WHy is Hollywood so liberal?

I second that motion. My two uncles are closet democrats because they work with my conservative grandfather at their electric company. Being that those two are Pres and VP, and therefore make a lot of money, doesn't mean that they lack morals or a clear line of thinking.

Although I've never lived in Hollywood, and only went there for vacation-- I'm pretty sure that the people you see on TV there are just the "elite". There I imagine lots of poor Black and Latino neighboorhoods, people who tend to vote more often for Democrates.

Singers, rock stars, etc. Have a rebel image, a non-conservative image. So they tend to behave much more liberally...

Plus over at Hollywood, I'm pretty sure you are able to find lots of homosexuals, and trannies whom tend to vote liberal to the fact that Conservatives are often stigmatized with religious nutters (like Jerry Falwell)...

Well, think about it. When one is at college, and depending what it is, they try to encourage independent thinking, especially in English majors. And one is exposed to much more stuff then say a person who doesn't go to college.

As much I want to call my self liberal, I just am not. Yes, my thinking is liberal-- but I think on issues first before actually coming to a conclusion on where I stand.

Perhaps people aren't liberal-- just perhaps there are more independent thinkers in certain colleges...

Under your thinking George Bush must be a genious, he graduated from Yale. The George Bush analogy works perfect, its represents the whole cheriade Americans place on college and higher learning. Most of college is bullshit, to get a piece of paper, that will stick you in an office somewhere.

College kids tend to be liberal because it has a certian "rebel" image, and they somehow it will make up for the fact that they're parents are rich, paying for their everything, and that they aren't part of a cookie cutter consertative lifestyle. Any social commentator worth his while will tell you, that the bulk of them are indeed sheep to another flock. Most will take in any information presented, as long as its not from conservative media, without even basic research into the subject, and get hooked on emotianlistic journalism.

Now when it becomes obvious to the point is is now, being liberal is no longer rebellious anymore. Hence neo-cons are formed and the system comes full circle.

Neo-cons are essentianly the same type as whiney liberals only fighting for a diffrent cause.

The reason that so many people in Hollywood are liberal is because most of them are high school dropouts without even a hint of natural intelligence.
