OMFG - WHY in GAWD's NAME are they giving this story such a short airtime?
This is AMAZING! It's like everyone who voted against Bush last election and didn't have their vote count has showed up to remind him of the fact!
It makes me proud to see that people can get their shit together and put aside their differences to take to the streets and be heard.

Oh my goodness-- I was totally shocked by that massive display-- all potential voters... I wonder how you can't see that.
How many people protested during the DNC? It seemed like a few hundred or thousand... Man, who knew such a divider could unite so many people-- against that divider...

pretty much >,<
I love how they are holding the convention in an area that's registration ratio of democrats to republicans is 5 to 1.
I'm going to protest. Who wants to come? We can get Wendy's on the way!
I live in New York City, and this is the largest anti-Bush protest in American history. I'll join in, because I don't want Bush to fucking win the election.

Bush is lucky he screwed the economy over - it keeps people like me from being able to afford the trip to NYC to protest him.
Of course, I guess, If he hadn't screwed up the economy, I wouldn't NEED to protest him...
oh wait... there is that whole Iraq thing - and the Enron thing - and the Haliburton thing - and the uhm...
I guess Bush is lucky he screwed the economy over..

I live in San Diego but I was watching the protest on CSPAN for a large part of yesterday. Amazing! I was truly without words as to the sheer number of people protesting the Bush administration. CSPAN reporters were actually wandering through the crowd and doing short interviews, which was great for the most part. Unfortunately, a lot of the people being interviewed were complete morons who I think were just jumping on the bandwagon. I only saw one woman who actually knew why she was there and why she wanted Bush out of office. Everyone else was sort of bewildered when asked "Why are you here today?". None the less, there was a lot of hatred focused toward Bush in the streets of NY yesterday (and today maybe?) that I only wish I could have joined in on.
I read one of the protestors' signs too, and was forced to actually wonder if it was actually true or not... Could Bush actually be the absolute worst President in U.S. history?

Liberals are mostly pretty much made up of hippies. Their main purpose is to protest.
They don't realize is, They don't like wars and it actually happens, then you will get foreigners coming to your country and bombing the hell out of american citizins. After 9/11, Bush sends his troops to go after the terrorists. What most people don't realize is, if you do not hunt down your enemy, then you are known to be weak.
And the Liberals sees that war as a point of view.

I forgot to post this last line, the Democrats putting the "Fighting Terrorism" on the bottom of the priority list scares the crap out of me.
I hope Kerry doesn't do this.

No, I this time it's different. Most people are arguing that our "war" against terrorism is a childish game built on arrogance and complacancy, as well as the notion that the U.S. can do anything it damn well pleases anywhere in the world. Though, our greedy business practices work particularly well with developed, Western nations, it fails miserably (as we see everyday) when used against a pseudo-third world culture we don't understand. It's my opinion that Bush and all his redneck pals are having themselves a schoolyard fight with Al Quaeda. You would think that an Administration that held the best interest of this Nation as its first priority would try to figure out exactly what it is that the U.S. is doing to cause the Middle East to despise us so much, and then stop whatever it that we're doing to them.
And I think that is the argument that is being presented against this bullshit "war on terrorism".

That's the best anti-Bush argument I've heard in a while. That one tops "BUSH SUCKS, LOL !1!1!!", the most common "argument" since the begining of his term.

United for Peace and Justice put estimates at 400,000. Fox News and the ilk say "tens of thousands". At least 250,000, probably more in the 300,000's.
There were two miles of street full of protestors. It took us almost four hours to move ten blocks.
The one thing force produces is resistance.

Hippies? I resent that. Wait... no, I don't. I have family members that hippies and they are such nice people. However, my moms side of the family are a bunch of rich republicans (many of whom are coming back from the dark side).
They don't realize is, They don't like wars and it actually happens, then you will get foreigners coming to your country and bombing the hell out of american citizins.
They didn't bomb us, ass. They took our own planes and crashed them into buildings while Bush was reading to little kids and gave America the "deer in the head lights look" as he pissed away time when he got word.
After 9/11, Bush sends his troops to go after the terrorists.
Which he did. Good for him. Too bad he never caught the mastermind(s). However, we went to Iraq, why? Because Osama and Saddam talked? Because Saddam refused to help Osama? Because America gave Iraq an aluminum tube that they never used?
Great reason for attacking a nation that had nothing to do with September 11th.
What most people don't realize is, if you do not hunt down your enemy, then you are known to be weak.
Typical gun-ho conservative answer. Actually, it shows that you use war as a last resort, which it wasn't in this case.
And the Liberals sees that war as a point of view.
... what the hell are you talking about?

The UPJ march yesterday was/is going to be the biggest event. On the flip side, it's also likely to be one of the most peaceful, since everything had permits. Civil disobediance is going to be going on all week long, but the general atmosphere was pretty easy going. I've been in scarier protests. Of course, it would only take a small minority of rock chuckers to make national news.
The one thing force produces is resistance.
