For those of you who haven't checked out the Newgrounds Audio Portal here's a funny, catchy, little song that was used in a Piconjo entry that we currently have featured on the front page.

The goal is to have more Flash artists take advantage of all the great audio in the Audio Portal and put it in their Flash entries. This way they won't run the risk of their Flash being removed due to a record label coming after them and us for using their song without permission and they promote talented artists who don't have many other ways of getting exposure for their work.

it's to bad u can't make it so that u can play a song without downloading and then change websites and still listen to the music. thats the onl reason why i don't go to often to audio...

I think it was the Fruit Loops.

My theory is that the only way to make a successful audio portal is that you guys MUST make it better, as much effort into is as the flahs portal. More categories, more awards, something to encourage exposure... the audio portal is so under-appreciated and underprivilaged from most other things here at NG that it atttracts little attention or hope/promise of people using it.

plus finding stuff is hard as hell that's good because like most of NG, it's a mod rule, and many use the low-scope of the AP to boost their own stuff and down the others...

it's too bad... lots of talent... not enough t promote those artists... not even exp for voting... it attracts little attention at all...

Yeah, we know, but we can't just click our heels and make it happen. It will take time to set all that up and it is on our to do list, with about a million other things.

I only checked out a few of the thigns on the audio portal. I do agree a lot of the NG users overlook it.

The song was created by Hexar (a member of NG)
and a buddy of his.

Hexar hasn't loaded it up to Ng, but when he does, I will link it to the flash.

I find it odd that a Piconjo flash made it to the front page, let alone one that uses Wade's image in an extremely negative manner.

I have been pushing the Audio Portal myself for quite some time. There should be a rule put in place about using copyrighted music. I grow tired of seeing these entries using ripped off music receive great acclaim, and often front page honors.

And the Audio Portal is a great tool that is overlooked by all of the fourteen year old children that populate Newgrounds with their pirated copies of Flash. Though I do fear that some of the audio entries are covers/remixes of protected music, so I tread with caution.

I remember that not-so-long ago Wade was about to delete Piconjo's account. Why didn't that happen?

I would if I could, but every audio I've downloaded from the portal has not been compatable with flash. Symphony of the Frogs is an awesome song and would rule as a video.

The problem with the audio portal for me is that it's too troublesome to listen to the music. I have to download the zip file then unzip it, which is kinda a hassle.

There is a play button that allows you to sample the song before downloading it.

Yeah, the Audio Portal is overlooked, and yes, it would take lots of work and time 2 make it equal 2 the flash portal, or atleast make it better... But... Alot of people will come 2 Newgrounds, because it has free music. It will be like this:

Me: "Ey dude, have you heard that new catchy tune from (randomnamehere)?"

Friend: "Not yet..."

Me: "Well, its here: (url 2 audio portal song here)"

Friend: "Newgrounds? I thought that was only for flash movies!?"

Me: "Nah, lotsa hard-working artists, including Dj's and other musicians, upload their stuff there :)"

Friend: "Oh, ok, lemme c..."

*checks newgrounds' audio portal*

Friend: "Oh yeah, now I see! Cool! This song rocks!"

Me: "Jup :) It does"

I think it seriously would attract more visitors. More visitors = more clicks on adds. More clicks on adds = more money. More money = more things 2 boost the site. More things 2 boost the site = more visitors. :)
