Is the majority right most of the time? What perspective are you looking from?

the majority? i think everyboady has their own opinions, but when many people have related opinions, they tend to be right, unless they are biased or wrongfully informed... usually i happen to fall on the side of the majority, but on many a time i have fallen in the minority... next time you start a thread though, try not to make the subject so broad... the question had too many answers...

"Right" is pretty subjective. For the majority, they are right. And most "rights" and "wrongs" are dictated by the norm of the society.

So now, one has to wonder who creates the norms of a society. The elite, or the people? I believe the elite do, thus... The majority is not always right.

Ditto. Majority are no always right. If majority always had their way, we would never had gotten Civil Rights, anti-slavery laws, etc. Majority always means a bunch of people whom agree on something-- but that something doesn't mean that it's right.

All whites are racist.
All Jews are greedy.
All Irish are drunks.

But you couldn't be more wrong. Here's how I see it.

All men are men.
All women are women.
All boys are boys.
All girls are girls.
All humans are humans.
All people are people.

So if you came in with 98, that's my 2 cents. Now you leave with a buck.

From a biopolitical prospective, the majority is always right. However majority in this case refers to both numbers and will. In the cases stated above the force of numbers may have been opposed to changes but they didn't think it was worth the effort to fight allowing a smaller group to weild a greater amount of power. A good modern example is probably gay marriage. If put to the ballot, it would undoubtably be shot down therefore proponents will fight in courts and aginst individual districts and politicians. Since most of us just don't care that much a mass opposition will not form. Subsequently gay marrage weill probably become the law of the land.

I think the majority cannot be "right" or "wrong". I see no "right" or "wrongs", just opinions. I also hate Democracy.

In the subject of politics there is no right or wrong, all upon a point of view, you can always consult your own ethics and base your own right or wrong but there is no right or wrong like 1+1 = 2
