At 4/8/05 10:36 PM, -Frogs- wrote: - Even though technically we are all new here (thread is very young) I feel like some of the EVEN NEWER members aren't getting the same vibe from the VAC as I am. The atmosphere of competition is getting less and less friendly and more cut-throat. Almost no one has the link to the Roster in their sig. Something I think shows the new attitude towards eachother here lately.

Well, you do drive a point there, as I've seen this thread go in many different directions since I'd been lurking aorund about page 20. For a while things were stable, with the whole policing of the club by you, Omahdon and Elliair, and Kagome watching around to keep everyone in check. Yeah, the whole vibe has gotten a bit chilly. The reason I don't have the roster linked in my profile is cause I ran out of room with the character count. So please don't go off demanding my head or anything. If its not already happened, the old active members need to form a core group here, on MSN or Aim or something. As seeing as how its for some reason become a problem to discuss club things in the thread without having someone random stumble in and complain about it. This club is one of the few on Newgrounds that actually has purpose, unlike many others. Oh lets see here, we got the hentai club:

Random1: Hey dude, you like jerking off to cartoon boobies?

Random2: Sure do d00d, w00t.

Or the Good Charlotte fan club:

Random1: Good Charlotte rox!

Random2: Yeah, sure do.

Random1: I like their songs.

Random2: Yeah, its cool that you like their songs too.

Random1: Will you have my baby?

Random2: Sorry, I don't have any ovaries dude.

Random1: That sucks.

Random2: Yeah, I know, but Good Charlotte is cool.

Random1: I love you.

Random2: I love you too.

Yeah, so lets not let this thread go to hell with bickering and backbiting. Dammit and all that! Theres roles to be had here, you just gotta find them, and lets not get all pissy about someone else getting front page. Just get out a little and it won't matter so much. Yeah, this whole thing probably don't make any sense, but whatever.

- I guess just in general this has become a less fun place to be. People are getting pissy at eachother, there is way more flaming going on. Everyone has an every (wo)man for him(her)self. The sence of community that kept me coming back is almost gone. I mean, I can voice act on my own, find ads posted in the forums. The VAC to me was always a nice "homebase" for everything VA related. Now I find myself almost uninterested in coming here to read all the unrelated back and forth.

Well, from my own point of view, there is still community left in here, its just been dispersed a little. But then I really don't take voice acting all that serious myself. I'm just doing this to be doing something, it keeps me out of trouble more or less. But I'll probably lose interest in this eventually like I lose interest in a lot of things. Still haven't seen myself in a movie yet, not a big deal, but still don't see much of a point in doing it much longer if all my stuff just vaporizes into thin air. Not saying I will be leaving anytime soon, but things could happen. Ah, but it can be fun sometimes. If I haven't jumped around enough already though, I'd like to say quite a few of the users I've meat or at least had a bit of interaction with on this thread have been fairly cool and levelheaded. Did I just say levelheaded?! Meh, I don't know where I was going with this, I think I'll stop now.

Just thoughts, no real point I guess.

Read my post i just did, I don't even know what I was talking about. But uh, lets keep this gravy train going none the less! We'lljust have to weed out the weak and worhless of the group! VAC natural selection! I give up, I never had a point to begin with, I'm just burning time, and I'm an attention whore, and you'll probably just want to ignore this post.

Damn you TV's Slayer and your double posting mayhem! When will the terror end?! And didn't you say you were gonna leave again? Well, why haven't you?!

Erm, just gave myself an excuse to quote myself, egomania at its highest possible level. I totally forgot to answer my own question. I never answered my own question I posed a week ago, but then neithier did anyone else. So I use a $35 radioshack positional mic that at the time i thought would be great to have a group of people huddle around and spew stuff at it at once. Of course it didn't work out that way, so now whenever I do lines it looks like I'm talking on a really unergonomic cell phone. Or I'm eating a taco. And yeah, thats basically my big setup. I'm still mucking with it to try and get rid of as much background noise as I can without hacking samples in Cool Edit Pro. Uh, thats all i got, now i can squander my night on funny elixirs that make me dizzy.

