go to FILE>PUBLISH SETTINGS, and there near the bottom will be a box to check in that will compress all mp3 to like 12k or so, youll see it and it will default compress all wav and mp3 to about 12% the original size

You can also go into your library and adjust the quality on individual sound clips.

if you cant figure anything else out, you could try burning the file to a cd (or if u have the cd skip this step)...then rip the file to your computer again at a lower quality (musicmatch jukebox is freeware that lets you do this)...then import it, and lower your quality settings for publishing too
