K Here is an overview of Both systems copied directly from the two sites... I'm not making any system look better or worse:
PSP:
-three-dimensional-CG games incorporating high-quality, full-motion video similar to PlayStation®2 can be played anytime, anywhere with PSP.
-PSP comes in a black color, with a 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD
- a sleek ergonomic design with a high-quality finish that fits comfortably in the hands. The dimensions are 170mm x 74mm x 23mm with a weight of 260g.
- PSP features a high-quality TFT LCD that displays full color (16.77 million colors) on a 480 x 272 pixel high-resolution screen.
- comes complete with the basic functions of a portable player such as built-in stereo speakers, exterior headphone connector, brightness control and sound mode selection.
- Keys and controls inherit the same operability of PlayStation® and PlayStation 2, familiar to fans all over the world
-PSP also comes equipped with diverse input/output connectors such as USB 2.0, and 802.11b (Wi-Fi) wireless LAN, providing connectivity to various devices in the home and to the wireless network outside.
-enjoy online gaming, or by connecting multiple PSPs to each other, directly via the wireless network
-software and data can be downloaded through a USB or wireless network onto Memory Stick™ PRO Duo.
-PSP adopts a small but high-capacity optical medium UMD™ (Universal Media Disc), enabling game software, rich with full-motion video and other forms of digital entertainment content, to be stored.
-The newly developed UMD, the next-generation compact storage media, is only 60mm in diameter but can store up to 1.8GB of digital data. A broad range of digital entertainment content such as music video clips, movies and sports programs can be provided on UMD.
- Microphone that allows Voice Recognition.
- 128 bit
You can Read All the Specifications Here
DS:
-Dual Screens: Two LCD screens offer one of the most groundbreaking game-play advances
-Touch Screen: The lower screen will offer something never before provided by any game device: PDA-like touch capabilities. Players no longer have to rely on just buttons to move characters or shift perspectives. They can navigate menus or access inventory items simply by touching the screen with stylus or fingertip.
-Microphone: An available microphone port means that in the future, players might need only to tell their games what to do.
-Wireless: DS users will be able to connect with a local wireless network of up to 16 players. Nintendo's wireless range is 30 to 100 feet, depending on circumstances; multiple users can play multiplayer games using just one DS Game Card. Players will be able to chat and play games
-3-D: With the newly developed graphics engine, DS can reproduce impressive 3-D renderings that can surpass images displayed on the Nintendo® 64.
-Sound: The 16-channel sound allows for greatly expanded use of voices and music, and a richer, more immersive game experience. Stereo speakers allow for virtual surround sound and a plug for headphones transmits stereo sound.
-Battery & Power Management: Lithium ion battery delivering 6 to 10 hours of play on a four-hour charge, depending on use.
-Dual Slots to allow you to play gameboy Advance games.
You can read all the DA Spectifications Here
Now for what I think...
The two systems are exactly the same accept for that the PSP has Better Graphics, Can Play DVD's and MP3's while the DS can't play MP3's although it can play CD's, It has a Huge and pointless Screen just for maps and inventory's and it has a touch screen for what reason I dunno.... There's my opinion.
I am gonna get the PSP.

PSP costs too much, and the DS is so much cooler in general. I'll take the DS, thank you.

I don't see why people would rather have a portable N64 over a portable PS2.

The second screen isnt pointless..
Im gonna get the DS, nintendo has ruled to handheld market since it existed, plus theres only two good exclusives for the psp-metal gear ac!d and THuG2, but the DS has super mario 54x4 mario kart ds pictochat(which is built in to the DS) Warioware ds The legend of zelda sonic Ds and Finaly fantasy crystal chronicles. Nintendo will definatly come out on top

That game is crap... It's Birds Eye View. And I bet when the PSP comes out sony is probably gonna pay Rockstar a pissload of cash for another contract of Exclusitivty like they did for GTA:SA.

The DS is better than an N64, in addition to having two screens.
The PSP's graphics are worse than the PS2's. Stop making direct N64 - PS2 comparisons.
The question is really more equivalent to "Why would you rather have a PSX or N64 than a dreamcast?"

I've read up a ton on both of them, and I'm all for the DS! I'm more slanted towards nintendo anyways. DS comes out at the end of the month and psp doesnt come out till spring 05. Plus, on one final note, the DS is way more innovative and waaaay cheaper as well. Thank u and goodbye.

Argueing over what YOU think is better is a pretty stupid idea. It would take alot to make someone change there mind to something that they dislike. So going back and forth between the two is a pretty stupid.
Iam going to buy what I want, and what I believe is to be better.
Im sure most of us could give less of a shit about what the competitor says

I completely agree. The nintendo original characters are way better than any others! No dispute. Period.

Why the fuck are you stressing graohics? Anybody remeber Sega's little handheld? That had way better graphics than the gameboy at the time but Nintendo won. Because of gamplay. No game making company makes the quality games nintendo makes. they know what their doing. Also, the DS will most likley be more durable. Sony is notorius for making crappy hardware that breaks easily. Recently a test was done where they dropped a weight on all 3 consoles hit them with a sledge hammer and dropped them from a high spot Sonys playstion broke at the weight drop. Both Xbox and GC survived the sledge hammer and believe it or not the gamecube was the only one to survive. so if its one thing nintendo knows how to make its a durable and enjoyble product
thank you and goodnight
