Lets have a mini-party cause I just posted the 7,500th post.
Which is 3/4 of 10,000 posts :]
Uhm.
I will post a really gay poem in commemoration of today!
[I made it for a History project this afternoon...]
A seemingly endless, prosperous time
Was brought to an end in late 1929.
The stock market crash and economic recession
Signaled the beginning of the Great Depression.
In early September, stocks peaked and fell.
By late October, things weren't looking too swell.
Black Tuesday brought America into a slump;
Over 16 million shares were quickly dumped.
All over the nation, banks failed and closed;
The savings of millions of people, all hosed.
Prosperous businesses were forced to shut down,
Leaving unemployed people to roam the town.
The depression hit countries across the sea,
Adding to the post-war turmoil in Germany.
The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act was designed to protect,
But by reducing world trade, it had the opposite effect.
Many desperate families made shantytowns their home;
They scrambled to find scraps to make shacks on their own.
The starving went to soup kitchens to receive food for free,
While others stayed home to starve in misery.
Overwhelming hopelessness, racism, desperation, and hate
Threatened to tear apart our beloved United States.
Dust storms and droughts ripped farmlands apart,
Despondent children watched their fathers depart.
So you see, this sad tale contains no proper ending.
But one moral stands true:
Be careful of your spending.
The Great Depression

I'm going to post an equally gay picture.
