Oh yea, if it's ok on the technical part then I go for plot and entertainment value.I don't have a real system worked out for this part so I just go with what I feel is appropriate.

I do however watch the whole thing bad or not.At 56k you'd pretty much have to.The only one I couldn't for the life of me sit through was "Dickleodeon"(anyone remember that?).

I think however I must be missing a few things.
1 Do I have to watch the same submission each time I want to vote on it?
2 If a subission doesn't run at all should I just close out and blam it(With a review explaining the problem of course)? The author can always fix it and resubmit it, right?

I probably appear as one of these offenders, but I'm not. I either vote 0 or 5. I've never voted 1 2 3 or 4. I either like it AND want the protection point, or don't like it AND want the blam point. Technically im not breaking the rules, I'm just bending them a little :)

I can't get in trouble for that can I?

I wonder though... Like sometimes I will only watch 1 or 2 seconds at most of a movie, because after seeing just the first frames of animation, I can tell if any effort has been put into it. Sometimes even just by looking at the preloader (which, is a bad idea since some good movies have bad preloaders, and vice versa). Does the tracking system track my vote as innappropriate because I only view such a small portion of the movie?

Your solution would not be feasible. It would mean counting on everyone to put code into their Flash entry, and while I'm not sure if that is possible with our current security settings, there would be many people who wouldn't comply.

So, we don't have to view it if we can feasibly see that it's going to be good/bad?

Or like...voting on an entry more than once, to support it or something. (over a period of days)

I'm still confused.

Re Wade and Portal crew

I dont know if i fall into this catagory but what i do know is this

If i log on click watch video and it starts off with a stickman doing a normal stickman routine on a scatebord then bunch of crap comes up followed by shit like OMG VOTE 5

i'm gona blam it without watchign the rest of the movie i have a very anal sence i guess you coudl call it because i relly dont take shit from people submitting crap .. especialy people that decide to be cool or will run horible Strobing effects or LOUDER then normal sound to destroy my eyesite and or hearing .

if anything you need to look into the people that are "going with the flow to get free protect points on things liek daily flash portal enterys that are not even remotly funny and are maybe a total of 1 horus flash work . I run a entire website on flash i know the hardwork it takes to make one .. i kow that people that do a 700 fbf took time and effort to make there fbf movie ... i do however not respect people that decide to make a submission
* points fingers alstar is gay bla bla bla in fact i'm sure that somewhere ther is a law on this and that pubilcy ridiculing somone is and or a criminal offence hell those hollywood people have to pay millions in settlements when they do ..

anyways i only normlay give out 0,1,2,3 unless the video is soo shocking and origional and artist put out an emense amount of work i may give it a 4 .. i have to this date given out 9 or 10 fives to authors who truly deserved it for there hard work .. but people who submit stolen flashes submit the same flash every 3 hours i will blam if i get / lose my acount for this so be it i',m doing ng a favor by filtering out the crap ... as it is i only care about my 10 points per day so i can get close to seing my next secret ..

I know there are alot that are abusing this via ohh clock blam ohh this 5 and some crap makes it onto the portal

point is i hope this system works out for the beter ... i have your email so if i seam to find a problem i'll be mailing you and i'll include the flash entries / listings so that you may check them out

I'm sure there are alot of ng viewers like myself that work hard to keep ng free

If i have one message to say to everyone it would be this

THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE .. DAILY FLASH SUBMISSIONS SUCK NO EFFORT IS PUT INTO THEM STOP GOING WITH THE FLOW TO GET FREE PROTECT POINTS THESE SUBMISSIONS DO NOT BELONG ON THE PORTAL

This post applies to me almost exactly. I know that I use the extreme votes (0, 5) too often, but I do watch the majority of the movie, or at least enough to (in my opinion) get the overall feeling from the movie. Also, one thing that I won't do is vote high for popular flashes purely on the fact that they are popular. For example, the "Cat Stapler" movies from earlier in the year. I voted low on all of those, I think. I could have had about 30 free protection votes since people seemed to love those for some reason. OK, enough of that. Honestly, I will just shut off the movie when I see crap, literally or figurally, and it seems like that's all there is on the portal sometimes. Overall, though, I feel that this is a fine idea, and I hope that it works to help clean up the portal a little. However, I hope that we don't start to have people start to submit 10 minute long crude stick flashes to try to annoy the users.

What if the first impression of the movie sucks? Say it has no preloader and once it starts it's just a stick doing backflips? I have to sit through that? Yes, im an asshole and time is of the essence.

this is reply to starsyndocate post only within thread.

no ofence man but normlay you have crap that is acusing alistar * whoerver the fuck he is i dont relly care* of being gay

then you have another that is liek a fish floating across a screan

there will be a thrid one thats totaly 100% outa sync with flashy screan (strobing) with some bad mysid playign maybe head in middle with mouth moving up and down or spining

this isnt flash its 1 hour of crap all you need to do is lable it dailyflash crap put a preloader in it put 4 names on the main page and just make a link to each of the pages / other flashes in your daily flash as if they were normal buttons ... its not hard work and it dosnt deserve to be on the portal

when you start spending a week or a month and actulay improve the stuff that gets submitted sure i'll be more then happy to support you ...

i think the only decent flash ive seen out of the syndocate was from 7 star and she marked it as delete the entery and it was the stupid dance.

