http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/191882

With an AMEX American Express card AD. The actual ad that was in the correct position was an AOL AD. The American Express one was like a javascript ad that covered essential parts of the page.

Not a virus, but intrusive advertising.

Sorry, i can't think of what the ratings would be, but i'm pretty sure they aren't 17+.

ya I get those too. and I didn't know where it was coming from and now I know.

When I was seeing a movie, there was a pop-up (Even if my pop-up blocker is on !!!). If my mind is correct, it was a net-meeting pop-up. The rate was "Suitable For All", in the Portal.

BTW, I'm living in France and I have some banners (usually Green Card's Ad) in French ! Is that normal ? Thank for the response.

I got the solution.

http://www.snapfiles.com

or a quick link to one of the downloads:

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/adaware.html

Okay, listen up!

Download:

Webroot's SpySweeper
Ad Aware
Super Ad Blocker (http://www.snapfiles.com/features/superadblocker-801-447680.php)
Internet Download Manager (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/idlmanager.html)

Below is the ultimate link to get to all the Freeware. click on the banner to return to homepage if you want to access other zones.

http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/

I did it myself, and even on my 1999- pc, No spyware is detected.

I do not own this site, nor I am member of it. I do not try to advertise for it, I just want to help my fellow Newground people. I hope the moderators, administators and others understand.

That should end most trouble of the Newsground members, so the only problem will be the vault from where the spyware comes from.

Hope I helped you all a lot!
later

I read somewhere that the cause of Newgrounds' popup problem could come from the server. (not Newgrounds' in itself...)

A site that provided help to online casino addicts was hosted by some server... People coming to that site received online casino popups. (that doesn't make much sense, I know) The owners of that site could not be held responsible for this.

In my opinion, the server hosting NG "could" be to blame.

I got a virus from your site, I know this because this was the only site I was at last night. when I woke up this morning and I got on the computer all this stuff was messed up. I am not sure exactly where I got it from here, but I do know that it erased a bunch of my files and corrupted a bunch too. The files that were erased were mostly Documents, and it even fucked up my "Corel Photo house". I want to warn every about this 'cause it is really fucked up! I don't think I will be coming back here unless the problem gets fixed. Let me know if it does

The new pop-ups that aren't exactly in new windows mess up the Portal View page by plenty. Especially the Cheap Tickets one, even when you click the X button, it still stays there, covering up the vote and the play movie buttons!!! And the "Shoot the whatever to win a free IPod!" banner. Oy. It gets rid of the cursor, to the point where it gets beyond annoying. Let's just say that there should be no more Flash-formatted ads, those are the biggest pains. And the attached viri from the ads were what thrashed my last computer. Still don't see why anyone would want 1,000 smileys. They must market for retards.

All I can say is thank goodness that I vehemently block any and all ads on every site that I go to. I stomp out all ads I come upon, like the cockroaches they are.

If you really are serious about ad blocking, use either Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox with the AdBlock plugin which can be found at http://adblock.mozdev.org/ .

For anyone who hasn't heard of Mozilla, it solves a ton of the problems with ads/viruses that you'll have everyday with IE. You'll be amazed how few probs you'll have with your PC when you install this and stop using IE. Spybot Search and Avast Antivirus are also 2 free programs that you can download on Cnet that work wonders.

For anyone annoyed by this you could always do what i did... go download the free version of adaware. It will get rid of most adware (usually harmless tracking cookies that most people think are viruses) Then just remove the problems as they occur.

However i do like the idea of a flash ad preloader for all movies. Newgrounds will get some cash and won't have to worry bout so many complaints. Paying the users who submit movies for each veiw they get would not be a good idea though. That would sharply increase the number of people submittting a bad flash each and every day. Maybe if you only offer that to front page flashes...
