Nirvana=Overrated!

goddamn! Nirvana is probably one of the most overrated bands of all time! they act like they were so great, and that Kurt Cobain was such an awesome guitarist! NO WAY! kurt cobain sucked, except the simplicity of it all sorta made it sound good! now i'm not saying they suck, but they are not that good! the stupid radio station over here has a special time EVERY DAY where they just play nirvana! WTF!?!?!?!? they do that just cause they started a generation of new music.... big fucking deal! they don't do that for Black Sabbath!!! black sabbath started a kind of music that was and still is 10 times bigger than grunge! AND they were much better! and what about Metallica? they may not have "started" metal, but they sure as hell influenced half the (good) bands since the early 90's! WTF!?!?

Haha, yeah, big deal... They were a very unique band, and once they came out they sent a lot of other rock bands to the can, mostly hair bands. Nobody wanted to hear that old style crap once Nirvana came out.. Yeah, they sucked bad.. Really over-rated ;)

If Nirvana is over-rated, Black Sabbath is over-rated, and so is Metallica, and Led Zeppelin.. If you want to say a band is over-rated, why don't you say Nsync or The Backstreet Boys are over-rated.

He wasn't the greatest, but he didn't suck at the guitar... He was obviously good enough to start a band and become famous off of it.

Nirvana is most definitely overrated. I liked their music but their career wouldn't have lasted. They were nothing special. Most people just think they are because they ended their career on a high note.

The point is, Nirvana created a unique style of music that shook the world, and took down a lot of other bands. I'm sorry, but I really doubt your cousin could pull that one off. Making a band these days with a unique sound is quite rare.

Isn't that how most bands get big? Get a record deal, the media jumps on them, and they are set. Who cares of it's simple music, it sounds GOOD, and that's all that matters. And why are you talking about simple music? Your favorite band is White Zombie. They put sound effects in their music, like techno, and play hard ass power chords... I'm not saying I hate White Zombie, infact I like them, but they aren't any more advanced than Nirvana.

Now for my opinion. Nirvana doesn't suck, but they are over-rated, simply because everyone thinks they're god. (or some do). Kurt didn't really suck on guitar...but I'll be past his skill level in a year. Yay for that.

Anyways. I think it comes down to this. Anything that accumulates such a huge fan base will be considered over-rated. illwillpress, Nirvana, etc. I don't think anyone can name one thing with such a huge fanbase that hasn't been called over-rated before. Even Jesus gets called over-rated.

You're a retard. nirvana fucking started grunge. they made history. they were so popular and good. and ozzy osbourne didnt kill himself, and metallica didnt start metal. thats why there not praised on the radio or tv as much.

You know, I'll admit that after hearing the electic songs by Nirvana such as Teen Spirit over and over makes you wanna puke, but listen to the unplugged in New York album, it's possibly the best unplugged album ever made. Then you can tell me if they sucked.
Sure, Kurt wasn't a great guitarist, so DirtySyko, I do agree with you 99%, but you shouldn't call Black Sabbath overrated. The fact is that Tony from Sabbath was an extremely fast lead guitarist, and Kurt wasn't. But I know what you're saying.
But Kurt had an amazingly unique voice at the time, and started a whole new vocal style, almost like Bob Dylan did.
