You are welcome to do so. As long as you can get a good laugh from it, go ahead.

It's confirmed. Rays vs. Red Sox in the AL.
I'm supporting the Rays on this. Even if they beat the White Sox, I want the young team to make it to the WS.

Wow, what a game! First, Terry Francona (normally good) got haunted by Grady Little's ghost of the 2003 ALCS by taking out Okajima in favor of Masterson after a 2 outs walk. Then Masterson ruined Lester's chance of winning (which was a shame since he pitched 7 shutout innings) by giving up 2 runs in 8th and having a runner on 3rd base with 1 out in the ninth with a tied game. When Terry Francona finally woke up and replaced Masterson with Delcarmen, Varitek made an improbably play to tag out the runner on 3rd. Finally, it came down to this: with 2 outs in the bottom of 9th and Jason Bay on 2nd base, Lowry had a chance to be the hero, and he delievered the walk off single which sent us to the ALCS for the second straight year! What a game!!!!

Actually, if he was haunted by his ghost he would have left him IN and Okajima he would've given up the runs. Terry did the right thing, but Masterson started missing his spots and that is what caused the problem.
Then Masterson ruined Lester's chance of winning (which was a shame since he pitched 7 shutout innings) by giving up 2 runs in 8th and having a runner on 3rd base with 1 out in the ninth with a tied game.
Yeah, it's too bad about Lester not getting the "W", but he did a damned good job.

That was an awesome play.

What got me on those plays is how close the right fielder was to diving and catching Bat's hit, then how close the 2nd baseman was to getting Lowry's hit. Those two plays were VERY close. It was nice to see Lowry come thru when he had bases loaded last night and flew out with 2 outs where a hit would've won it.
It was also great to see Pedroia finally get a hit and a BIG one at that. I still feel that he needs to slide down to 8th until he heats up. This is the playoff and no time to be stubborn with the batting order.

I'm looking forward to that flash production - I'd be happy to write / research / voice act for it :P
League Championship Series Predictions
Much as it galls me to say it, I think the Red Sox will have the measure of the Rays and will go through to the World Series. Might take them more than 4 games, but they can do it.
And to complete the 'fairytale', let's have the Dodgers in there as well - Joe Torre, managing Manny Ramirez against Boston, Torre's greatest foe, Manny's greatest accomplishment so far. Sorry Philly, I'd like to see you win, but there's a little bit of sentimentality creeping through for a few former Yankees.
Once a Yankee, always a Yankee :P

It does brings up a scenerio I've been thinking for a while, if the Dodgers and the Red Sox meet in the World Series, is Manny entitled to have two rings?

Liege has been lights out. As for Broxton? Not so much, Phillies in 7. But I do want to see Joe Torre taking the Dodgers to the WS. Manny going back home with enemies' jersey is going to be a huge draw.

Pfft. Well there goes any chances of the Phils winning, DoD made his pick the Phils. Still, it seems everyone is still discounting them. They played the Dodgers well throughout 8 games this season AFTER Manny got there and won 4, even though they could've easily won 6-7 if not for a couple blown leads.
A lot of people are saying that the Dodgers should be favored because they swept the Cubs. Frankly, with the way the Cubs choked I think the Mets could've shown them a thing or two. The Dodgers are being spotlighted because of the Cubs lackluster - and all too often - postseason performance.
People like to use the fact that the Dodgers went 17-4 over their past 21 games (just to reach a record of 84-78 in the regular season), and to pass Arizona in the WEAK NL West. But people tend to forget that the Phillies won 16 of their last 20 to win the NL East.
Still, I can't ignore what LA has accomplished, with Furcal coming back and their starting pitching being pretty good. If the Phils can keep Manny in check like they did when he was last at CBP, they have a definite shot. That is if Utley and Howard can get it going and their rotation keeps them in games.

No, he'd get the only championship ring ever handed to a player for the BostAngeles Dodge Sox :P

What are you talking about? I was 4/4 in predicting the LDS series.I even correctly predicted that the Cubs would choke again on the first round. Talking about predictions, I see the Red Sox beating the Rays in 6. Let time tell if I am right this time or not.

At least there's a chance we'll know if he's entitled for two rings if the matchup does happen, could be the first time it happen if it happens.

The Phillies are doing well and leading 3-2. But Manny will make one more at bat in the eighth inning, intentional walk?

This game just reinforced the principle that good pitching > good hitting. Lowe pitched a heck of the game until the 6th when he made 2 mistakes after what turned out to be a costly error. Also, you can pitch to Manny if you spot the ball well. Cole made a mistake in the first that cost him a run, but Madson located in the 8th and he lined out as the defense was set up right.
Game 2 starts in a little over 16 hours as its a 4:00 start time. It's most likely due to the fact that the Red Sox/Rays series starts as well tomorrow and MLB doesn't want their 2 marquee series to split the ratings if they played simultaneously. Don't ask me why they're the late game, as later games are good for the West coast market. Still, due to a shorter rest period we may see some changes in the lineup, specifically at catcher.

I laugh at those so called experts milking on the Dodgers before the series began. All they did in the postseason was sweeping Daaaaaaaaaaaa Cubbies who would not beat anyone when it mattered the most. Manny is good, but one player does not make the team. Today's result showed that a great team can defeat A SUPERB player. Philles may not have Manny, but they are the better team as a unite, that was why I picked them to win the series.

Gladly :P I'd rather see the team that actually won the division advance, but I think the Red Sox will, out of sheer bloody mindedness.

Probably, but once we decided to trade Manny, we were not going to be empty handed. There would be someone else filling in.

Yeah, but Jason Bay has turned into a revelation for you guys. We've had similar results with Xavier Nady, but I want to see how he handles a full season first.
Also, what about Brett Myers?! He only had 4 hits all year in some 58 at bats, then he comes up and smokes the Dodgers, going 3 for 3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs. This will be the only time that he's got a 1.000 battting average and it might be down in history, if he doesn't get to play again... still, that's a long shot, but still a possible chance.
Brett Myers' lifetime Regular Season BA - .116 This guy likes October :P

I find that to be quite amusing. What I don't find to be amusing is that Myers has more hits and RBI this post season than Ryan Howard does. His first two at bats in today's game were horrible. I find it funny that Ken Rosenthal asked Lidge after the game if he thought they should have Myers bat clean-up (Howard's location in the line-up). Of course Lidge said no, but with the way Howard is going it couldn't be any worse.
Still, a win's a win and the Phils will take them any way they can get them.

It is about time we send Manny Delcarmen for the rescue. Dice K has already pitched 1.1 more innings than expected.

That is so harsh - I find it quite frustrating that mlb.com doesn't give postseason hitting stats for pitchers.

I think that they should seriously consider flipping Howard and Burrell. Might just jolt some life into Ryan's bat.
Still, a win's a win and the Phils will take them any way they can get them.
I'm sure you will. Now the test comes as you travel to LA - will you be travelling with or without Charlie Manuel, whose mother passed away on Friday?

What do you think would've happen to Steve Philips had he succeeded in traded David Wright for some scrubs like he did to Jason Bay?
