Okay, I'm going to try to approach this as carefully as possible.

The scientific approach to the meaning of life is, as my science teacher once put it, to simply make more of ourselves. This can be interpreted as:

a. Having sex (w00t!)
b. Having a child
c. Raising a family
d. All of the above

The whole purpose of growing up is to prepare one for reproduction. So I guess one can say the meaning of life is to make more of ourselves.

But than another science teacher once told my class, when asked this question, that the purpose of life is to learn as much as possible. This is completly off track of the "other" meaning of life, but tis and interesting thought.

Than, I remember the old Army slogan, "Be All You Can Be." The meaning of life could be to become the best person you can possilby be. This could mean being successful, or simply being happy. I suppose helping people could go under this category.

So throughout all of this, I have concluded that the meaning of life could be one of the following things:

1. To Reproduce/Raise a Family
2. To Know as Much as Possilbe about the Universe
3. To Be the Best Person You Can Be
4. All of the Above

All humans will die in however many billion years - and everything will cease to exist.
Procreation seems a bit pointless.
If you believe in God (which I don't) surely the meaning of life is more spiritual.

Explain. I don't see how the anihilation of the human race in a billion years has to do with procreation. Don't know about you, but when I look forward, it's by year, not by billion year. Im still gonna fuck even if where all gonna die.

Fuck knows. Does there have to be a point? Seriously, no living person can claim to knowq what the meaning of life is, for 2 reasons:
1) if your religious, then you'll believe that you'll find out the meaning of life after it finishes- and I have yet to meet someone who I believe can contact the dead (and I call myself a witch- my mind is open to a lot)
2) Scientists can't find out the answer using logic, because surely it would be logical that we would already know...
3) Nothing else really makes sense. Like why theres a third reason which is about things not making sense, which will probably end with a flat statement which doesn't make sense anyways. Poo on a stick.

Why do people ask this question? You shouldn't look for a cut and dry way to live your life; one platitude to live your life by. You have to find meaning in your own life, not have someone tell you how to live. You alone decide what you want your purpose to be. It can be anything, and whatever you decide to do, do it. In short, nobody is going to tell you how to live. You have to find out for yourself.

A human's long-term goals is planning ahead for his future and what he will leave behind to his children. Everything else is beyond your singular abilities.

Ive always been more of a scientiffic guy myself, so what says that humans wont eventually spread throughout the universe? I don't actually want to know the meaning of life. I want the next 60-70 years of my life to be a mystery. I was interested in whether I would get any responses - or if I would just get flamed.

I think the meaning of life might be - To live your life in a way that you a remembered well when you die.

Also - I think having a good Karma is important.

Hence the meaning of life must be a general thing, because if life had no meaning, then once we had aheived life, we would just slowly fade away, having no reason to continue existance.

So.. no-ones actually had a meaningful life, by that definition... No-ones just faded away. I like to think that someone I lost who was close to me fulfilled her life, and thats why she was taken so early. Hmm... maybe its something we can do without realising it? Like not being afraid of death? Having a certain idea of what it is?
