Canada at the Olympics

Man, has anyone noticed how we're sucking in the Olympics this year? The sport we're doing the best in so far is... baseball? What the hell. We also have almost no sponsors or funding for our athletes, why does canada have to be so wellfare, ie, military. Meh, at least we know that all our athletes are drug-free because they can't afford any. So yeah, chomp on that.

the reason why we suck so much these olympics is because of the fact the times we set for things would be 1st and 2nd the last olympics but now they are time for like 13-19th spot its wierd....

We got 2 medals:

1 silver- Womens Trampoline
1 Bronze- Womens Synchronized Platform Diving

Were gonna rack up a few medals in Track and Field. Maybe some in individual platform diving. And maybe 1 or 2 in rowing.

O'well at least the other country I'm rooting for is doing good.

Poland:
1 Gold- Swimming
2 Silver- Swimming
1 Bronze- Fencing

The two silvers and the gold came from the same swimmer.

Canada really isn't expected to do well at the summer Olympics, it's not really some big national let down on the scale of say, the US Men's basketball team not winning the gold.

It would be nice to see Canada with a bunch of medals though. :D

I don't worry about it. Sure, we suck at the summer games. But that's because we only have like a 2 month summer anyways. Winter is our time to shine. We always clean up in the winter games. That's just what we're suited for. Sort of like Austria. I can't wait for 2010 when the winter games come to Vancouver...that's going to be awesome.

Another thing I'd just like to bring up since this is an Olympic topic. Why are we all bashing eachother's countries? That's not what the Olympics are about. Sure, you cheer the loudest for your home country, that's natural. But bashing another's country? Not cool. When I see someone win a gold medal and see that look of pride and joy in their eyes, I smile. It doesn't matter what country they're from. It could be Canada, America, Great Britain, Russia, China whatever. They just realized their dream. They won an Olympic Gold Medal. And I for one am happy for them. The Olympics aren't about countries or teams (well, except for team sports), they are about the athletes and the spirit of competition. So, don't hate on other athletes just because they are from a certain country. Be happy for them when they win and finally realize their dreams.
