Since Pico went through several redesigns before a final version was decided on for Pico 2, I thought it would be cool to show everyone the different Pico concepts that were under consideration! This will be the official thread for people to discuss Pico's new look.

CHECK OUT THE PICO CONCEPT ART!

I think all the Pico concept forms are very well thought-out, and any of them would work just fine as a final character. I especially liked the Anime Pico - he may not have the guts to wield a shotgun - but look how cute he is! Awww!

I think the best one was the anime one, yet they all look somewhat good. I also liked the final Pico.

It's clear to see that Pico have grown up a bit for his next adventure.
The Anime is missing that force that Pico had.
And the zeebarf figures is too cartoonish.
I admit that the old Pico & co may need a rest, but i sure will miss 'em.
And i bet that we all will, with time, grow to like the new style just as much.

The cross ? I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT BROTHER !!!

I'm actually tossing around the idea of releasing an .FLA with all the original Pico characters and accessories (word bubbles, etc.), so people can make their own fun Pico adventures. I'd just hope they would upload them to NG. :)

I'll miss the old school style that the original pico had, but the new one looks good as well. I could see an anime based around Pico, or some kind of adult cartoon. Pretty cool Tom!

Jose has my compliments. The new Pico is definitely a step up from the '99 edition. Thanks for putting the work into the new game, guys.

I think it would be so cool if you released a Pico charaacter set Tom, I am sure there would be a squad of good Pico games to come. The only thing would be the countless shoddy crap....

I think his forhead is a bit too big and his face a bit too long, the cute lil old rounded head gave him a more innocent childish look...

What was wrong with the original Pico? Except for the fact that he didn'r really have any legs... The Zeebarf ones look too, well, Zeebarf! You chose the right ones. Keep the original annoying music though. You all know what I mean, whaen the people are talking and stuff. I can't get that damn thing out of my head...

I think it cool to see all the tranformations pico has gone throught (and his just so young), i think zeebarf's idea was cool it kanda reminded me of the cartoon life with louly on fox.

one more thing anime is (hard to beleive) not a drawing it is never put on paper, only bad anime or real caroons are, anime is done on computer, i mean, have you ever really watched it, it is clearly not a drawing, and i not drying to mean when i said that.

I dunno Tom... Jose did draw Pico a bit better than the others BUT (there always is a but) he is far too hyped up if you ask me! Look back to the original Pico... He was a young chubby 5 year old who was brought into a peaceful world to a world of violence and genocide just because destiny chose him remember when Pico first stood up to the Goth kids? He didn't wanna do it but he had no choice, imagine what could of happened if Pico didn't make the change in his small life? In the Pictures that Jose Ozitz made, he made Pico look he has used to all the gunning but inside he is still a peaceful young kid and something holds him back from being utterly genocidal... Think about it, MAYBE if you made Pico look slighty smaller and and like as if adults are taller than him (a lot like Calvin and Hobbes) he might orginate to his real character... Nene looks ok... Head looks to big though... But Darnell... He could be done a lot better to look like his real character hmmmm... High IQ, Like carrying weapons... Hmm... Nah.. Maybe not, he looks ok as long as he looks more like he has a nose a still likes fire a lot it's ok

While there's something I like about each of the styles, I think the final concept is the best all-around. Can't wait to see those guys in action!

I think the Jet Grind radio look kicked major ass. So it looks a little old school. Its still sweet. Your style is a little different but its all good.

By the way Tom dude, for the love of god take off those nasty ass banners!

I remember back in the day, Sierra made a game called "The adventures of Willy Beamish." Somehow, the concept art reminded me of it, becuase I had the hint book (I know, I'm a lousy cheater, heh.) for it. It included the concept art, and Pico 2 just brought this to mind.
Anyway, as for the final style of Pico 2: Almost perfect. Ingenious. Why? Well, yes, I DO love Calvin and Hobbes, but that is only part of the reason. Their style seems to fit Pico. Calvin and Hobbes was an innocent, yet philosphical veiw of childhood, and Pico seems to have that same charm. Yes, he's a gun toting maniac, but somehow he has the same innocent, yet wise personality that Calvin has. The first game showed some of that, in his comments. A liitle boy with wisdom, an uncanny form of intelligence. Well, that wisdom is what I found cool about Pico. Other than the fact that he's an adorable little psycho.
Hmm... the art just seems to match. The wisdom and innocence of Calvin and Hobbes for a wise little boy in an insane world. Well, some may be confused by what I mean by wisdom, but what I mean is perhaps truth. I don't know, I'm rambling again, but you may know what I'm talking about.
Just see if you can get Pico a bit more like Calvin, not EXACTLY like him, but enough to make Pico look a little less "Cartoony" and more "Comicy." It's ultimately your decision, and I'm not griping, the work is great. Just a few suggestions. Once again, nice job, please try and see if you can get some concept art from Jose of the other characters in this style. Oh, and the hair needs to be altered just a tad, in the back, heh, heh. Nice work Jose!

Very nice designs by all! All of the styles were diferent and still seemed to work in their own way for a game like Pico, but not FOR Pico. The Annie eyes are an important feature to carry along into the sequel. If this takes place years later, he could have some more height to him.

High School - many classes of people and things to explore: The druggies, the nerds, the jocks, the preps, the cheerleaders, the geeks, hidden avenues and passage-ways behind lockers, janitors and school staff to avoid, the Trench Coat Mafia behind the corner as a main boss, the chem-class spills chemicals on the school food and out grows boss number 2, so many ideas for a high school setting. A college setting would take one beyond that!

I really like the ones before the Calvin and Hobbes version. I don't think it is even realistic for pico to be that young... even for NG. I always kinda pictured him as in his mid teens or early teens. I really liked the JSR like versions because that charecter seemed like it could be built on more and have more of a bad ass attitude.
