Well, what do you think the political ramifications of this will be? I personally see conservatives jumping on this to say gay marrage dosen't work while completly ignoring the straight divorce rate

Anybody thick enough to think Bush is a good president, can be stupid enough to use the divorce of one gay couple as a reason for not letting any gays get married. (Nevermind that fully HALF of all straight marriages end in divorce...)

Its funny how people think that one gay divorce makes the whole homosexuals getting marriage thing proven to not work out. If you compare the amount of gay marrages divorced out of gay married couples to straight divorces out of straigh married couples.. The ratio would be shocking.

anyways, it's just one divorce-- what does this prove to opponents of gay marriage? Nothing.

The cycle will be complete when a gay couple with a kid gets divorced and the judges head explodes from haveing to do something other than blindly choosing the mother

Surly it would be stranger if there were no divorces. This just makes gay marrage seem more normal.

The mans got a point. Straight couples get divorced, gay couples get divorced. Of course, here in America, while they weren't technically divorced, 8,000 homosexual couples got just magically unmaried by the supreme court... Also, anyone stupid enough to vote for Bush is stupid enough to do many things(e.g. try to ammend the constitution to restrict human rights). Now, dont get me wrong here. I dont hate republicans at all as long as they're liberal about it :)

Well from what I've heard some of the deepest conserns amoung gays regaurding the idea of marage were divorce and death rights. So this is indeed a milestone.

somehow while this story is completely irrelevant to any REAL social or political issues such as homosexual rights, it some how leaves a smile on my face from the dry sort of humor it brings.

This is very relevant to their rights. It could well determine how legally valid the marrages are seen by defining what seperating couples are entitled to.

when gay marriage because legal, a gay divorce is an inevnible, due to any stretch of logic.

It is also fairly safe to assume they shall be handled in the same way as a strait divorce. While its a funny milestone, it is completely irrelevant to all but the trivia crowd.

Yes, gay marrages being treated exactly like straight marrages in a completly non news worthy way is why there has been nothing on the t.v, in the newspapers or on this damn politics forum about it at all.
