As long as the message is understood, it should be fine. Not everyone wants to take the time to see whether or not their gammer is perfect.

"Should" is the emphasis of your statement. However, it's not fine. It's rather aggravating to put effort into writing a decent and intelligent post, only to have it followed by responses from pre-teens who seem to think that writing in chat-room shorthand is fun.
It's also annoying when the only reply you get is "OMFG j00 mispelled a word LOLROFLMAOSTFU!!!!One thousand one hundred eleven!!!!
For the record: I still use Speed Stick.

Don't complain about others' grammar when you make mistakes of your own. It cancels out whatever it was that you were trying to say.
For school work, I use perfect grammar.
But on the net-- if it can be read and there aren't many mistakes, it's good enough.
Grammar and spelling is just too much work.
I say don't get too uptight on grammar. This is a sight to be having fun...

I would normally say "I agree with you, spanishfli", but given the fact that you're a homosexual, I'll instead send Rev. Fred Phelps to your house so he can haunt you while you sleep.
Not that I have a reason for it. It's just fun.
Personally, I think that if you are going to make a new topic, your grammar and spelling for both the topic title and the body of your message should be almost perfect. You have to assume that everyone who is going to post in thread is going to read your post.
Also, when your post is longer than a paragraph or is very complicated, you really need to watch your grammar. It is very difficult to read a long post sometimes and it's almost impossible if it's bunched into one gigantic paragraph.
This isn't school, but they teach you grammar and spelling in school for a reason, it makes it easier for people to understand you. If you're in school it might even be good practice if you put an effort into your posts.
