Well, I'm doing well in applying Pivot Grabs to my game, including Falco's DACPG or "Boost Grab" as the young'uns say.

New MALR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgjlry8df ZE
Sequel to all of those Evil King Ganondorf videos

I've been playing alot of Melee lately. I might start going to Melee tournaments. The game is too good. Everything about Peach was better. The Mario 'combos' I like doing in Brawl are actually guaranteed in Melee. I also love Falcon in this game. I'm getting used to L canceling.

DieSuperFly is a potty mouth.

This man knows how to imitate the Smash characters' voice very well.

It sure is a useful technique. I have yet to master using it to reverse a chaingrab to the other direction, since generally it's easier and more guaranteed to just spike them once I run out of room.

But it is useful if theyre on lower damage, and you want to get them off stage, since his reverse throw is much better than his forward one.

It works well to spite jump approaches, I caught a Marth while he was short hop forward airing.

Nice, I'll have to try that.

Does anyone know any good general Lucario-countering techniques as Falco. The main trouble I have is just the enormous range he has on his aerials.

I hate the fact that his Dair pushes him upwards, as well as having a huge hitbox below and to the sides, since my friend always seems to manage to punish my attempts to spike him from an approach below him, and by above approaches are always predictable.

Plus the fact that I'm a moron, and always spotdodge his Smashes way too early :(

There are certain characters that you cannot spotdodge, Lucario is one of them.
Guard.
Second, although it's not very honorable, you can play a shoot and run game, a few short hop lasers, then illusion when he gets close. You may wanna chain grab too, Lucario is an unfair character and I wish he die in a fire, so you may want to use everything you can.

Ok then, Spotdodging is out of the question. Perhaps I need to practice powershielding then, since Lucario's smashes push you away too far too counter with anything decent.

Shoot and run isn't one of my main tactics, though I do try to use it to rack up the extra points whenever I can - generally it's shoot an running towards Lucario as opposed to away :P

Chain-grabbing is fairly useless though, I've tried it... it works maybe twice at 0%, but after that it's no good... especially seeing as my mate always hammers A as soon as he's in a grab, so he tends to catch me with a Nair if I try to grab him several times in a row.

I did find that Falco's Fair is quite good for damage on him, since if you start it right, Lucario will get caught by every hit of it relatively easily, which you can then follow up with a Dair if you haven't used your second jump yet... hard to do, but it is possible.

Paradox. Have you tried following a laser shot with a grab-dash attack-dacus-AAA combo? Yes, Lucario is one of those characters that are hard to beat, especially when your a Falco. Hell, after playing John (Best Lucario in the crew) so many times, you'd think I'd find a way to beat his Lucario with Falco. Only happens in rare occasions when I beat him. How about any of the tilts? Do you use utilt? It always sets up a bair, though you'd have to jump to either side of Lucario to get away from Lucario's dair. Try Falco's air game more. Love his nair and bair. I sometimes use Fair to ledge guard, but meh.

Though, try to in cooperate Falco lasers with all I said above. Try SHDL more, if you do it successfully, you'll have no lag while landing. Phantasm more, (yeah, its not honorable, but you gotta win baby!). Hope you do better against your friend the next time. And I must say. Pivot grabs are sexy. Especially when you do Falco's Boost Pivot grab.

I think we need to develop our own ruleset and counterpick list for the Spring Tourney.

My idea was that everyone in the crew suggest a rational counterpick (with reasoning) to be quickly agreed upon and played in the CP list for the tourney. Like:

"I want Hanenbow because there's no music"

"Denied, bish."

__________

"I want Lylat Cruise because it's a n-counterpick in most people's minds, has no obstacles or transformations, and is a good choice for counterpicking spacies."

"ACCEPTED!"

Thanks for the advice. How would you get a jab combo working after a Gatling DACUS (that's what I'm assuming you're talking about with the first point), since the UpSmash's lag and the knockback upwards would make it miss, right?

