Do you think sitting down with head members of terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda and saying "Be our friends, PLEEASSSEEEE" would work? So it would be the same with leaders of countries like Iraq and Pakistan. Although, officially, Iraq is not an enemy anymore. They are working towards a democratic government. Its the Iraqi militants who are opposing the "American led multinational army".

Another thing would be if some leader, from say Al-Qaeda, asked Bush what we could do for peace, do you think Bush would be apt to say "Let's just be friends?" No, I don't think so.

yep, Dobio is right. The middle east has a VERY long history of tribal feuds and hate that is passed seemlessly down through the generations for hundreds or thousands of years.
