simpsons, but instead of 3 of us doing the whole bloody town, I'll have individual VA's as if it's a real neighbourhood ... and ... stuff.
Anyways, he lives in Manchester, so he's obviously asleep. But I will do my best to write a wicked ass script that is full of jokes and stuff so it appeals to all. And there won't be crazy swearing or cussing or whatever.
Hope you guys participate in this in the future ... I'm gonna shoot for Front Page again ... I've done it once, and with the animations these days, it's VERY achievable.
-Hobbes
Hobbes, that sounds SO interesting! I'd love to be on board.
Hobbes: You're helping out Chrisx with your l33t scripting skillz, eh? Sweet. But I assume you're re-writing everything for Tim's World, right (Or, that's what it sounds like from your post)? Well, I just hope I don't lose my role as Maxine in Ep. 3. Anywho. Sounds awesome. I would still love to be apart of Tim's World as another character if not Maxine, though. Update us on this!

No I'm not re-writing Tim's World, it's his baby so I won't meddle with that. But I showed him my Newgrounds Survivor stuff and he wants me to write for him. So, I'm getting my friend Depp_x to help out with a plot and something that can be a series definately ... that way, he's busy, you guys are busy, and things actually come out or goodness sakes! ;)
My friend is super creative and write music like I do, and his lyrics always stump me 'cause they're so damn good and I've been playing for like 6 more years than him :( But, there's always good to come of it, since he is an endless idea machine. I can only come up with stuff that's been done before ... like, a family and a town of people (Simpsons rip-off) or the good ol' "group of friends" thing ... so he's coming over tomorrow and we'll sort everything out and pitch pitch pitch god damnit yes pitch ideas!
-Hobbes
Sorry for the double post ... just reading mine over and it probably still 'caused confusion :P
Once the Tim's World thing is done, Chris and I are making something. I want to turn it into a series as well, 'cause shorts are cool but I noticed series do very well, especially when a solid fanbase and such is built. I'll be writing, and Chris will animate, and I'll throw in a voice amongst you guys as well.
-Hobbes :)
Ah, cool! That definitely sounds interesting. Can't wait to audition for that. ^.^
Eeek. I forgot to count the pages. *Sigh* Oh, well.

i will do a lot more sciprt for my movie. and Omhadan (sorry, tired. 17hr day so far), i didn't say it was bad, but i will out-1773 joo! :P
it's not a bad script, just.... a little cliche'd for my taste.
ok guys. i'm pissed, so it may be good rant weather.
omahdon i fear that you'll fit the part of manabe a little too well -_-

Ack! I can't believe you would say such a thing, especially when there's so many voices that suck more. ;)