-Schlaghund

create flash i will vote it
create crap i will blam it
spend quality time and put effort into your flashes and i will give you a honest and fair review as well as a decent score i start off on a very positive scale

submitting flash = auto 5
-1 if its a stickman
-1 no pre loader
-1 if your using a clock crew voice / microsoft same this dosnt mean i hate all clock crew recent ly i watched some flash by "crow clock" and he put alot of effort into his and i voted 4 on his submission as he took the time and effort to make his flash worthy of being on the portal
-2 if your gona submit anythign with flailing dicks or mocking somone
-whistle if you submitted it earler that day
-whistle if its 0.1 seconds long
-blam +whistle if you say in your provile that its shit and just blam it. ie free blam point

oh and the worst is strobbing / epeleplsy witout any type of forwarning -10 autoblam

I really don't like the idea how someone can check what we vote on. Votes are supposed to be anonymous, with the system only knowing if we voted or not.

But then again, Tom is in charge here, so he gets to do whatever he wants with this site.

what its trying to do / make use of is the fact that if somethign gets submitted for us to watch up to the real point when we know if its good or not good and then rate the degree of positive or negativity not

log on ... click watchmovie in the 0.1 seconds that popup window comes up you have on your under screen the 0/1 of the 0-5 scale click 0 press alt-f4 close the curent flash loading and do the next 4 enterys the same then submit your points for the day and log off. which i belive is the problem here

not the users that are ... log on

watch movie .. stickman loader ( grr stickman well i'll see if its ok the odd stickman is
after 4-5 seconds of watchign it you know if its crap

pseronaly i dont like stick or claymation but there is relly good ones that deserver to make it and i vote fairly on them or above fairly becasue sticks are generly frowned upon

I am not accusing anyone, but it seems unlikly that they, or anyone else can sit through over 100 movies a day and accurate rate the movie to their liking or disliking. Seems unprobable.

heh, i've gone through 200+ one day, that was before this though, and your right, i only watched maybe half the movies that day, but HEY, waiting for loading and watching a bit, takes a lot less time then i always complained to myself that itdid *hits head* silly me ^.^

I, for one, am slightly ashamed, becuase I know I have "watched" a few movies in the past and not accuratly studied them to see what vote they should get. I won't do it anymore, but with movies that have a Uber crappy start screen, no loading bar, and a bunch of crappy random flashing graphics in the first few seconds, I don't bother to watch the rest. Seems it would be unfair if I or anyone was penialized becuase of that, but it won't continue to much anymore, unless I am sure.

Heh, many of us should be ashamed, even i'd LOVE IT if Ya_Ya was found to be one of the offenders, now that would be a weight off EVERYONE'S shoulder heh (everyoen without 8375488903457 more points that is ):< )

It's you guys are cracking down though, when I submit something to the portal eventually, I want my votes counted fairly. And that's it.

Heh, and you wish for no bias either, well hey its your funeral <3, just kidding hope its a good flash ;) ... whenever it may be ^.^

Don't underestimate the top50, many of them do watch most of the movies. I wouldn't be surprised if dogma and gfox were and still are watching all the flashes. Toocool watches the good movies, give them a good rating and then he skips the crappy flashes without voting them :O

It's possible to watch 200 submissions in one day and then vote the submissions. Although, you would need to close the window before the end, have no life or simply open 2-3 windows at the same time. heh, there is usually 150 submissions to watch in one day, not 200 :)

I admit that I skipped a few in the past. Since I read Wade's thread, I try to avoid that and right now it has been a sucess :)

im sory to reply you this kind of message but i need somebody to help to answer my problem about programing.
in this problem . 1. An election for mayor involves three (3) candidates and ten (10) barangays. Ask from the user the number of votes for each of the candidate. the total number of people who voted ineach of the barangay. the average number of vote for each of the candidate and the percentage achieve by each candidate then determine the winner and the barangay wiht the most number of voters.
a.) Use an array for each of the set of necessary data.
b.) Use a function for every calculation and another function to determine who won.
c.) do not use a global variables.

pls i need help for this......

Sure someone could blam/protect that much, it just means these people have nearly no life at all.

Ok the last submission had the call number 206594 which means in total there has been 206594 at least attempted submissions to NG not saying there is 206594 submissions on NG but there cirtainly was 206594 potential points for a single person allowing they started at the start.

These guys who have 50,000+ blam protection points would not have to have been blamming/protecting constantly for 4 - 5 years or so but cirtainly they would have had to spend about a quater of the day (possibly on and off) voting. Which is realistic but sad. I.E:

ramagi has
51,262 out of 206,594 potential points meaning he has obtained
24.8% of the potential points of ALL the movies on NG

However I would have guessed that they would have got into a very bad habbit of clicking, opening, voting and repeating. I would say with that much routine one would not watch EVERY single submission. It simply would take too long between submissions being submitted and therefore points would have been missed out on.

