I am the FOUNDER and I know NOTHING about flash. Also most of our heavy reviewers and those that view this site DON'T use flash either.This site is for everyone, and the flashmakers who can help as well as the ordinary picky viewer have equal aid in reviews. flashmakers can tell you what to do to update, and the viewers can tell you what they want to see, or what was right/wrong to them in the movie. If a bunch of non flash makers said "This movie had annoying sound" the author will not ignore them,but will do someting about the sound. Flashmakers will simply say "First of all you should stream your music and slim up the graphics,then go to frame X and frame Y and transmogrify them together using this and that to make the animation effect that you couldn't do before so and so whatever....
So you don't need to be an author of flash to be an effective member, nor does it matter if you are one either.
Some people discont you, MI4_REAL_2001, because your'e not an author and only review. You got it right: that doesn't matter.
Listen, the computers in the computer labs at my college ALL have Flash 5 AND Flash 4. Students can use for free. I gave it a try, of course, and made 2 pieces of shite in about one hour. It is EASY to make a bad flash movie. Can you use MS Paint? If so, You can make a bad Flash in minutes!
So that's how I judge. If it looks anything like the shite I could do, it must be crap.
BTW, I can upload those turds to prov--just kidding! I would never! But that's the difference. I DID NOT UPLOAD. Plus Will not, as tempting as the breif infamy (and free blam ;-) ) may be. My dream is to make the portal's only Steve Jobs movie, but it likely won't get done. I'm very busy.
I remember getting into an argument vs Tankando_ (whatever his name is . . .) about this. Him and Srapnel thinks that I shouldn't have a say on what good and bad becauce I never uploaded a signle movie into NG.
I'm sure that many of you have never seen my work. I'm not the best, but I know what flash can do, and how to fix some problems. My only past work are Flash Signatures for other forums that I vist. Here's some examples:
TB.com introThis was going to be a TendoBox.com intro. I cancled the project because I had other things in mind, and I was doing very poor in making my own movie. The top one is nice, but not something that can be viewed over and over and over again, unless it was a header. The one with DK was going to be the intro with him trying to open-up the create, but never be able to do it. In the end, he slashes it with Link's Master Sword. It might of been good, but I never got everything that I needed, plus, I never learned Bit-map tracing at that time.
My first interactive signature I had another before thisone, but I wasn't worth the time of showing it. This used to be only one button with a white background, but after many updates and revisions, this is what I have left. Two working buttons, and a music selection. It's very good in my opinion, but I killed it off to start work on a better one with a cleaner interface.
My latest Signature While it doesn't look like much, this is why I ask for help. It's a signature that will enable mutitasking of many objects. The top slider is for info, the side one allows for Music and SFX, and the bottom one will be for options. It's alot cleaner since I'm working with seperete movie clips instead of one large clip. Plus I'll be able to hold more information in less space by allowing the user to download what they want, instead of the full project.
As you can see, I know my stuff. But why havn't I made movies for NG? It's because I don't want to crap the portal with useless and boring stuff. My work isn't ready for NG, so I'll just continue to refine it, instead of creating "Demos" and "Tests".
I know what I'm doing, so I have a right to my opinion since I know what's right and worng.
