I Apologize

I have been oft-criticized for my political and social commentaries. Unlike most people my age, or most people at all, I do not see this as a bad thing. Criticism, honest criticism, refines arguments and projects voice in debate. I am, as you will now see, not above criticizing my own views from time to time.
I criticize myself for being a Democrat. It is foolish of me to beling to any party with an opinion dissenting from that of the White House or the majority of the Senate. I apologize for this error, and beg forgiveness.
I criticize myself for supporting stem-cell research. How I think funding research could yield results in the future just proves how air- headed I can be sometimes. I wouldn't have wanted to fund Salk, either, since his "cures" were still in the basic stages and the money could have been spent on better things. Like tax cuts. And war.
I criticize myself for believing America can do better than we are doing right now, that our full potential has not yet been realized, and is being hindered by this President. Of depending on foreign oil, racking up defecits and debt, and misleading America is the highest we can shoot for, I accept it. Sorry.
I criticize myself for doubting that we care about the Iraqi people. We do. Our work in The Sudan, Rwanda and Iran proves we care about the innocent victims of ruthless regimes. Now, had we done something in any of those nations, I might actually have something to say.
I apologize, last of all, for thinking the middle class, not the rich, deserves the bulk of just one Bush tax cut. I apologize for citing Ex Parte Milligan, the anti-tribunal Supreme Court case, as ammo against the PATRIOT Act, justified or not. I'm sorry for thinking.
But most of all, I apologize for not falling in line with Dubya from day one. Independent opinion, treason, who wants to waste money on trying to find a division between the two? Who wants to leave Dubya behind?
A growing number of us.

Judge, for all you have asked forgiveness for, you will be forgiven, and if everybody asked forgiveness like you did, the world would be a better place.

Apology not accepted.
Just because our current president is an idiot is no reason to think Gore was less of one. The Democratic party has fielded it's fair share of extremist idiots.
The problem is not one party or the other. The problem is parties altogether.
In a party system, the vast majority of votes are tied up in one large group or another. When the groups nominate candidates, it vastly cuts down on the number of candidates with any possible chance of winning. Kerry will get many votes simply because noone thinks a third party candidate is viable. This restricts the ability of the populace to make it's voice heard distinctly in the democratic process. It makes the government less representative of the common man, and more representative of party big wigs, many of whom have never worked with their hands a day in their lives.
I don't care who you vote for. Just don't vote party.

Hmm, interesting..I am not going to reply to your statements about the politcal events you mentioned, because that would be a mile long reply, however I do think that what you said disturbs me. You said "I am sorry for thinking". That disturbs me. Although I dont necessarily agree with any of your political views, I do think that NOT thinking is the worst thing you could do. There is no need to appoligize for the things you state. The fact that you even admit that you might be wrong in your reason is wrong. They are your opionions and you are entitled to them, as I am entitled to mine. Having your own opionion and voicing it is a founding notion of the USA and the day we must appologize for that, is the day the USA is no longer a "free" nation. I say free in quotes because I dont believe that we are 100% free, but that is a different post.
Basically what I am trying to say is dont appologize for your beliefs, stand up for them..and if you have changed your beliefs, thats fine too and if now you think your old beliefs were wrong, then dont appologize for them, for that makes you seem weak minded...
Thats all I have to say about that.

Yeah... I was wondering why are people are like, "oh, don't worry, you're not perfect." When he is clearly making fun...
Man, I wonder what would happen if some people have read "A Modest Proposal"...

Dissagree with someones policies as you will but if you feel the need to turn this into a personal state of emotional hatred your life must be a huge ass crater seeking for meaning.

You should beg forgiveness for supporting a bloody corrupt party - even if they are a slightly less corrupt party in a two party system. I voted for Labour - but I don't agree with them.
