More exciting news! It looks like Flash authors are finally starting to get some attention from the industry!

Johnny Rocketfingers Announced

That's right, your favorite badass stickman (play his game here on NG) has been licensed for console development!

I wonder if this is the start of a new industry grab for popular Flash characters? Don't forget, the industry is inherently evil - so we'll be happy to provide feedback and advice to anyone who is approached with licensing offers - just drop me an email from the contact page.

i'd be interested to see exactly how the game plays, i.e. would it be a shooter, fighting or platform game? (Rhetorical question by the way...)

Because the flash-based version is more of a choose-your-own adventure... I'm not entirely sure that'd work on a console, unless of course they made it into an RPG or something.

But either way, THAT ROCKS! Well done to the artist for the concept, and it's good to know that people are finding their way into the industry through their extreme Flash talents now.

Also, a quick note: "exclusive worldwide licensing rights" is exactly what it sounds like. No, not "some confusing copyright crap I dont need to know about", but it means that they are the only person who can use creativity, until the end of the deal. Think before you sign on: having your own console game is great, however, depending on the contract you may be stuck with your publisher/developer. If the person offering is asking you to remain quiet on details of your licensing contract, I would be more than a little suspicious. Actually read the contract, and if it's too confusing, HIRE A COPYRIGHT LAWYER. Do not believe anything that the person says about the contract, because he can easily lie or bend the truth. Copyright lawyers working for any major industry will probably be educated in the way that "copyright is good", that is, the more IP (term for copyrights, patents, and trademarks, stands for Intellectual Property) they gain, will produce more profit. Although you probably wont agree (I certainly dont) that copyright is good, there's a massive school of thought in all the law schools teaching them that the status quo of "hoard IP, get permission, extract maximum profit" which represents what copyright normally does.

Many flash games need to get on consoles. I think that maddness interactive would be a cool console game, as well as the skullkid, pimps quest, and divine intervention. Hopefully this does start a new line of console game's with there origenal versions on the internet.

The Dead Case should also become a console game. There's a slew of games on this site that will sell well on PS2, GC, or Xbox

I agree... I love being able to do flash animations, and show them to thousands of people. If newgrounds wasn't here... i'm not sure i'd be interested in flash animations at all.
I hope these games are really successful, so there's room for a lot of us in the video game business. I cant think of much else that i'd like to do.

oooo! im working on a totally uber game thats going to be submittted to newgrounds only. I'm getting FaS to do the BG and im doing all the proggramming and character design. FaS is also doing the cut scenes. Its called Robo-Fuse! Its going to rock too! Its a platofrm game with similiar art style to alien hominind. U can use a jetpack with fuel, get into vehicles, punch, duck punch(both ways), jump, and alot more. Ill release a trailer soon! Maybe i can get a contract tooo !!! (even though i highly doubt ill get it in the near future... maybe on another project in the future...cuz im determined!)