very interesting frogs, seems you were the first to speak what everyone else was thinking, i also noticed the same thing and also like you I haven't posted a whole lot lately due to such things, there are people on here that I get along with quite nicely and others I really think could use an attitude adjustment. as far as my mic goes... I'm using the one that came with this computer when my friend gave it to me, i bought this computer for 50 bucks and my friend even threw in like 400mb worth of ram so its actually a pretty fast computer, cool edit pro really helps with the background noises though i usually don't have much because i make sure everything is nice and quiet and i turn off all the fans in my room because they can cause a somewhat annoying noise on the mic, but audicity is very good for a free product but if you want to mix your stuff like omahdon said cool edit pro is better for that. also omahdon, i always notice you usually just do a huge megapost and not so much little posts spread out over a couple hours so are you only able to get on for a very short time in the morning or something? (im not saying anything negative at all man just wondering). I also added the ngvac roster link now because what kind of member would i be if i didn't help promote the roster! I was just being lazy before and never added it. and Frogs are you really thinking about quiting? cause i thought you were joking that one time you said it cause it was april first. anyways sorry for this huge post everyone, have fun and remember Ichigo loves all his vac friends!

Shinigami_Ichigo: Well put old sport. Well put indeed. :D

It really has changed here though, and not for the better sadly. The last 5 or 6 posts wreak of bitterness and jealousy. It's almost as if the support just kind of disappeared, and someone has to make a snide remark instead of leaving a nice post. It's unfortunate that this happened, but every thread probably comes to this sort of peak. Even the Good Charlotte ones ;) (That's 'cause they're probably all grown up now and like different music).

For the most part, I've been trying to keep myself busy and recording stuff for people. The thought of just dropping out has crossed my mind more than once ... and not because I don't like what I do, but rather wondering if there is a point when it seems alot is going to shit this past week or so.

Ah well, that's my take on it :P

-Frogs- Sweet mic, dude. After getting the computer and software I didn't have a lot left for a mic, plus I'd never owned a condensor before so it was my first foray into that realm. :D

Man, I go to sleep and I miss the 100th page? That sucks. Well, I'm just going to pretend THIS is the 100th page. *pretends* .... Nope, reality isn't morphing and shifting to my will. Rats. In any case: Happy Belated 100th page, NGVAC people! Let's party like it's the 50th! WOO! I'm always one page too late for this sort of thing.... @_@

Well, megapost now!

vel_jack: Haha, so you finally worked up the courage to post a profile after all the heartache with the recording of lines and coming to grips with recording programs and uploading and what not. Good job! Wish more new people had the same sense of patience you do. I have to agree with Bezo's sentiments though, regarding the amount of noise you have hovering in the background, and also the one noise reduced file which sounded a little metallic on the ears. Try to reduce (ha!) the amount of noise reduction you use by a WEE bit and I think it should be just fine. It'll eliminate most of the noise while keeping your voice free of robot flavour. In any case, welcome to the club! Your roster will be added to the soon, profile. I mean, your profile will be added to the roster soon. I tire of saying that.

Bezo: Thanks once again for the backup reviews! And for someone who doesn't like net-drama, you seem to enjoy dabbling your fingers in it once in a while. :-P But hey, who am I to talk? I likes me an occasional fight, yarr! And we all go a little crazy sometimes. That's what mother tells me. And mother is always right. @_@ Oh, great work on that little MK flash, too! We'd done seen it before when you posted it on this thread but great job for getting it out on the portal to an equally great score. Booyah! And implied horrific violence = great, still.

Renewman: Sorry man, I thought it was better to be completely honest and give a little praise with lots of pointers than paying needless compliments that wouldn't have helped you very much. Don't worry man, you're a heck of a lot better than I was when I first started way back upwards to 5 years ago! It's just that the learning curve for this club is a lot steeper and a lot less gentle than what I went through. I mean, when I first started, I had a crappy mic that came bundled with my Sound Blaster 16 and used the (rather lame) recording software that came with it. And that was completely acceptable. Now.... I still have a rather crappy mic (a stand computer mic.... Labtec, as well so don't diss their products! They make good, cheap stuff) admittedly with an Audigy soundcard and CEP. With your current setup, you should be able to do just fine. Just experiment with the clean-up options in Audacity, I hear they're actually quite powerful, you just need to be able to handle them in the same way a man handles a woman: with tender loving care. And while I can't help with the "I think I suck part" but keep this in mind.... Almost everybody here who's seen a flash with their voice in it can name at least ONE (if not a whole bunch) of productions where they thought the same thing. It's just something that sometimes not even the most practised and experienced of people can avoid because it just goes COMPLETELY WRONG. Just food for thought there.

