What does:
scanf("%*[^\n]") stand for...
some kind of flushing?
or... does it kick everything out of the imput buffer except for the newline?
hmm...

I'm not great at C code so I can't really comment on what it does. Just flop it into your code though and see what it does.

Basically, it just skips all characters until the newline.
