We will be talking about the NBA= Your favorite teams, players ( new or old ), also some college teams but nothing lower than that please.
We could hold some random contests or some fun games, we could but for right now it's all about starting the crew and making better and better.
Rules
1.) Must have some knowlege about basketball.
2.) Must state your favorite NBA team.
3.) No spamming of any kind please.
4.) More rules shall be made in the future.
ill join i like kobe and my favorite team is the lakers.
I shall join, because basketball is a great sport, along with hockey, basketball, and football (American). My favorite team is the Utah Jazz. They've gotten off to a pretty good start this year. The additions of Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur really solidified their front court this year, joining Andrei Kirilenko.
I'm Pistons all the way. But my favorite player is now of today but of before and not of the pistons. Doctor Jay a.k.a. Julious Erving.
I prefere all the old players becasue they were so much fun to watch.
i want to join please?
favorite teams are the mavericks and grizzlies
favorite players dirk nowitzski and jason williams
Hello all again it's Joe here and I want to bring this up again, does anyone else want to join the crew? Since there already is a Football crew it just seemed right that There should be a Basketball crew also. ( just in the states though ) So if anyone wants to join please do.

I am canadian and i am willing to admit, i hate all canadian basketbal lteams i nthe NBA. And I exspecially hate Vince Carter of the Toronto Raptors.
Utah's slowly starting to fade a little bit. It doesn't help any that Andrei Kirilenko will be out for a month.
Well .... my favorite team is.... uhhhh..... The Lakers *awaits comments like "lakers suck*
Anyways fuck all them bandwagon fans that make people not wanna root for their team.... I'm kinda glad that Shaq is gone... why you ask, now the Lakers can only hope for like the 8th spot in the playoffs.... so pretty much they suck now, yeah so now all them pussy bandwagon fans that disgrace real fans will now go cheer for another team while real fans like me stick with their pathetic team... I mean I've been alive to see them win their share of Championships, so I'm happy... and I know they won't be winning one any time soon but it's all good....
Anyways I think it'll be funny as hell if The Lakers don't make the playoffs but Kobe ends up winning the scoring title....
Go Kobe
I forgot I made this and bringing it back to all those who want to join *again*. Anyways I love basketball and I think that it should turned into at least a respectable Newgrounds crew.
Anyways My favorite team is of course the Detroit Pistons. Some of my favorite players of all time are Isaih Thomas, Jason Kidd, Spud Webb, Julious Erving A.K.A. Dr. J, Micheal Jordan, Larry Bird, and also Magic Johnson.

wooo hooo , we won
Now I realize that this is the only major sport of the four that hasn't gotten any attention on Newgrounds, but I feel that we could get the crew back up and running again with a new season that's been going on as of now.
Personally, I'm a little disappointed in the play of the Utah Jazz. Sure, they've had to cope with the injuries to Kirilenko early on, and they've still hadn't gotten a game out of Carlos Boozer yet, but I feel as if they could be better than third in their division right now.
One giant bright spot has been the play of Mehmet Okur. He's been a force to contend with on the court. He's been a big man that can get you the points and rebounds down low, and at the same time step outside and hit the three. He's a big reason why the Jazz aren't last in their division right now.

I looked at this thread and it was pretty much dead and I didnt bother, but if we can get people to start joining and posting I will be a regular here. My Mavericks are doing alright. Dirk is putting up some good number. My other favorite lpayer Jason Williams (Heat) has been putting up more points and less assists than he use to. Its a good transition but he needs to be dishing it out more.
The Lakers were going great, and seemed to find their groove until the Houston game. Where, they let TMac have a game winning layup. They did have that one game with Kobe having 62 but since then they've lost close ones and just can't seem to finish games. Phil has really turned this team around though.
I also heard rumors that Artest and Rose might be coming to L.A. with them on the team the Lakers are legit contenders.

Artest AND Jalen Rose? Man, that'd be a good move for the Lakers. When you have the offensive skills of Kobe, and the defensive skills of Artest, you can't help but think the Lakers could pull it off then. The way the West has been, I wouldn't doubt that the Lakers could do it.
I only wish it were more than just a rumor. Last year it was rumored (by Fox) that Boozer was coming down here. Now, Artest and Rose for Devan George and somebody else, its been on the radio shows but not much more. I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Bosh came in with a deal with the Raptors.

That'd be a big mistake on Toronto's part. Their season has been a shitfest enough already, and with trading away Bosh, it'd only rain more shit on the franchise, and hard.
That is why Toronto's been struggling the past few seasons: Bad front office decisions.

All a team needs is a good front office, look at Jerry West and Memphis, look at Jerry West and the Lakers, look at I'm running out of examples but the point is a team can have a good player or two but it needs a good front office. Look at Kuptcheck and the crappy job he did with Shaq, look at on the other end Pat Riley and the good job getting Shaq. Its all about how teams evaluate talent and how good your gm is. You could site all the bad teams in sports to the front office, in Detroit, Marriuchi shouldn't have gone but the GM should have (I forgot his name), until Dunleavey made Sterling poney up some cash they were bad, teams are too quick to blame the coach.

All the examples you've provided are exactly the evidence as to why a team needs a good front office. That goes for any of the four major sports. In order to have the talent, the general manager must pull some strings to get that talent. With Jerry West, i don't think you can find a better general manager in the league.
Bryant suspended 2 games for elbowing Miller
I understand that he was upset at the foul on him but c'mon Kobe, that was a cheap shot and you know it. That ended up being the difference in the game as they lost by one point. Maybe the Lakers will win 2 games now. But the interesting thing is, Kobe will lose $144,971.59 for every game he sits out without pay. DAMN thats a lot of money for one game of basketball.

No kidding, but he got what he deserved. It was obvious that his retaliation was planned, there's no doubt whatsoever to those who viewed it. I'm sure Kobe's going to regret that later on this season, especially if they end up losing the two games he doesn't end up playing in and they miss the playoffs by a game.

I think the game the team as a whole will regret is that Houstson game, where Tmac scored a game-winning layup. If the Lakers do lose these two games its for Kobe's benefit regardless of whether they make the playoffs or not. It seems like without Kobe the Lakers are worst than the Hawks, but with him, they're fighting for the 8th seed.
The Lakers almost won, but as usual they couldn't close out 7 of their last 9 or something like that, they've lost by less than six points. At least they'll have another shot at the Jazz in a rare back-to-back matchup.

Good deal. I'm hoping Utah can take this one, as well. They're not looking too bad in their division now, since it's slowly becoming the Atlantic division of the Western Conference. If Utah can string together some wins here, they just might be in contention for a playoff spot after all.
Wow, I just noticed something. I know that you brought me up to the fact that the Lakers and the Jazz were in a home-and-home series, seventy-one. I forgot factoring in that Kobe Bryant was on a two-game suspension. That means Utah's going to be the only team to face them while Bryant's on that suspension.
What timing that is. If they win tonight, they'll be only half a game back of Minnesota for the lead in their division. They might be tied, depending the outcome of the next Minnesota game.

Key word if, I don't think Phil would let them lose back to back games to the same team, he's too good of a playoff coach to do so.
I did hear an interesting fact, when Lamar Odom shoots the ball 15+ times the Lakers are 0-9 (or 0-6).

Well then, the Lakers better not depend too much on him tonight, eh? ;P
Anyways, it's going to be quite the task for them trying to beat Utah. Of course, we know the factor that Kobe's not going to be playing in the game. Secondly, it's at Utah. It's going to be hard for the Lakers to pull off the road victory after losing to the Jazz at home.
I'm going to have to go with Utah on this game. I just wish I knew if it was on television anywhere tonight so I can watch it.
