What are your veiws on this?
Personally, i think that its retarded and im suprised they have no shame in themselves. I think its supposed to be the way its been meant to be for MILLIONS of years. Sure, i dont mind lesbians and gays together unmarried- i just dont care. But when they bring religion into it and marry them into churches, then they cross a line.
Give me what you think about this?

I think you deserve to be banned for posting such stupid crap. When people get married they get tax benefits and stuff plus it helps people feel more united. Why should we not let them get married. God doesn't hate gays, if he even exists.

Marriage is for love, right? Gay couples love each other, as do lesbians, so why should we deny them the right of marriage?

The church may disagree with it, but they should get the legal benefits that married couples get. That is what I believe.

CrimsonRain maybe you should read up a bit more on it...they don't to be married in a church, the government has no juristiction to tell churches what to do.

What gays have been pushing for is the right to be in a "state-sponsored" marriage. That means they can get the same tax-benefits, death benefits and such as a normal married couple

I think that the majority of society now treats marriage like a novelty. People preach that gay marriage would sacrifice the sanctity of marriage, but I say it may bring some sanctity back into marriage.

Straight people in today's society treat the union of marriage like shit. Maybe gays and lesbians can revive it's true meaning.

Plus, at least with gay marriage there wouldn't be children that have their lives ruined by selfish parents.

Personally I don't think it should be allowed. If the country wasn't founded on a belief of God I think it would be "okay" but I still wouldn't root for it.

The fact that God is a big part of the image of this country compromises the fact of allowing gay marriage. It says in the Bible that homosexuality is a sin, its hypocritical to allow it if its founded on God isn't it?

I think that if gays want to marry they should move to a country which isn't prodominantly Christian and which doesn't have a Godly base.

Just my opinion, take it or leave it.

I think we let religion dictate our actions too much. Religion was used as a way to control people and it's still being used that way, today. I'm not saying that's all religion does, but I don't think we should base any decisions on what the bible says....just food for thought.

Have you even looked in the Bible where it talks about homosexuality? In Leviticus 20:13 it talks about a man having sex with another man, and saying that it is a sin and that the two should be put to death.

In the same book (Leviticus) chapter 20 verses1-5 talks about how it is a sin to give a child away (adoption) and that we must throw stones at the person. In chapter 14 verses 33-57 there is a whole section about how to rid a house of mildew.

If we are going to follow the Bible about stopping homosexuality, musn't we follow all of the Bible's rules? Not the ones that we pick and choose to follow?

This arguement is getting boring... Always on Poltics threads...

But yeah, I'm obviously for gay marriage, and I'm getting married to my boyfriend in the future. We've been together 5 years. I am going to have a biological child of my own with my best friend, and are trying to make legal documents.

Right now we've settled for the lesser Civil Union, which won't allow us to be on each other's issurance.

It doesn't have everything. Family members can contend my will if I leave everything to him and my baby, leaving him poor. And this happens a lot... many wills are contended.

So anyways, I live very happily. We thought about living in Massachusets for a while to get the marriage certificate, but both of us can't leave this place. A town full of Caucasians with no true and authentic Mexican or Vietnamese restaurants at sight... what a horrible idea. And it isn't guaranteed that once we return back to California, we will remain married.

Yet we want to take to word "God" out of the pledge of allegiance. :-/

I think Gay and Lesbian couples have the same right to marry as any heterosexual couple does. Like Carmilla pointed out, marriage has really lost its sanctity without gay and lesbian marriage. People get married and divorced multiple times and it seems like this has turned into the norm. Hollywood would be a great example. All these high profile couples get married, break up, and then get married 5 months down the road. Its ridiculous. Marriage is supposed to be a permanent bond between a two persons who love each very much, but its turned into a fucking game of musical chairs.

Besides, what harm is coming from letting gay and lesbian couples marry? There's none whatsoever.

Technically, we could kill children if they back talk, also in Levitcus. And we could scorn all football players too, because they touch dead pig...

Exactly. People have no respect for marriage anymore except when a homosexual wants to get married. Then suddenly evenone wants to talk about how sacred the union of marriage is.

If we took a poll on this site of how many people's parents are either separated or divorced we would probably be nauseated by the results.

Fortunately for me my parents are still together. But there was a point in time where everyone thought there was going to be a divorce... I might be living in another city if that had happened. =/

You know what I find ironic? Many of the people that are using religion as an argument against gay marriage have said they are athiest, or basically follow nothing in the Bible unless it suits their purposes. How hypocritical.

I am lucky in the same way. I couldn't imagine how difficult it would be to grow up with my parents living in different places. Some of the stories you hear from the children of divorced parents are heart-breaking.

Sooooo, a couple that can't conceive shouldn't be married? What about old people?

I'm obviously for a Civil Marriage. The churches needs to stay the Eff out of my private life.
If I want a Church Marriage, there are several that will perform the ceremony.

Fine by me. I agree, just because they are gay they aren't doomed for hell. They can always come back and ask for forgiveness. I try to live by the Bible as much as possible but because I am human I screw up sometimes.

I always ask for forgiveness and try to keep a tight bond with God. Sorry if you're not religious.
