4.07 / 5.00 10,082 Viewsi was in blockbuster the other day, when i pick up the offical xbox mag. just to let you know, i've hated xbox since it was first announced. i'm flipping throught it looking at all the xbox "exclusive" games like dead or alive 3 (which will come out for ps2 sometime next year, i believe), and i spot something that angers me. the xbox writers attacking ps2 and gamecube. they were putting both systems down completely. they were saying ps2's only good game were mgs2, i believe ace combat 4 was another, and other great games. they continued saying that they weren't even that good. they put down gamecube because of it's short list of launch games. i've played gamecube, and i thought it was great. i'm almost tempted to buy it. anyway, i continue flipping through the mag and i come across the tony hawk pro skater 2x review. they were compairing the graphics of the xbox version to the psone version. i couldn't help but laugh. compairing 128 bit system to a 32 bit system. ha. what a weak attempt. as i reach the end of the mag, i come across the letters section. one had a pic of mgs2 and a caption that read, "no, xbox will not get mgs2. it will get mgsx." hmmm... another 32 bit system game they will be getting. such harsh word for such a lackluster system that is not even out yet. sad...
haha
good thing I don;t send money on consoles

Are you saying DOA3 because you're getting it or just because it's a X-Box game? I've played DOA2 for dreamcast and ps2 and DOA3 looks exactly the same to me. I got a PS2, but I think Gamecube is going to wipe the floor with X-Box. Just look at the graphics of that resident evil on it.

too bad resident evil stole their whole concept from the Alone in the Dark series, which started on the PC, I might add.
I'll have my XBOX soon. I certainly wouldn't buy some outdated piece o crap like the PS2, i mean really.
Half the people who bitch about XBOX are kids who know they won't be able to get one cause someone bought them a PS2 last year and they're stuck with it for awhile.
I gues the gamecube is alright, if you like cartoon games like the new Zelda. I think they are about to learn a very hard lesson though; Sierra killed off all their franchises in the 90's trying them "toony" graphics (Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, etc.) people want to watch cartoons, not PLAY them. The Dragons Lair era is over.
They are of course the same people who brought us the Powerglove and that robot that could pick things up and put them down. Not to mention Virtual gameboy, N64, etc.. da list goes on and on. Those were great successes, weren't they?
I'm going to have to correct some errors before TFX assrapes you...

It would be illegal. It's owned by MS. Now, DOA4 could be another story.

The XBox's processor is 32 bit. Gamecube has a 64 bit main processor, and I believe the PS2's emotion engine is 128 bit... But just so you know, never refer to 'bits' as if they are the deciding factor in console performance. They're not, and people recognise that now. If only they would stop treating megahertz as the be-all and end-all of computer speed....

xbox is just as powerful as ps2, so it's not out of date.

i'm taking a second job to buy more games and possibly a gamecube, $100 less than xbox.

give them time. yes nintendo made a bad choice with the new zelda.

n64 was a sucess, so was gameboy, so was nes, so was snes.

Um, I don't want to bitch, but earlier today you asked whether the only Gamecube shots in existance were the pic of Shiggy and the pics of Zelda. It doesn't really seem to me like you know all that much about the titles available for the Cube. Just saying...

thanks for the corrections. ms owns the rights to the name doa3. tecmo can release it on ps2 like they did before with doa2:hardcore.

I'm 99% sure that they can't do that. Microsoft owns all forms of the game. They would have to produce a REAL sequel to get it released on any other consoles. I personally don't want the game, so I don't really care much about it, but it WILL be an XBox exclusive.

Super Monkey Ball (yawn, already people caomplaining about how short it is and how it has no replay value) Zelda (laughable, cartoon) Metroid(brings nothing new to the table, all been done before) Luigi's Mansion (already universally panned, repeteiitive gameplay). I admit that is my depth of my knowledge on the Cube.. I don't want to know no more...

OH MY DEAR SWEET HOLY FUCKING MOTHER OF GOD!!!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???!?!?!!?!?!??!?!
I don't know if anyone, anywhere, has even beaten the game yet! It's rediculously hard. It's hard to have 'replay value' when you never even beat the game in the first place. People, including people who hate the Cube, have said that some of the minigames in this title alone would warrant the purchase.

Watch as I apply this logic to the XBox:
Jet Grind Radio Future (laughable, cartoon) Halo(brings nothing new to the table, all been done before) Shrek(cartoon, laughable, terrible gameplay, eats the system from the inside out even though I've never played it)
Well jeez, XBox looks horrible when you look at it like that!

No, I was hypnotized
MACINTOSH ROCKS, GAMECUBE ROCKS, CAUSE SILVERHAMMER SEZ SO, BUY APPLE. BUY NINTENDO.
I saw a demo of the Xbox in Toys R Us. I went to go play it, but it said not available yet. I was mad. So I bought Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on DVD. I liked it better then Xbox cause WWatCF is one cool ass movie.
Since I'm too lazy to bring up a valid arguement now, I should just track down TFX and stick him to you.

while you're at it, ask him to respond to the 'tfx' post about the crashing XBox's. I want to see if he thinks they are unfinished hardware or what.

What? I'm gone away from the forums for about a week and I come back to this? Amazing. Never would've thought.
Actually, it's not that amazing. I mean, usually these 'xbox sux' threads are started by 12-year olds who 'hax0red' their way onto AOL by hitting the 'Sign On' button and no little to nothing about the Xbox.
And the quoted statement proves it.
Please research these things before you blow your mouth off.
Thank you.
BTW, Silverhammer, I've been hearing some things about the kiosks, but I don't have enough information at this time to make any sort of conclusion as to what's really going on. Ask me again later.
And yes, I am away from my machine, therefore, no pics for a while.
This post goes for all the topics about video game consoles...
Everybody has different tastes in games, arguing about it will never change what kind of games people like to play. So the only reason people should write about the systems is if somebody asks about them and your able to talk about the systems without acting like a child. Saying that one of the console's graphics suck is stupid. The only thing that's important is the gameplay. Nobody cares about hardware specs when emersed in a good game... If somebody asks, tell the person about the system that you like and let them decide which one they would be happier with. Each one has different strengths so arguing about which one is better is just a waste of time.

Ok. There is a thread called tfx, as I said. It's probably on page 2 at this point. I actually took the time to defend the XBox (to some extent) by pointing out that I don't think it's been confirmed that they are final hardware. The kiosk at my local EB, (at least I think it was EB, it's in a mall I don't go to), did not freeze. However, it took about 30-45 seconds to load up the Munch demo.
I have one thing to say about all this...........

you know whats funny, the original idea post was about the xbox magazine writers.
tfx, notice how i spelled out "sucks" and didn't use the lame cyberpunk lingo. i'm also 17 with a 4.0 grade point average who also enjoys ice cream and long walks on the beach.

What's funnier is the subject heading suggests that Xbox as a platform entirely sucks, when you meant just the OXM editors. Bad choice of words?

I'm sorry. Let's make up.
i'm also 17
I'm 17, too! Except I can my shift key.

The post goes for everybody. I think topics arguing about video game consoles should be unofficially banned.

i made the topic post "xbox sucks" so maybe more people would read it. and plus... i thought of putting that after i hit the post button. so, my bad.
I'm sorry. Let's make up.
ok, i'm sorry.

i thinks shift keys are overrated. plus it takes an extra .2 secs to type a post.
Oh, an ass-kisser, eh? Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.
i've never sucked up for grades because i'm homeschooled. and i'm just really smart. :P
