-Ack!- Your lack of proper spelling is hurting my eyes... ah, screw it, I don't feel like being so picky about that, here's the point:

America would probably rot internally like the Roman Empire, but my bet would be that it would be destroyed by external circumstances long before that. It's only a matter of time before America gets nuked by terrorists (and I'm not talking ICBMs, I'm talking homemade nuke in a rusted-ass van). Once that happens the shit will hit the fan. Just think about it...

Dude, you wrote like a retards history of Rome. I am willing to bet you have close to no idea what happened to Ancient Rome. Study up some more before you make claims like this. And why the pessimism?

And, some have argued, that the way America works is so different from any other system ever invisioned that we are in a system of life and death. We are constantly re inventing ourselves and evoloving to the new world, like no other Goverment has done before. And no, I didnt make this shit up, a real scholar made this. But I dont completly buy it cause the National Debt is gonna fuck us all over.

Want to know why the Romans died off?

Its because they literally were taxed too high and raided by barbarians too often. The Enoire died because people were paying too much to many corrupt officals, and barbarians saw an opportunity to get in.

If Rome had avoided the taxes and had checks and balances to keep it working well, the empire would have grown forever.

The USA was set to die in the 1860s. But it showed a resillience that would have broken a non-democratic nation. No one dislikes being an American, in fact, life is pretty good if you think about it. It takes a lot of abuse to get people pissed off enough to overthrow a government. Once you are secure in power, a content people will let you rule them.

Bush is a moron, but we have a system of checks and balances that would have a democrat in office within five years (and hopefully four months), who will reverse his agendas. People will get mad, but we all play by the rules. America's leaders often have scandals. Sometimes they are puppets (actually, even Reagan was a puppet) of other, better people. Bush is really Cheney's Puppet, a fact which suggests that this election is really Cheney Vs. Kerry.

But Rome's error was to let the people become scared, unhappy and unprotected for too long, and people will oppose a government that does this. The USA, as a democracy, will face massive impeachment trial rather than accept malicious leaders. We are governed on many levels... I can turn to Gov> Schwarzenegger, or the Mayor, for help if I'm facing a problem. If Bush misses this, the state can take action.

Rome started out as a democracy, copying of of athens. The rich Be came more rich as they used slavery, they spread there power across the known world then a genral started to take over the goverment, his name was juies cezar (can't spell sorry) He was kill by the senite, then his son agustis cerar hunted them down and became the first empore of rome! There came some empores but not many of them were good. Rome became cristain when the empore constaintien converted. A mix of iflation, lack of jobs, Invaion, new religion, and pore leadership cause the fall of rome!

How about that Fucker!!!

Dude, that is a retartds history of Rome, still. Any freshmen High Schooler in America at least knows that much. BlueMax put Romes decline much better than you, even though that was a bit scant, but it worked.

And he explained why America is different also. Kudos to you, BlueMax.

Another reason for Rome's downfall, which is prtty much cemented to the things that Bluemax said, is that they wildly over-extended their reach. They needed too much money for military exploits and the like, and they couldn't provide the people with protection or law enforcement of any kind.

Beyond that, the fall of Rome really began with the fall of the Roman Republic, not the Roman Empire. This began truly whenever Julius Ceasar took the "emergency" role of dictator (a position that had a role in Roman politics). This role was devoid of the negative connotations we associate with it today, and was more or less a strong executive that controlled all aspects of the system. It was more or less a quiet takeover of power by the executive branch. Even under the rule of the Ceasars (beginning with Julius' successor Octavian/Augustus). The Senate continued to exist, but Rome's fall began. Rome finally fell due to a combination of internal corruption, lack of ethos, military overextension, and economic collapse. But that step to true rule by a single person is what initiated that final fall. Until that happens in the United States, I really don't think our nation will truly fall like the Romans.