I use my D-tilt quite a bit actually, since it's good for launching people upwards to follow up with a Nair or Fair, but I don't U-tilt much since there's so much lag on it, and also it's a tad predictable. I do use it occasionally though.

Also, I do use my airs a lot...hell, 90% of the match is played in the air, which might be a contribution to the times he beats me, since Lucario's air attacks have a shit-tonne lot more range than Falco's. I suppose the benefit Falco has is that his ones are generally quicker.

I pretty much always SHDL when approaching, and laser him whenever he's off stage generally. Generally have the timing perfect too (not to toot my own horn or anything), so that's not a huge issue. I might have to try Phantasming more though.

I must say though, it's not like I lose all the time to this guy. It's more that he's the character I have the most difficulty with (barring MetaKnight) so I just want to find more effective ways of fighting Lucario.

When I was talking about in cooperating the lase, I meant after you had made the shot with SHDL or SHL(I prefer SHL but SHDL has its benefits), obviously you'll have no lag when you land. Try running towards your opponent to either grab, dash attack, dacus, AAA combo, or smash. I didn't meant do a dacus then follow it up with AAA.

Do you main Falco? I'd pretty much like to fight it. Then again, Falco ditto's are stupid. You can for sure expect is tons of camping and CG's. We can still try, lol.

Ah, fair enough. I got a little confused by that. That's actually a technique I use a fair bit - double laser, then gatling, or just chuck a reflector out quickly and hope for a trip, which you can take advantage of if you're quick enough.

And yeah, I do main Falco. I'd like to have a fight, but I'm not at home at the moment, and even if I could, the lag would be so bad it wouldn't be any fun. I'm in Australia after all :(

I'll go dig up the entrants list...

Well, two main reasons. 1. To debate counterpicks and whittle them down only to the stages we like / need. Par example, GZ likes Pirate Ship for his Ike, so he wants that stage to be selectable from the CP list.

2. To have a bit of customization. And, to let every entrant have their own little advantage. It's either we start with only neutrals (Battlefield, FD, Smashville, Yoshi's is debatable), and each member gets one or two CPs added to the list, or we start off with the standard rule set, and mix and match banned and counterpick stages as we please.

It's up to the crew.

If you have the option, which a Falco more than likely would, don't approach too much. unless you mastered buffering a dash out of a short hop laser, then camping is your best bet. Falco has a great bait and punish game, so making your opponent come to you is ideal as a defensive stance is pretty good in this match up.
If you have mastered buffering, then you can be a bit more offensive, but make sure the laser hits. If you miss, then your window of opportunity is shortened.

Yea, though usually the opponent rolls/spot dodge or shield, which you can still grab if they do shield. Falco's bait and punish game is great, though its sucks when its Falco ditto's.

Hey everyone, been a long time since I posted here. Soon I'm getting brawl+, which will be awesome and recently I've been playing vBrawl a lot anyways.
Seems like a lot of people left......
oh and knuxrouge I saw you a couple times at swf.
I've been trying to get good again and I think its going ok, its kinda hard to tell when I don't have a real person who's any good to fight, so I hope to see some people online.
I still main Lucas and I have three secondary's (Olimar, Luigi, MGW) which I'm not that good at I think (again its hard to tell, all I know is I beat level 9's with them but that's really not saying much since playing against humans is so much different)

Back on the subject of brawl+......you guys all know what it is right? Knux I know you do.
Its Brawl, hacked to be a more competitive/balanced game. It looks really fun I can't wait to try it out. Right now you can't get it on the Wii Menu 4.0 so I have to wait until someone releases a new version of homebrew. There's also talk about using the Gecko OS to run it off an SD card, which will make it even easier to get.

What is this nonsense? Hacks are boring. Oh, and to anyone who hasn't brawled Chazo (besides me, John, and vcg and anyone else I forgot to mention), I must say, he's quite a competitive DDD. I can't say much what he needs to work on. He's a good brawler, doesn't john (only on the CG) and he friendly. CHAZO, I LOVE YOU. You are now my 4th favorite person to brawl. Hope you come to this group more often.
