I like the A's, theyre one game out of 500. Zito and Buehrle start today. It should be a good game.

Trivia: What did Pip suffer from in 1925 which cause him to "sat" out a game which allows Lou Gehrig to start his streak?

The HR derby this year is as you know in a different format. There's also a new gimmick with the balls thrown by the pitchers after the 9th out. They will be two-toned colored, with white on one half and gold on the other. If there are any 9-out HRs hit Century 21 and MLB donate $21,000 to charity.

I kinda think this is a good idea, but I don't know how the hitters will react to the ball. The change in colors may throw them off and no HRs could be hit after 9 outs. I would hope that they get some BP in with the gold balls before the Derby. Here's a pic.

If " According to legend " was in the question, your answer would've been right.

Well its obvisouly a good point for a charity but like you said it might throw the batter off a little bit.
Padres won today 8-5 Khalil Greene homered and so did Xavier Nady. Brian Giles drove in 3 and it looks like he is getting back into hid old form. Padres purchesed the contract of Pedro Astacio. He use to be a very good pitcher, but he is in the minors right now. Padres need to find a good starting pitcher in order to win games, also more run support in order to keep ahead in the division.

Sorry for double post but most of you might already know this, Roy Halladay (sp?) is injured so he can't make the allstar game. Matt Clement will take his spot. Both good pitchers but it sucks for Halladay cuz he deserved it.

Again sorry : Update
Scott Rolen has pulled out of the Allstar game due to an injury. Morgan Ensberg "Astros" will take his place. Who do you guys think deserved it more? Anyways I was just wondering who do you guys is gonna win the homerun derby? I have no clue cuz ive seen too much crazy shit over the years out of it.

Really?? The Cubs? Strange...I guess it makes some sense though, they do go pretty far back. Although one would think the Yankess would be up there at the top...

Anyways, WOW, I certainly did not expect Abreu to hit 24!!! I'm kickin myself now that I missed that...oh well, I think I'm gonn watch that celebrity softball game, Kenny Mayne is always good for a few laughs : D

Celeb softball isn't all that great. If you want to see his dingers, switch to Espn 2 as they're re-airing it. You might just catch his last 20.

Pick your team for tonight's All-Star Game from Detroit!

American or National?

For me it's of course...the Americans.

I've gotta say American (me=go-go Sox fan : P). I'm hopin they can do it without Halladay, and also hope Buehrle can give a couple solid innings to start off the game. It would seem that stat wise the AL is the better offensive group of stars but ya never know.

Can you give us more of a list? I'm intrigued as to where the Yankees are.

AL is my call. I just get a feeling about it. (Maybe because Rolen has dropped out of the NL team)

Hah, only fitting that Rogers is the one to break the shut out for the AL....still don't think he should have played in the All-Star game. I watched bits and pieces of the game (I did watched the first few when Buehrle pitched, but after that I was kinda watcing here and there) but all in all seemed like a good game : )

Yeah, to re-ask what IF questions, what did you do to deserve a ban?

Anywho, I agree Bobby was damn good in the derby, but the game itself was a bit of a let-down. I kinda knew that the AL would win when the NL didn't have guys like Clemens and Willis pitch at the beginning of the game. Carpenter did his job and kept it scoreless through 1, but I think Clemens and Willis should've been in there in the 2nd and 3rd. But in the end it didn't really matter though because the NL couldn't score early so they could use guys like Lidge, Cordero and Wagner at the end.

Preston Wilson was traded to the Washington Nationals today from Colorado, but that wasn't the only trade they made. They also acquired Eric Byrnes from Oakland, probably because he was deemed expendable after acquiring Jay Peyton from Boston. Byrnes is one of those lay it all on the line types with his defensive play, as he's already shown this year.

Anyways, back to Wilson. He's not having the greatest of seasons this year, but definitely not the worst. forty-seven runs batted in, but he's nearing eighty strikeouts, and he's battling knee problems. I think he's still a great addition though, as first baseman Nick Johnson is still injured, and there hasn't been much of a great fill-in for him. Carlos Baerga and Wil Cordero have been Johnson's main replacements, and they just haven't produced offensively. So as long as Wilson can be that bat that provides while Johnson is out, and protects when he gets back, they'll be a damn contender for sure.

What lol?? The Padres are in first, the 'Stros are barely above .500...yes they are coming back as of late, but they've still got a long way to go...

Anyways, it seems like a lot of minor trades have been made the past few days, what I'm really interested in is where Eric Chavez might go (if he goes anywhere). Also, I can't wait to see Schillin start pitching again, possibly in a closer's role (that would be a blast from the past from his Astros days...). Anyways, here's to a good second half of baseball!

They are only 7 games above 500 and D backs and Dodgers are gonna be on their ass. Astros are coming back strong and they need Jeff Bagwell to do better.
