Lester has settled down after a tough start in which he gave up 5 earned runs in the first two innings. But against the Jays, it may be too mcuh for us to overcome. :(

And Mo wins the game, via Robinson Cano's bases loaded single in the bottom of the 9th. Quite a way to win, with a lengthy pitching duel. I only hope this means that the bats have been resting themselves to give a fitting send off to the House that Ruth Built.

Cubs down to 1 in magic number!

They lead 3-0.

Speaking of which, here's a guy in a little store who's a die-hard Cubs fans, and well, I'm a Sox fan. For the record, I respect the Hometown heroes. But this guy hates the White Sox. I will not mention his name, but I made an edict on the Cubs. After the season's over, the next time the Cubs don't make a World Series, I'll no longer be a fan of the Chicago Cubs. I've been a fan for my life (25 years), and 100 years is long enough!!!

Cubs and Rays for World Series(?)

Milwaukee's collapsing horribly. They did this last year, too. It's kind of sad to see since they haven't made the playoffs since 1982. They should've really taken advantage of when the Cubs lost eight of nine games, but they were just as worse off. I honestly don't think the Brew Crew were the same after they were swept by the Cubs at home.

Perhaps, but that was what? back in July? They did sport a 20-6 record through August. If you're going to point to a certain series that really messed with them I'd go with (nope, not the Phillies sweep) when they were swept at home by the Mets. They've only won 4 games since then and 2 of those wins came against the 2nd worst team in the NL, the Padres.

So I rarely get to see out of market games, whether it be because the Phils are playing at the time, or because they're not aired locally, or whatever. However, I DID get to catch today's game between the Brewers and the Reds on Fox, and the game is just a microcosm of what the Brewers (and Reds for that matter) have done so far this year. They got so close, yet finished with a loss to fall further behind.

First off, C.C. isn't exactly looking like the pitcher that he started out as when he was first sent to Milwaukee. He's given up 4 runs in each of his last two games, and even though only 1 was earned today I think he still could have and should have worked out of that jam in the 6th. Also Francisco Cordero, who has 6 blown saves on the year - 5 of them being to the Brewers - found himself in another sticky situation in the 9th. Giving up a HR to let the lead drop to 1, he somehow wriggled his way out of a bases loaded, 2 out situation with Prince at the plate.

True, but I feel like the only reason they even did that well was in August when they actually were fired up about that incident between Manny Parra and Prince Fielder. They couldn't keep that motivation from that month over to this one. WHy is that a social incident has to motivate a team like them? Is it due to inexperience or what? I'm not sure.

The Reds look so scary right now, yet they have nothing to play for. Why couldn't they just play like this the whole season? I know I wouldn't want them to (for obvious reasons, being in the same division as the Cubs), but I wouldn't mind seeing them get into the playoffs at some point. They should have a nice core group of youngsters and veterans next year. They might be a team to watch in the next year or two.

Cordero's a shaky one, isn't it?

But to Sabathia. Remember he was only pitching on three days rest. You can only expect the guy to pitch at his peak position when there's enough rest for he to be completely rejuvenated. How often did he pitch off shortened rest in Cleveland? There's talk like he might be pitching off three days rest for the rest of the season, just so the Brewers may stand somewhat of a shot at winning the Wild Card. I just think there's too many things riding against them right now to do so, including that final series against the Cubs.

They hung the white flag already by sacking Yost. You cannot sack your manager with 12 games left when you are in a tight race, period.

Very true. I knew they tried to make it a motivational factor, but that's not the way to do it. Firing your manager is not what you do to try and motivate. Twelve games left to go, you have to stick it out.

We've seen a lot of teams almost raise the white flag, possibly too soon. Maybe not in Detroit's case, though. When Pudge got traded to the Yankees, they knew they had no hope, so they might as well start building for the future now.

Hell, the way that Tigers/Indians altercation happened, you wouldn't really know that either team didn't have a shot at the playoffs.

We're trying to prove to Mike Lupica that we can get a better record than the Dodgers and still finish third in the AL East :P

P.S: OMG, the Rays are on the verge of making history. >:(

And make it, they did. I wish them all the best

Last night at the Cathedral tonight and I hope that it's going to prove to be a memorable send off for the house that Ruth Built.

Judging by last night's action, it looks like the bats were all taking the night off, stocking up the power for one last hurrah!

ZOMG, Coop has got the chainsaw. (*DoD ran away scared*)
Anyway, we are leading the Jays 3-0 right now. Hopefully, we can win the game and reduce our magic number to one. Considering the O's are not a motivated team, we may have to wait for another day to clinch.

Victory is OURS! It is awesome to eliminate the Jays in their house. Elsewhere, the Rays are losing 1-4 against the Twins. We will have a great chance to move within 1.5 games. :)

Unless you're in the Green Bay or Dallas greater areas and are at all a fan of sport, you should be watching the Orioles @ Yankees. Even if you're a Red Sox fan, you have to watch it out of respect.

Thankfully, I've been to the stadium already and could tell people my stories of being there (like watching the Mariners win one 9-7 courtesy of a Griffey Jr. HR). For those of you that haven't been there and your time has passed I could only say that I feel sorry for what you missed out on.

I don't know how the new stadium will fare when it opens, but if it fares anything like the way it's been handled in terms of funding and its impact around the surrounding neighborhoods, it doesn't look like it'll be appreciated as much as the House that Ruth built. That's why I say you should catch atleast some of the game tonight, before you can't anymore.

You know they really should have scheduled this season better to the point where the Red Sox were the visiting team in the final game at Yankee Stadium. But no, they had to go with the Orioles. I mean, as historic as the rivalry has been, wouldn't you think it would have been more fitting to let these two finish out the reign of one of the most historic ballparks of our time?

Very true. Nothing would be more hitting than one last Red Sox --- Yankees series at the historied stadium in the final three games of the season. It would be ok if it were the Angels or some other playoff contending teams being the last team playing in the Yankee Stadium. I just feel a bit down inside to see the Orioles playing the final series in the Stadium. I mean, come on, the fucking Orioles.

WTF? We lost to the Tribe who had Zach Jackson (who is he?) on the mound? So many wasted chances, we HAVE to finish the Yankees as soon as possible before they start dreaming again.

Wah,you post too much here. :P

Seriously if you think that Boston is gonna lose the rest of their games and the Yankees win the rest of their games you are crazy just settle down watch some football or something and forget about baseball for this week and get ready for the Angels when October comes along.

The only two team fans that should be disgruntled are the Mets and Brewers fans.

Also the Diamondbacks are surprisingly only 2 games back of the Dodgers now, watch out L.A

Well, it's certainly looking like an interesting postseason, despite the fact that the Yanks won't be joining in the festivities. We've taken a beating this season and I think that we need to kick back and relax during the off season, then come out fighting next term, so that we can enjoy some decent baseball.

Boston is leading 5-4. Those are some pretty damn good issues if you ask me. Luckily for the Sox, Cliff Lee is having one of his worst outings this season.

Why Javier Lopez? We are 4 outs away from clinching a postseason berth. The right move is turning to Papelbon with the bases loaded in the eighth. What are you thinking, Terry Francona? I will be so mad if Lopez does not get the job done.
