Audacity voice problem 2004-09-13 07:10:44 Reply

I have a problem with Audacity and/or Flash!
Anyway, here is the problem: I have recorded voices in audacity and added some effects, like higer and lower tones etc. I then exported the files in .WAW format, then i imported the WAW in to flash and set i to stream. When trying it out on stage by pressing enter, everything sounds perfect, but when i "test movie" or "publish preview" the voices are all blurry and screwed up!
I have tried to set the sound to start or event but then it gets only a little better but totally out of sync!
P.S. Other WAW files that i have downloaded works perfectly, in stream as well as event. I only have this problem with those made in audacity!

File -> Export -> Export movie

Change the STREAM settings. And the EVENT settings, just in case, to 32 kbps

Ok, tried that, but it did not work :(
As i said, other WAWs work fine... only those made in audacity becomes screwed! Is there someone with audacity experience that know why?

Maybe you have an older version of audacity, try to re-download it... and if it keeps failing, export it as a mp3

There really should be no reason why wavs from Audacity should be different to any other wav.... I mean, it's a wav. Unless you're saving a different format format as wav by mistake (ogg, mp3, whatever) it should all be ostensibly the same. Do you have the same format for all the wavs you're using? KHz, stereo/mono and bit?

Ok, i have tried to change the settings, but there is no difference. When i only record my normal voice and then use it in flash, there is no problem, but when i edit the sound and add ecos etc. it wont work in preview mode.
my settings are:
In Audacity:
Qality:
Standard samplingfreqenzy: 64000Hz
Standard sampling format 32-bit float
Real time sample rate converter: High
High-qality sample rate converter: High
realtime dither: none
High qality dither: triangel
...........................................................................
.................

Uncompressed expertformat: WAW (microsoft 32 bit float)

And in FLASH, public settings:
audio stream: Mp3, 32 kbps, mono
audio event: MP3, 32 kbps, mono

override soundsettings=unchecked
export device sounds=unchecked

Can you upload/email a sample so we know what the imported wav sounds like?
Also : 64000Hz seems unusual ;)

Problem solved! :D
I converted the file with the modyfied voice in to an MP3, and that made the trick! Apparantly you cant use audacitymodified sounds in WAW format, i have no idea why thougt...
About the Hz, i dont really know what the default setting was, i have played around a bit with it... if anyone knows what level it is supposed to be at i would be thankful if you let me know! ;)

FYI for the future, 44000Hz is what you want your settings to be at for the future. I'm willing to bet that it converted to this while saving as an .mp3 and that is what solved your problem. Next time you make a .wav, set it to 44KHz and you should be good-to-go.

Yes, i am sure that 64k was the problem. I bet flash cant handle more then 48k.
