Hurricane Ivan Evacuation 2004-09-14 19:40:38 Reply

As the other huriicanes left shocking damage, Ivan is supposed to hit even harder. People are currently evacuating along the Gulf Coast. The huriicane is predicted to hit from south of New Orleans, to Apalachicola, Florida. You may wonder why I am posting this in Politics. Well economy plays a major role in the subject, and there will be alot of damage done. The amount of damage is going to hurt the economy (primarily locations in the Hurricane's path), but luckily the governmet will give them Emergency Aid to repair things.

O.K. why did u post here?.
nothing to debate about,
u just said "lots of damage".

anyway as a starter:
I Highly Doubt The Government will give/get sufficient funds.
Further more if they do, the country will be bankrupt (possibly)
leading to poverty, crime, blah blah blah, or maybe not.

I've noticed that death tolls for hurricanes include people who have died indirectly. Take Frances, for example. Its official death toll includes 2 people whose plane crashed while they were spraying to keep mosquitoes down from the storm, and 1 person who had a heart attack while clearing away brush from his yard.

Isn't that kind of inflationary?

And on another note, one good thing about mandatory evacuations is that it's a good application of natural selection. Remember, mandatory evacuations aren't exactly mandatory--police can't make you comply. Therefore, stupid people who think they can ride out 140+ mph winds and 10-16 ft. storm surge on a wooden house on a barrier island are usually first to go.

So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we had the key...

I hope Ivan doesn't get any harder. I have my best, and I mean BEST, friend living in Florida. I can't get a hold of him or e-mail him.

Newgrounds is probably the most gayest thing I ever heard of.

If the hurricane prone areas over develop, evacuation will become impossible. Just a thought

All we need now is Dick Cheney to say there'd be less hurricanes under Bush than under Kerry.

And I wouldn't put it past him, either...

Yea. Thats good news. I'm glad it didn't bounce up the coast and destroy every shoreside location along its path either.

Its funny because its true. =D
