Who said? Truth is fairly inactive so I can help organize rules and such.
It was just a pun on "Revival of Melee", since everyone was talking about reviving the SSBC_NG chat. There isn't an actual tourney.
We play in a competitive way, which means:
1v1 play
no items
neutral stages only
I don't really see/hear many of these matches anymore. The only person who (I think) is still really interested in seriously serious matches is John, with everyone else just doing random matches for testing and other experiments.
Before this crew has revolved around wi-fi friendlies and common wifi tournaments. But many of our members have started to dislike wi-fi since it's so damn laggy. Many of us have been to local tournaments now.
I sort of wish for people to like wifi again, since the crew has grown more inactive since this bandwaggon hopping of wifi hating. I don't know completely since I'm on the other side of the world now, but... anyways.
Uh...the only one who's really "hopped off of Wi-Fi" is knux, and he still goes on every so often. Sure, everyone's going to tourneys, but that doesn't mean that they don't go on Wi-Fi.
No one was always like this. Like you, Kuro, we first player in FFAs with items on high and random button mashing and such. A few of us still play this way (namely Machop90 and loogiesquared). But most of the people here have adapted into competitive play style.
We still do FFAs though. Like two weeks ago, me, GZ, Loogie, and UL were doing FFAs with Ganondorf and Captain Falcon. Not everyone's into just doing 1 on 1's, although that's obviously the best way to test out how good you are or if you're improving.
And yes, we find this way of playing very fun. It's more challenging. Random FFAs will and do get boring after a while. We keep playing because we want to get better.
Random FFAs don't get boring, unless you pick characters that spam from the sides of the stage. But the stupidity that can go down during FFAs usually won't make it so boring. Same thing with items.
So just as a heads up, we prefer items off. But if you still want to play with items, that's fine too. And please, come on chat. Let's have a few matches. You choose the rules.
Ehh, agreed I guess. It's probably just because we've played so many matches without items that seeing them is odd.
But yeah, don't get scared off by the "competitiveness" of the group. We like showing off how good we are at the game, but we also like to have fun, so matches where you screw around are welcome. Just make sure you give a warning before you decide to do random things, it could annoy other people.
