Legal Recreational Drug Use? Why?

As I viewed the latest Viagra commercial on TV (A bunch of guys jumping around smiling. They eventually hug - how horny are they?) - while eating dinner - I wondered why a drug with no real value at all, such as Viagra, is legal, while other recreational drugs are not.

What makes dick pills more socially acceptable than marijuana?

I put forth a few ideas;

1) Stop the legalized production and sale of dick pills. They server no real purpose, rather they are simply for recreational purpose.

2) If 1) is not acceptable to all of the impotent NG users out there, then I propose that we stop all public advertising for aforementioned dick pills.

Why do I have to watch a bunch of balding, middle-aged pervs jump around acting happy? Especially considering the reason they're so happy?

Keep this garbage in the backs of nudey magazines where it belongs!

I'm sorry. I thought a topic about the justification of creating new recreational drugs would be interesting. We created this new market - unlike alcohol or tobacco. This is a new, fully legal, and purely recreational commodity, with all the repercussions and side-affects of any other drug.

But in the future, I'll stick to Iraq, Kerry, gay or Moore threads. Then you can take them seriously. Especially after responding to the same topic, different thread, 20 or 30 times.

No no, I'm just kidding around. It is an interesting point, but weed and Viagra are different types of recreational drugs, so to speak. Marijuana is a mind-altering drug (to some extent) that causes loss of judgement and has a doping effect. Viagra gives you a raging hard boner. Comparing the two is kind of tough.

The effects are different, but the end result is the same. Practically no real social value. The chance of becoming mentally addicted - reliance on drugs. It creates the feeling that drugs can be just for pleasure, and not for any real medical condition.

I can fully see viagra becoming a gateway drug towards harder drugs - cocaine, methamphetamine, acid.

Furthermore, the fact that it's allowed on our TVs contributes even more to the tearing of our society's moral fabric. What will Little Johny think when he sees someone on TV - or even his dad - using drugs recreationally?

But the really sad part is, that once people progress to the harder drugs and come off of them, they become depressed.

What do they prescribe when you're depressed? Anti-depressants, such as Paxil, Zoloft or Prozac.

What do they do? They give you sexual side-effects (impotence, erectile disfunction, etc...).

So what do you turn to after taking Prozac?

Viagra.

And the cycle keeps going... And going... And going... (Just like the Energizer Bunny!, but much more annoying) And going... And going...

So isn't it sad that the drug that you originally took to cure your sex life turns out to screw up your finances, send you to a shrink, take anti-depressants, experience the same type of problem that got you into the circle in the first place?

Maybe when men become impotent, they should just stop trying to have sex. That'll cure the problem, too.

especially when those other recreational drugs work out cheaper. But do u think it's wise to drive the viagra market underground? It would be hard to eradicate by now, unless they're prepared to have a "War on Erections" and a major anti-promiscuity campaign..

I'd like all recreational drug use legalized so that I can stop listening to people bitch about recreational drugs being illegal.

But seriously, I don't necessarily see anything wrong with legalizing such drugs as cannabis. It probably would do more good. Unless you're suggesting a total ban of all these drugs? I'm not sure, can we really classify Viagra into the same category as stuff like weed? Maybe they both have no real social value, but the side-effects and end-results are completely different. I want to look up the side-effects of our little blue pill. I think I'm rambling, but I'm not sure.

Viagra is just a drug for those who cant get it up or keep it up in the bedroom. It does no damage to your brian unlike weed or any of the other "recreational" drugs. Why would you think those two would even fall into the same catagory. Sure I've used it but only on other people. It was a fun party that night. I decided to put viagra into the burgers before serving them up to the guys. So then when everyone was done I had the idea of going to pick up chicks (Picking up chicks like that is totally retarded). So we went out and looked for some chicks. We were on the bus when all of a sudden a bunch of old people from a bingo game got on the bus. We were on it for ten minutes more when I noticed that all the guys were getting shifty. Turns out they all had a hard on. THere was no one on the bus except us and the old people. Needles to say it was funny as hell. We all got on the next bus going back to my place and slept it off. God damn that was a funny night. Oh yeah. Back to my rant. How does viagra get you high? The only thing it gets high is your dick. That's about it. So think about that and have some fun with pranks.

Pot is decriminalised in many European countries - it's just as good as legalisation, at least from the "American-afraid-of-getting-busted-with-a-single-joint-and-sent-to-jail" standpoint.

Regardless, no one has justified Viagra use yet. Why? Because it's practically indefensible.