Man, has anyone noticed how nice I've become lately? Must be the college thing interefering with my anger-sense. Anyways, onwards.

Shalamaseskia: Nice work on that! Your quality kinda goes all over the place (lots of BG noise for some lines.... Not that much for others) but this definitely looks like a series that'll be fun to be in for the long haul. I look forward to future episodes. And you puffed WAY too much for that one scene (you know what I'm talking about). :-P

t0ast: I wish *I* had a cookie. Lousy Vel_jack getting 100th page post *grumbles grumbles* why I oughta....!

Elliair: Yay, you're back! And yes, you can be a female Simon Cowell. Only more sexy and more female. And less Simon Cowell. So in otherwords, you can't be SImon Cowell, so just be you when reviewing the clips. O.o And you know you want to megapost. G'wan. Do it. Do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do isca do it do it do it....

TVs_Slayer: Sorry man, I'll try and get you those lines for the NGVAC advertisement ASAP. That's two acronyms in a single setnce. Could it be that I'm slowly turning into a corporate schill??? *gasps!* And hey, I think we're all in this club for the fun of it, it's just that after a while the club might become more like work than it is fun.... Well, I guess I see your point, anyway.

Gamedisk: Just click on "contact author" in this post. It's right there. I look forward to the script, Hamlet or no. Just be prepared for me to rewrite everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. In fact, send the script to me first to edit, and then you can pass it round to everybody else if you're happy with the edits. Trust me, I like to say good lines, so if I do any kind of editing it is to make lines -> great.

Shinigami_Ichigo: Yeah, megasposts are basically my convenient way of keeping track of everything going on when I should be working on stuff for college. I just do these huge posts so I can get everything said in one go. I'm lazy that way. O.o

BlazeDragon132: If you want to join the club, check out the How to Join? section of the Newgrounds' Voice Acting Club Roster. It'll provide the details for how to join, as well as help on how to fill the requirements. PLEASE DO NOT POST A PROFILE WITHOUT A SAMPLER UPLOADED SOMEWHERE FOR DOWNLOAD. DO NOT SAY "I'LL MAKE ONE LATER" OR "I'll GET A MICROPHONE IN THREE MONTHS" OR "EMAIL ME FOR SAMPLES PLZ, K?". GET A SAMPLER, HAVE IT UPLOADED AND LINK IT BEFORE POSTING YOUR PROFILE. THIS IS NOT A NEGOTIABLE POINT. THIS MESSAGE IS IN ALL-CAPS AND BOLDED FOR A REASON. SORRY IF IT SEEMS REPETITIVE, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THIS POINT WAS CONVEYED PROPERLY. Finally, this is a VOICE ACTING club. It is not a I CAN DO ALL THESE VOICES THAT I DON'T HAVE TO PROVE I CAN DO BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A MIC club. Don't try and join if you don't have a working microphone. That's just plain stupid.

There's something incredibly ironic about BlazeDragon132 being the last post I megapost reply to. Incredibly ironic, indeed.

[This is not a double-post. The Government is lying to you. You have been lied to by the Government into thinking this is a double-post. DAMN THE MAN!]

Okay.... It's been a long time coming but here it is!

THE NEWGROUNDS VOICE ACTING CLUB ROSTER!!11!!!1!!1 All updated now and nicely culled of members who don't have samples. Booya! Check out if your profile is there, I may have deleted it or forgotten to add it by mistake. I hope I haven't but I might have. Just saying. A guy can go cross-eyed staring at HTML too long.

Anyway, here are some of my thoughts on some of the morbid and less-than-happy topics that have been circulating here now. Geez, people are on a downer on the 101st page.... It's like.... The "page after" or something and everybody's having hangovers and complaining. O.o Seriously though, I think this is just a little rough patch the club is going through because not a lot is really happening, so we're turning on one another for something to do. It's the "cabin fever" syndrome. Admittedly however, there's also the added pressure of competition from the large number of members in this club. I mean, there's 8 female members and 51 male members in the roster, and those are the ones WITH samplers. That's a whole lotta competition, and that's not not even including the various "casual" VAs on NG.

