Continuing his proud tradition of bad moves, the owner of the Washington Wizards, Abe Pollin, has reportedly given the OK to Wizards management to offer Gilbert Arenas a six-year, $125 million contract. This comes in the wake of the Wizards' re-signing of Antawn Jamison for four years and $50 million.

In other news, the Blazers have signed star Spanish guard Rudy Fernandez to an undisclosed contract. Fernandez has played the past seven seasons for DKV Joventut Badalona of the Spanish ACB League. Last season he averaged 21.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.2 steals for the team, which won both the ULEB Cup and the Copa del Rey. The 6-foot-6 guard also plays for the Spanish national team.

PG Jose Calderon has reportedly re-signed with the Raptors. "Early this morning, through my agents, I reached a preliminary agreement with the Toronto Raptors," Calderon said in a message posted on his Web site. Calderon declined to give details of the contract, but sources have said that the Raptors have also struck verbal agreements to sign Croatian guard Roko Ukic, whom they drafted in 2005, and former New Jersey Nets draftee Hassan Adams along with Calderon.

Lastly, Elton Brand, Corey Maggette, and Baron Davis all opted out of their contracts to test the free agent waters.

By hold do you mean salary cap-wise? Or in terms of roster space?

Who else thinks B-Diddy is going to go to Hollywood? Magette will probably be donning a new jersey by next season. Brand will be re-signed, that should be a perrogative for the Clips.

Well, I heard on rumors talking about it but there is no confirmation about it, so, let's just wait and see what happens.

Its good news for me! Now, we just have to hope Brand doesn't take that tempting huge ass contract from Golden State. This can be his first time having a superstar calibur player next to him, especially one that can compliment him.

Chris Paul is going to sign a four year contract with the Hornets. Glad they are keeping him. : ( 17

Well, it is a bad news for me either because Baron is the leader of his former team and the Warriors team is known for their quickness and their high-octane offense that made them a better team, and that's why they upset some great teams on their path.

Chris Duhon agreed to a two-year deal at the midlevel exception with the Knicks. This means that the Knicks now have Chris Duhon, Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, Mardy Collins, Wilson Chandler, Jared Jeffries, and Quentin Richardson as guys who can play the 1 or the 2.

I would imagine that the depth chart will look something like this:

PG - Chris Duhon - Stephon Marbury - Nate Robinson
SG - Jamal Crawford - Nate Robinson - Mardy Collins
SF - Danilo Gallinari - Quentin Richardson - Renaldo Balkman - Jared Jeffries - Wilson Chandler
PF - Zach Randolph - David Lee - Malik Rose - Jared Jeffries - Wilson Chandler
C - Eddy Curry - Zach Randolph - Jerome James

According to that article, Elton Brand has agreed (verbally, anyways) to sign with Philly. The deal is believed to be for 5 years and around 80 million.

If that's the case... LOL, CLIPPERS!

Not SO terrible for the Clippers, as they still have Al Thornton, who was providing double-doubles galore in the absence of Brand. Dunno that he's a true PF though.

Magic are gonna sign SG Mickael Pietrus to a multi-year deal on Wednesday, book it.

More of a SF. And he needs to stop chucking so much if he wants to improve.

Good defender, decent shooter (at best). Though it makes me wonder why they drafted Courtney Lee. I guess JJ Redick and James Augustine need some company on the bench.

More news!

Lakers' forward Ronny Turiaf has agreed to a four-year, $17 million offer from the Warriors, according to The Press-Enterprise.

Turiaf is a restricted free agent, which means that the Lakers will have seven days to match the offer.

The Heat are close to signing three-point specialist James Jones to a free-agent contract, according to a report in The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Pat Riley is prepared to give Jones a five-year deal starting at $4 million for next season. The final three years of the contract would be conditional to protect the Heat for the 2010 free-agency period

And the Warriors have swooped in and agreed to a deal with Corey Maggette, according to ESPN.com.

The contract is rumored to be a multiyear offer at with a starting salary above the mid-level exception, which is expected to approach $6 million.

Damn you Brand!!! Thorton won't nearly replace him. I think the Clips are focusing on Okafor, now. Okafor is a defensive monster, but too bad he is a mediocre offensive player.

Maggette is going to get OVERPAID!!!!.....so many players getting too much money than they deserve. Its fuckin' rediculous. : ( 17

DeSagana Diop signed a five-year, $31 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, six months after Dallas sent him to New Jersey in the Jason Kidd trade.

Tons of development going on in the offseason. This is shaping up to be one of the best ever. GSW-LAC switch. Brand in Philly. It's great knowing that the East hasn't given up on itself.

Camby trade...talk about a pretty solid fleecing. A 1-2 of Kaman & Camby in the frontcourt is not only tall, but really fucking good on defense, and pretty good on offense too. I guess it'll be Camby-Kaman-Thornton-Mobley-Davis, with Tim Thomas, Brevin Knight, and then a crop of rookies and sophs on the bench (Nick Fazekas, Eric Gordon, DeAndre Jordan, Mike Taylor, Paul Davis, the other Marcus Williams).

They sure did. Just about the proverbial "nail-in-the-coffin" as you can get. I guess the Clips will take the Nugs' place in the playoffs.

Did Anthony get out of the Nuggets roster or George Karl was swept out? Well, rumours said that one of them must step out.

Really overpaid, but they realized that they needed him, last year because he was their only true defensive force.

And some happy news for me. It looks as if the Houston Rockets will be acquiring Ron Artest. Makes me wonder about Shane Battier's role, but fuck it. : ( 18

Lol, Gilbert Arenas. Also, this.

The Charlotte Bobcats have extended an offer to restricted Rockets free agent Carl Landry, leaving Houston with a week to match the offer or lose the forward.
