Dobio has been here for ages...
and yes the people who post stuff make it themselves.. but many of them just use premade loops and shit like that instead of making all the shit themselves...

Yes, if you submit copyrighted material, you will be banned from the Audio Portal.

Yes, the audio portal is for artist who make their own, well you guessed it, audio. Submitting copyrighted material will most likely get your stuff removed.
and who is dobio?
I'm going to assume this isn't a joke. Dobio is a mod here at NG. You mentioned a week long ban, was it Dobio that gave you it ? Just curious.

lol, I enjoy how you make it sound as if we have no musical talents at all... especially since this is comming from the mouth of a man who enjoys Nine Inch Nails.
When you make music on a computer, you usually use samples. But samples aren't entire riffs and drum beats. Although it is possible to use such things, the majority of songs are made with samples less then a second long. IE: The sound of a kick drum being hit once. We program the notes, place the rhytems, add the effects and often times even record our own samples depending on what we need... including vocals.
There are even some tracks in the audio portal recorded by entire bands. I know I posted a song by my old band "Getting Off" in the Metal section and I'm sure there are others. So don't let FatCat make it sound as if everybody in the audio portal is a talentless hack.

Just by looking at your alias, I figured you'd be 13. Then I actually went to the thread and saw your spelling, knew you were 13. I clicked your profile, and sure enough, I was right!
Yep, I'm a 13-year-old. Atleast I don't act like one.

Droopy - Yeah some people do do alot of good work, i just hate hearing all the loops and shit people lose.
slicing up a break is one thing.. but when they just use typical shitty loops that they didn't make themselves, weather its a synth, a drum loop, a bassline, whatever... i just lose respect for the piece of music.
I find stuff on soudclick alot more.. er.. Real sounding and origional.. and they give u 10mb per song as apposed to 4 so you can upload a decent quality versian.

That-is-Bull - Huh? Musta been saying that to some one ages ago and not quoted them, or put their name there so it looks in the wrong place or something..

It's no problem, just a lot of people around here don't give the audio portal or the people who submit material there enough credit. It's a constant debate around here about weather or not anything in their is actually good enough to be considered music... which is really annoying to somebody like me, one who only submits to the audio portal. Add that to the fact that the audio portal hasn't received an update in years and nobody seems to want to hand anybody in there an ounce of respect.
On top of that, you see a lot of "I hate rap" topics around here and one of the most mis-understood reasonings for dislikeing rap is that most people feel the beats don't take any talent to make. They act as if there is a magical button rappers hit and a beat just mysteriously appears. Yet they turn right around and say bands like Nine Inch Nails or Crystal Method are the best. Funny, they use computers to make their music just like rappers do...
I didn't mean to offend you or anything, I just wanted to make it clear that there are lots of talented people in the audio portal weather the majority of the people on this site want to believe it or not.

well... if you wanna know the bands I listen to the most of.. i wont tell u them all its too many, then here goes: (Just to show you i do have a broad music taste)
Pitchshifter, nine inche nails, system of a down, adam F, Paul Oakenfold, Root Manuva, Crazy Penis, Bloodhound gang, Groove Armada, Bad Company, Aphex Twin, Infected Mushroom, Astrix, Katatonia, The Cynic Project, Jurassic 5, Growling Mad Scientist, Astral Projection, Haliciogen, Roysopp, Plump Dj's, Pendulum, Concord Dawn, K's Choice, Paradise Lost, Ratpack, Prodigy, Lab 4, Group X, Cold, Brokebust, Breeze styles hixxy etc
I like anything that sounds good to me.. haha. Anyway, yeah variation of shit in that list i think u will find. My favorite geres at the moment are IDM (intelligent Dace Music), Goa/Psy/Acid Trance, and well good D+B/T+B (pendulum + concord dawn T+B not the pussy shit)
Alot goes into making music. I know man. And Hip hop... it is simple man. Its just getting it just right isn't. Its just the right amount of overdrive or whattever one the kickdrum. The snare possibley moves slightly back, mb a deeper sound.
IIts the other stuff in hip hop thats harder. Because Hip hop is a Rap with a beat behind it.. its gotta be simple, but not so simple that u lose intrest, but not so complex that it takes it away from the lyrics.
unless ur talking about the atmospheric dj shadow type shit.. but thats another matter now.,
