as far as i know, canned food lasts a couple of years, which is why you always see it in movies in the atomic bomb shelters. my guess is that different types of canned food have different life spans, as with your chicken noodle soup, chicken itself goes bad fairly quickly so id guess that chikcen noodle soup might not last as long as other foods, the only other way i know of that canned food goes bad is when it is being canned and something gets into the can and causes botulism and the growing number of bacteria cause the can to swell and puff out at the top and bottom

Soup will usually keep for about a year. My friends dad works at a Cambell's factory and I hear about it/get it all the time. I would say the nasty taste is just from the broth fermenting. It doesn't actually ferment but that's the closest thing to relate it to.

Read the part when Wade said "shitty code". You ate the ass of a 2 year old chicken which may has a little moss on it? eww

Actually the shitty code was the expiry date (02) which is most likely 2002.. Since wer're already quite close to year 2005, and canned chicken soup is usually 3 years before it expires, we're looking at a 6 year old chicken soup here.... that's way beyond "Eww"

again, if you haven't seen a doctor yet I suggest you do it

Here's what Campbell's site says about the code and the expiration of soup. I'm assuming it's Campbell soup:

How do I read the code on the top or side of my Campbell product?
The date code displayed on our products is a best used by date. This means that in order to experience optimal color, flavor, aroma and texture the product should be consumed prior to the end of the month displayed on the product. For example, in order to experience optimal quality a product with a date code that reads FEB05 or FEB2005 should be consumed prior to the end of February of the year 2005.

What is the shelf life of my Campbell canned product?
The shelf life of unopened Campbell canned products varies from 1 to 2 years. In order to experience optimal color, flavor, aroma and texture the product should be consumed prior to the end of the month displayed on the product.

To test this, I found some 3 year old Chicken Noodle Soup in my kitchen.

I dissreguarded the warning not to boil, and boiled it anyway (to try to eliminate the possibility for food poisoning).

It turnned a milky yellow color, but the smell stayed consistant.

I ate it, and now Im full.

5 hrs. later, hungry again, and no problems to speak of...

The next test will come 3 years from now, when I try can #2.

i have so many i don't know what to do with them. i think the flavor pack goes bad, but the noodles stay good, just get stale like bread, but they're not dangerous. i think they last for aa good long time. just don't use the flavoring that comes with it.

The problem is there isn't an experation date on it. There's just some stupid f'ing code on it. Am I supposed to call them or go to their website to punch in this code to know if it's safe or not? There was an 02 mixed in there so maybe it expired in 2002.

Accually if you look at the bottom of the can you will see and expriraition date on it.

I just checked the campbell soup site...it said for 3yr-old chicken normal syptoms are...nausea, headaches, diarrhea, constipation, bladder problems, hallucinations, random spasm in the pinky toes, sudden urges to fap to women over 80, random urges to spank your mother, random urges to eat taco bell, sudden hair loss, sudden arm loss, sudden shrinkage in the testicles(permanent), sudden urges to lick your toes, various images of michael jackson in your head randomly appearing, random urges to watch golf. I think thats it, wow you got off pretty easy, you should see what would've happened in another year....

Well, canned soup can be life threatening. If the can looks puffy, asthough it has some sort of gas inside trying to escape, it means that the can was improperly sealed, and botulism has developed. The toxin botulism creates is toxic enough that 1 OUNCE will kill 3 million pounds of living matter, and 1 pound is sufficient enough to kill THE ENTIRE HUMAN POPULATION! So unless it was a puffy can, or poorly made, the only problem a 2 year old can should have would be bad taste due to the metal seeping into the soup.
