3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsFor those of you living outside of the UK, one of our TV networks has launched a series about giving lads with a criminal background four weeks of intensive 1950's style basic training.
After two weeks of them suffering abuse at the hands of the corporals, sergeants and PT staff, most of them have started to mature and turn into normal people. It is beginning to work.
However some of them have been kicked out for abusing the RP corporals, and just being dickheads.
This method might work if it were instituted as an alternative to prison. (Okay, so America already has conscription, but this would give worse treatment to the criminals, while everyone gets their normal service tenure.)
Comments, please.
i think its a great idea, the criminal justice system is now bending over backwards to accomodate criminals, a good few weeks of training and discipline should do some people a world of good
they did that on a talk show.
i need to look up the word conscription

Conscription: noun; Compulsory enlistment for state service especially military service.
Everyone in America should serve time in the armed forces, because of conscription laws.

Not everyone. What if your only son/daughter had to go to war because of this and got killed?
Hence why I can't sign up for the draft. That, and my bad back.

I didn't say I agreed with the American conscription laws, I only advocate the 'put the criminals in the army' proposition, as it might work. Personally, I couldn't give a shit if the criminals got killed when they went to war.
Because it serves them right.
I can't see it being possible to reintroduce National Service, much as I'm in favour of it. Bottom line is, kids can do whatever they want these days, mainly because there's no discipline in schools or at home from parents, and the law can do fuck all either. It's only going to get worse seeing how they've effectively banned smacking your kids (in the UK) now.
In a way its good because it teachs them order and in a way its bad because it teachs them how to fight well. With most of them have crimes of fighting already is this a good idea.

Exactly. Young people today just don't give shit. That's how we've ended up with things such as the binge drinking culture and the rise in STDs. And I agree with the no dicepline in schools bit.
I was bullied in both of my schools, but no-one did anything to stop it once and for all. All they got was a slap on the wrists and they were free to do it all again in a couple of weeks. They were the ones getting away with it and I was the one suffering. No wonder you hear about all these kids committing suicide because of bullying. Hell, recently a bully got a life sentance for stabbing someone he bullied. That's probal have such a conservative view on the matter.
If national service was introduced for those who don't take higher education, this country would probably be better. However, as mentioned earlier, it doesn't seem likely that it'll be reintroduced/
The twin brothers in that series seriously do my head in, what a pair of wankers!
that show sucks and its fake... i saw it on tv and then there is the Bad Girl People show after it and they put teens in prison for cursing at the teacher ... wtf
.

They should have beat them within an inch of death. Children today are far too cheeky for their own good. Anyone that gives an adult grief, should be beaten down until they're crying in a fetal postion, bloodied. If people were to take a harsher stance, we wouldn't have all the drug users and sexual devience we have today.
Ive been watching the entire series and it really should be brought into our modern-day system and used - its effective shit

dude for someone who was bullied just look at the reviews you gave flash all negative. i feel this is your way of safely releasing your stored anger on another person the same way it was done 2 u in an effort 2 get a release with out the reprocusions of physical or verbal abuse your would if you sed it in person in stead of typing it.
this is called "internetus hardmanas" or internet hardman syndrome(yes i made it up)
ps bad lads army rules and im gonna join the armed services as an officer.
phase 1: find loads of people with convictions for criminal damage, gbh and similar offences
phase 2: teach them to kill
phase 3: release them
phase 4: sit back and enjoy

Phase two is actually vastly wrong here. They probably already know how to kill, but they have a lot of agression. The Armed Forces teach them how to control their agression and use it constructively.
This would be more effective than having them gang rape each other in prison on a daily basis
