Replying to P-Bot's threads.

I personally think the P-Bot's forum should be read only. In my opinion there really isn't much of a need for discussion in those topics. Free posts more or less.

What do all of you think?

If they did that, it would be annoying to see P-bots postings or Network News in the upper edge of the other forums.

I agree because whenever I look at it, I always see someone spamming across every different post from P-bot.. Saying things like "Cool" or "Those were awesome". It's pretty lame.

I've only replied once to a P-bot post, mostly because I wasn't 100% sure how it worked. If someone was going to respond or whatever... But I found out there is no point in doing it, just a safe way to spam and get your post count up.. Which is still pretty lame.

if they did ever do that, id doubt that they would post every new thread other than NG news in other forums.

anyway, i completely dodged the first question, and i dont think p-bots should be read only. it is a nice little area to discuss opinions on the flash that made it and didnt make it. if they didnt have it people just might talk too much about those movies in the general forum

There isnt much point in changing it but people should think of something more constructive to say than just replying for the hell of it. But if it was read-only if anybody did have something to say about a movie would make a new thread in general

I agree, but what is really bad is the fact that when new responses are put in those forums and the news it doesn't go back to the top, so it never gets noticed. People spam in these all the time and go unnoticed.

Not only that, but we check the P-bot postings regularly on the off chance that there is a movie that shouldn't have made the listings (possibly because it's stolen and hasn't been taken out during judgement). It also acts as a catch-all for the "Why didn't so and so get an award today - it had a higher score than the rest?" questions.... (Check yesterday's posting for an example of that).

The majority of people who post replies to P-bot's messages aren't regulars to the forums, either - and it doesn't go completely unmoderated, spam messages are cleared up reasonably frequently in there (not as fast as in general, but then again, P-bot's forum isn't that highly frequented (most people just click the links from the front page) and doesn't get nailed by as many messages as general does).

I think it is perfectly fine as it is now. Why should people not be able to discuss the popular flash with other NG members? Sure, some may just go there and say "wow I liked these". But one "free post"(as you call it) per day isn't that big of harm is it? Some people may even want to have legitimate conversation on the current top 5. So why ruin their NG experience?

I wouldn't say safe. Going to every p-bot post on the page and posting a one line post would somehow violate the rules. Whether it is in the rule list or not, you can get banned.(P-bot postings is modded too right?)

Anyway, as liljim said, it's a good thing for there to be a forum devoted to the recognition of Flash authors and their movies. I haven't seen people posting constantly to boost post count in there on the rare occasion when I do lurk the place.

Well, I haven't really posted in P-Bot's section for a long time, because I thought one day for a moment that if it was really necessary that I would express my opinion about how the top 5 entries were.
The anwser: Yes and no. I think it is quite usful that you tell what is good and bad from the entries to give opinions, but, also, I have better things to do almost every day, and it is tough to keep saying what you think of the entries every time.
