4.07 / 5.00 10,082 ViewsHey guys, I am representing the game development team Space Strategy and Tactics, in the process of developing a game of the same name.
Our goal is to create an enviroment that simulates real physical laws and arenas the size of whole solar systems to simulate what stellar combat would really be like.
We have made exciting progress, but we now need some help. We'll be glad to accept new members, as long as they mean well and contribute to our cause through time and effort.
A list of positions available are here. It might also be nice to have a flash artist if we ever want to make a promotional flash animation.
Suggestion makers are always welcome, too.
Our homepage is www.ssnt.org
Please, be nice. No trolls, please.
Like I posted in your other topic, if this is actually for real, I might be interested in programming...
My experience doesn't vary very far out of ActionScript and Visual Basic when it comes to programming games , but I do know enough C to get by, and if you are interested and get this thing off the ground, I can find a couple of guys who know a fuckload of C and C++ to help me with teh OpenGL programming...
contact me at milo@goofygarber.net if you want to talk, anytime, or post at http://www.goofygarber.net/bbs/portal.php

I believe this is a greater job than a couple of teenagers can manage.

Way to shoot down dreams of fame and fortune. ;|
You can start small, you don't really need to have complete solar systems. I'll try it a little bit, but I'm wondering; DirectX or OpenGL? Email me if you want me, I'm a decent C/C++ programmer. I haven't done major projects so I may not be that great. Anyways, your site is down.

Even if you start small, this is a dreamy project.
I would bet my own grandmother that this project will eventually be scrapped.

Well, ya gotta start somewhere. That's where Blizzard came from, if I must remind.
And the site isn't down,a s far as I know. So, please, go ahead and take a peak before making predecided comments.
Well what are the odds of you becoming just like Blizzard?
It all depends, really.
Once we get the game actually working, we may work towards closing the source and copywriting it.

your an idiot, you can only start small like that when games werent really out much, they started when 2d vga was in. dude your living in the age of 3d with xga and higher
Well, it's not like we're making a 2d game with lower requirement graphics.
I won't start an argument here, but you can start a descussion on that on our forums. Those forums went under maintnance, but will be up fairly soon. Our webmaster promised they would be up today.
Seriously, this is beyond a few mediocre "programmers". You are really dreaming. Why are you asking people at NewGrounds anyways? Look for a website that is based on this kind of stuff. I'll point you in the right direction: Now stop dreaming here and go dream over there.
Thanks. I sort of ran into a wall after posting on a few more professional forums, and got bored, and posted here :)
Thank you for the link.
An interesting note is that I got more volunteers from here than other, more professional places.

Lol, of course—for a good reason. I just hope you understand what that is.
I will gladly volunteer my music abilities. I wouldn't mind helping with the programming either but I haven't used anything other then VB in years so I feel my music talents will be of far more value to you.
I'll keep checking the site to see who I need to email, but if you want a small sample of my work you can check out my tracks here in the audio portal or you can visit my website http://droopya.8k.com
Most of my stuff is hip hop beats, but I can do just about everything. For some of my classical types of work I suggest you check out the beat called, strangly enough, Classical Beat.
I'll be more then happy to pump out some custom tracks for you before you decide if you really want to use me or not. Just tell me what you need me to do.

They didn't start making World Of Warcraft.
They started with games like Rock 'n Roll Racing and Lost Vikings, and that's not part of the issue either, the programmers in Blizzard are proffessional. They've got at least a master degree in computer science or something.
Okay, the project isn't impossible, but it's not done in 2 months.

Yeah, but lets face it... both of those games kicked a lot of ass.

I'm not too learned in the subject, but I'd say shoot for OpenGL. If I'm not mistaken, using OpenGL would make it much easier to port to other platforms such as *nix and Mac (which OS X really is based on UNIX). But if there's no interest in porting to other platforms, do whatever floats the proverbial boat, I say.