Getting roles is going to get more cutthroat as the members list grows, there's no denying it; to the point where if you discover a casting call for VA people in some obscure part of the NG BBS (or off it, even. Plenty of roles out on the interweb if ya looks), you have to ask yourself.... "Do I really want to tell this guy about the NGVAC and decrease my chances of getting in, or do I keep quiet and increase it, instead?". Don't tell me you haven't thought of that question yourself, because I know *I* have. O.o It's especially hard for the really new people with no resume and no reputation that they can rely on to provide work through scouting producers. They're definitely going to be hard-up for work, and it doesn't help that the "more experienced" people are batting them off like flies. Yeah. O.o

So in conclusion, this situation sucks, and I don't see how it's going to get any better unless more flash producers have open auditions for stuff. The End. For Now. Now let's move on! *moves on*

Oh, and the equipment I use to record my lines = Labtec stand mic + Soundblaster Audigy soundcard + Cool Edit Pro. It's a nice little setup. Nothing that'll take on a closed recording booth with professional sound boards and engineers, but it works. The thing which makes my sampleage sound so good is my Audigy card. That thing is a nice piece of work, dat she is. I likes her. And I think it's going cheap now, unless Soundblaster has liquidated all their Audigy stock in favour of Audigy 2.0.

I technically made front page with my Flash film...as a popular artist. ;)

Omahdon: You certainly put things in perspective. It's better to be positive about this club, even if we're having bad days. People who want to join this club probably don't want to hear how things have kinda changed to some members.

BTW, do you have any flashes coming out soon? I watched Xin, and of course Adam Android :D It's fun listening to your stuff, even my friend is impressed and thinks you're some guy from Cowboy Bebop, but I told him you're not ... 'cause you probably wouldn't visit that often when you get the sweet cashola from being a pro VA. ;)

I think I have the answer to the dilemma of telling people about the VAC. Take the job first, and tell them after the projects been done. Or maybe when they've already picked you for their first five flashes.

On a completely unrelated note, I think I'll look through the BBS.

now i am not a voice actor myself i am a animator so heres what i need:

(off my other topic):
ok im planning to start a series called When Will I Use This (or W.W.I.U.T) It is a comedy on how people say theyll never use a certain school subject but in the flash it later bites them in the ass.

I'm making the first episode which is on math. I need a voice actor for a teacher and one for the bosses who will keep saying YOU'RE FIRED. (itll be a montage of different workplaces like Mickey D's and a hotel etc. and in the backgrond it will show him repeatedly getting fired.

I think its a good idea and if you can help me with ideas or be a voice actor You will be mentioned in the flash. (if you do enough voice acting/helping I may give you co-author credit)

Reply here or talk to me under ACJRAGE for AIM. I won't be on till 2:00 though cuz i have guitar lessons but at 2 i will be back.

Thanks in advance

The teacher will need a deeper more professional voice (very serious but monotone)

the boss will also need to be like the teacher but i will need 5-6 different bosses saying YOU'RE FIRED so i need someone who can change their voice.

Oh and one more i need a guy with a higher voice to go "When will I ever use this?"

Sound of line: Make fun-ish / sing songy
Line: "What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?"
Prefered sound format: None

Thank you in advance, please contact me at MyAuraOfRunes through AIM if you are willing to do this clip, or simply post here, but it whould be much more convient if I could talk to you over AIM.

If you could get me the clip pretty soon that whould be nice, preferable the 14th or earlier. As early as possible PLEASE!

Again, thank you.

And as he lay dying he whispered,

KagomeHigurashi wishlist had Tae from yu-gi-oh on it as I was looking at this it hit me...tons of I think funny jokes
so I casted her as that part...now if anyone has someone who is famous that they want to do and I can think of a good joke about them (that fits) then it will go in

like yugi... jokes about how much he grows when dules

so is there anyone that you want to play?

Wanted: Female voice actor...

You guys picked a bad week. All 3 of our lovely usual female voice actresses (Kagome, Elliair, Isca) are all away right now. Your best option is to try and contact some other actresses directly in email. Find a whole long list of 'em in the VAC Roster page (link in my sig).
