Hmm, difficult to say how it can effect him, until he makes his first few starts of the year. If he gets off to a slow start (more likely now, since when he starts, the offenses he'll be facing will be in a groove) then he may be adversely affected by that.

Well now's over that the WBC's over who's ready for some real baseball?
On a side note Mike Mussina aloowed 10 runs in 3 innings against the Tigers yesterday I know its Spring Training but 10 runs??

Spring training. When all the young stars play out of their skin to try and make the team on opening day, while the ones who know they will be playing don't over-exert themselves, because they don't want to get injured.
Moose will be fine.

He has had problems before though.

And? You can base what you believe someone to be about to do on what has transpired in the past, but if that is to be the case, he has also had some great seasons.
He's won 19 before (twice) and 18 (twice) and 17 (twice) his ERA is a little high and I think he can work on that, but he is one of our solid starters, averaging more that 15 wins a season over his 5 years in the pinstripes.
Granted, his numbers have been down in the past two, but I think he's going to thrive being one of the 'other pitchers' instead of the main go to guy of the starters (Randy Johnson)

the WBC was more real than most of what we get in the season...
Go Orioles! Soon to be 2006 WS champs!

Right, when america didn't even feature, because their players didn't over-exert themselves. Don't even get me started on the so called 'mercy rules'

The Orioles? I remember them after they signed Tejada, Sosa and Palmiero. Sosa left, Palmeiro DIDN'T do steroids (:P) and that leaves them with Tejada. I think the AL East will be a close race, but the three teams I had in mind were the Yankees, Sox and Jays. I believe the Orioles will be fighting the Rays to avoid last place.
Good luck.
Actually I think the O's will end up dead last in the AL east the Devil Rays have a lot of good young players and they've been together for a while so they'll be an improved team.
And I'm calling it right now on the 20th year anniversary of the Bill Buckner World Series it will be the Mets and The Red Sox playing in the fall classic.

No way. Im not going to s ay who is going yet, but its going to be a great season
I know there might be injuries that can change the whole look of the team but I want the season to start already so I'm just looking for anything to do with baseball.

Same here, opening day is coming soon.

I'm making a note of this, because you could be spot on or VASTLY misguided. Either way, I'm brining it back up, come October.
Besides, the Old Futurama joke wouldn't stand up: Shea Stadium, home to the 1974 (I think my memory serves well enough) and 1986 world champion Mets. You can't go adding 2006 onto it.
I'm just giving the Mets the NL title because every other team seems to have lost a bit in terms of talent. St Louis lost Reggie Sanders,Matt Morris and larry Walker, no one knows if Clemens will pitch the NL West is probably going to be as bad as last year and the Braves will lose in the first round of the playoffs like they always do.

But I still think that most of the team has learned valuable lessons. Most of their young talent has improved and they still have Albert Pujols (and Scott Rolen is looking to bounce back from injury - he's in my fantasy team, as I din't get A-Rod)
I just don't trust Tony Larussa in the postseason sure he's won a title with Canseco,Mcgwire,Weiss,Stewart and Eckersley. Larussa is one of the best managers ever in the regular season not so in the postseason.

Like Bobby Cox? THere are two of the managers with LOADS of regular season wins, but not many championships by comparison.
Which leads me to an interesting poll: Who is the greatest manager of all time?
In my opinion Casey Stengel is the greatest manager of all time. He's the manager to win 5 straight World Series and 7 World Series overall. While Cox and Larussa have a lot of regular season wins Stengle was an expert at winnng the big games.

Meh, but still he is one of the best. Jeff Bagwell is starting the season the DL, he isn't sure if is going to return to the season or not. It would be a shame if his shoulder injury is what makes him retire. He is an all time leader for the Astros homeruns 449, RBIs 1,529 and runs 1,517. His career is about to be finished I think
Since the season is about to start, let me make my predictions for the '06 season:
AL East
Toronto
AL Central
I think this will turn out the exact same as last year in terms of standings for the entire division
Chicago
AL West
Oakland
As for the AL wildcard, I think the Yankees will get it.
NL East
Atlanta....again
NL Central
St. Louis
NL West
San Diego
Wild Card, I'm going with a fanboy pick and picking the Dodgers.
AL Championship:
Chicago over Toronto
NL Championship:
Cards over Dodgers
World Series:
Cards over Chicago
He's a sure fire hall of famer even if he were to retire today its a shame he and Biggio are the faces of the Astros franchise he's also a former MVP winner.

Yeah, they were a great duo, but it might be over.

Torronto, seriously, Torronto.

White Sox(Twins will be 4 games back)
AL West

Wild Card

NL East
Braves
NL Central
Cardinals
NL West
Dodgers
Wild Card
Astros

Between the idea And the reality
Between the motion And the act, Falls the Shadow
An argument in Logic

Indians
AL East
Toronto
AL WildCard
Yankees
NL West
Dodgers
NL Central
Cardinals
NL East

Damn a lot of people are picking the Blue jays to win the AL East. I think they'll end up in third place (Again!) behind the Sox and Yanks.

Well just look at the pitching, Toronto has great SP's
You got a point Halladay will probably win 20 games and if healthy BUrnett is another potential 20-game winner. The key for the Blue Jays will be Vernon Wells he struggled a bit last year and I wouldn't be surprised if he has 30+ Homeruns and 100+ RBI's.

Don't forget about Gustavo Chacin, he is one of the lesser known pitchers. Eric Hinske needs to put up numbers like he did his first season.