I don't think its really important to get to this level AT ALL! I mean so what your on a top 50 list whop-dee-fucking-doo! You also waste an incredible amout of time too!

Did you know that fixit got over 1000 b/p pts in a week... 4 times. That's simply insane. That means it had 4000 blams/protects in one month.. that's not human.

Ya_Ya has approximately an average of 85 blams/protects per day since he created his account... that's also huge and not even close from what fixit did.

Ramagi was far from being that bad. She has been here for a much longer period.

1)You don't count the flagged submissions. We don't get pts from those.
2)The current underjudgement voting system didn't exist in the past.
3)I'm talking about some averages during a certain period of time. fixit didn't get a single b/p pts since what? april? may 2004? He totally stopped to come to this site. I have no idea why he suddendly stopped his insane run.

However I would have guessed that they would have got into a very bad habbit of clicking, opening, voting and repeating. yeah, but now people take more time to vote since Wade made that warning so it's possible to get most of the submissions while watching them. They are also a few tricks like watching 2-3-4 at the same time :P and then you can judge them all because you viewed them all.

I don't think its really important to get to this level AT ALL! I mean so what your on a top 50 list whop-dee-fucking-doo! You also waste an incredible amout of time too!

People care about the voting power and they are statswhore. There is no pt to continue when... you get the last rank but some people still continue. We need some people to blam/protect, right?

Let me start off by saying. THANK YOU!

I remember when i started out, My first movie ( of halfway decent quality ) was blammed on the spot, I had to resubmit at night time so the nice europeans ( i love you all) would watch and realize that i was still learning, and i was that bad. As a result i kept getting better and better, and well by my sixth flash i had already gotten on the front page. It is bad for new guys self esteem for thier movies to be blammed especially if its a quality entry... Wade thanks for doing this, we may see a lot more quality flash on newgrounds by you guys doing this.

Bleh.

I missed out on about 10 Blam-point opportunities today trying to protect some decent movies.

People seriously need to stop giving automatic 0's to people who are submitting flash for the first time. Some movies are quite good.

Didn't you notice that the blammed flashes have higher scores than usual? People are starting to view the flashes.

I missed a few blam pts too because I protected these movies :( I also gained some protect pts that I thought I wouldn't gain :O.

I do see your point, its seems very impossibly but a self obsessed person would make it possible.
However with the chance that he did make a bot lets just suppose. How would this bot be so accuarate? Would it be able to detect varible like "sticks", "omg vote 5", the difference between regular submitters and first time submitters? The program would be insane to put together! Wouldn't he want to put his genius to something more worthwhile instead of a blam/protection bot like the cure for cancer or advacing quantum theory?

Ya_Ya has approximately an average of 85 blams/protects per day since he created his account... that's also huge and not even close from what fixit did.

Ramagi was far from being that bad. She has been here for a much longer period.

It mathmatically still would have taken a shitload of time even stretched over an extended period. Taking into account of course flagged movies and up until the new voting system.

People care about the voting power and they are statswhore. There is no pt to continue when... you get the last rank but some people still continue. We need some people to blam/protect, right?

Yep we sure do, I'm agreeing with you that movies need to be voted on. I just hope that the new system will make voting a bit more fair for new submitters mainly who have their stuff.

I couldn't see why they couldnt set up a system where you HAVE to download at least 100 -200 kbs for the voting bar to appear so you have to opputunity to see what quality the movie is. You wouldn't have to download a whole 5mb file to find out if its crap but by the same token for a movie like "99kbs" (that is quality for the small size that it is) you HAVE to download the whole thing before you can even vote.

Remember the marks A+, B+, F+ that were on underjudgement submissions in the portal. They were removed and fixit disappeared approximately at the same time. He program could have been based on that or on the filesize, batting average of the author or it might look if the author has submissions. I really don't know how he could implement a voting program but I guess it's possible. fixit might remain a mystery forever :o It could be a real person.

She had a shitload of pts before the new system, she also has an average over 60 since the creation of the new system... that's not that high. She stopped for a while at a certain period when she was over 30000 b/p pts. fixit was still here during that period.

It stinks but that's how it works :( We must at least view a part of the flash to be sure. Don't even bother when it doesn't load, blam it and warn the author.

I actually started going after blams/saves more because I was fed up with lower level users (for example a level 14 or 15) having a higher voting power than me because they had 20,000+ blams. I've spent a lot of time gaining my 10 exp per day to get to lvl 19, and its frustrating when lower level punks are surpassing me.

I'm just curious on how much information you have about the history of NG. Is there some website your getting it from or you just have a good memory?

Didn't she have 1337 points for a long time? I remember then after the new system started, a lot of the people who had achieved that level of blams (which back in the day was comparable to the 50,000 mark now) were complaining because it screwed up their record.

ah you are not the only user that did that :P. BTW, I passed in the b/p ranking like a rocket but I will never catch you for the vp :(.

The information that I gave to you is not exact, I must check my old discussions to give you an exact answert. Anyway, I mostly get it from older regulars, old topics and searching in ng.

The b/p list made by dogma is where I got most of the information about fixit and ramagi's numbers, paces, etc.

Check the whereis/howto forum sometimes. It has a huge amount of information about stats.
