dude have you ever seen the fucking food they eat, its like in plastic IV bags and they hook it right up to a pipe and just say um..... plastic. i mean old folks home food sucks. ALOT!!!!!!!!! They have their beans, their potatoes, and their gollosh. and for dessert they get some extra pills in their already overloaded medicted lives. hahahahahha.

you're talking about enteral liquid nutrition. it's basic contents are protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals that are essential to daily consumption. it's used to feed patients that cant swallow normally on their own. if they would try to eat normal food, they would choke, or worse yet, aspirate.

i work for a county nursing home, and see this on a daily basis. the liquid food has no taste, nor is meant to be ingested by mouth. it's hooked up via gastric feeding tube directly to the stomach.

in my opinon, i dont think elderly people who cant eat anymore, for whatever reason, should be on feeding tubes. it prolongs their lives, but at that point, who wants their life prolonged anyway?

doctors never talk families out of this procedure, playing on the families feelings of keeping a loved one around longer. its money in their pockets really. patients living longer = more Dr. visits, more procedures, more insurance payments.

its probably the most immoral thing ive seen yet in the medical field. sorry for the rant, its a touchy subject.
