Yup, I'm at it again with terrorist. And no, I still don't get why everyone is so scared of them. Frankly, I'm a helluva more afraid of being killed by some psycho on a rampage than a disgruntled muslim fundamentalists. Think about it; serial murderers and derpressed laid of postal workers with guns are everywhere. One day they get some sort of blood lust and you happen to be the first person they see. Does he think? No. Does he kill you for a reason? No. The man is crazy, he kills for the thrill.
Now terrorism, whats the chance of me succumbing to it? Hardly any, seeing as how I live North America. But being mugged by a crack fiend? If I happen to go in the inner city, then the odds of being violated by one who holds the same citizenship, maybe even the same religion, is far greater than me being blown up by a self sacrifing man on a mission.
Lets look at the numbers, shall we?
Murders: 12,658 (1999) [http://www.nationmaster.com/country/us/Crime]
Terrorist casualties: 0 (1999) [http://www.state.gov/s/ct/rls/pgtrpt/2003/31751.htm]
There, proof that someone who probably beleives in the same things as you is more likely to end you life than an arab.

Frankly, I'm not scared of either. Out of a quarter of a billion people, only about 12600 people got murdered. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure the odds are on your side there. Especially if you don't live in a slum.
Think you're pretty clever...

Islam means, literally, 'peace'.
A true believer of Islam is less likely to want you dead than a true believer of Christianity.
It's the fringe folks who tend to be a lot more scary, and like hornets, they tend to do nothing unless they are stirred up.
The United States in its adolescent imperialism is damn good at sticking it's fingers into some pretty deep holes, however.

So basically. We don't need these fucktard terror alerts.
There have been more murders than terrorist attacks, more kills from murders.
So, do me a favor, and raise the MURDER ALERT BAR to orange.

Thats your opinion, a fanatic would consider himself a true believer in Islam, and the others not. It's all up for interpretation.
You'd have to be pretty stupid to think you are smarter than millions of people, and have trimmed religion down to an absolute science.

Obviously by the numbers, psychos are a greater danger. What if you compare to car crashes too?

Let's throw alcohol related violence into the mix shall we? Those numbers are astronomical, but you don't see people trying to ban that. In fact, my friends wonder why I don't drink and I'm 18. It's a messed up world we live in.

Yeah, if you compare drunk driving related incidents, then terrorism just looks like a child game. Hell, even comparing 2000's numbers (including Sept 11th), terrorism casualties are just a tiny fraction of the drunk ones. The country should get a drunk driver larm, putting it to red every christmas season.

i believe that the problem with the analogy of a drunk driver alarm is that the terrorist threat level is based on intelligence, whereas a drunk driver alert level would be difficult to determine.
it would have to be based on very generalised information, as i'm certain the the united states government cannot monitor every car owner who goes out drinking.
although it would be nice if people would consider the holiday season and other such times as high risk, it might help people to rat out drink drivers.

Heh, good one.
But predicting high levels of drunk drivers by the time of year it is as well as the beer purchased that day. Keeping track of the beer sold would be pretty easy nowadays, so why not? Helluva more scarier than terrorists.

Meh, you should ban pumps! In Japan only, 2.000 people get killed every year because they get stuck with their heel and fall down the stairs.
